📺 “The Punisher: One Last Kill” Trailer: Jon Bernthal Returns as Frank Castle for a Brutal Marvel One-Shot — Premieres Tues, May 12th on Disney+
The big question hanging over this new season of Daredevil: Born Again is a simple one: where the hell is Frank Castle? In a city slipping into something that looks a lot like a ruthless police state, where masked vigilantes are hunted down and locked away in prison camps, you’d have to imagine Castle has a few thoughts on the matter. At least there must be a really good reason why he has gone quiet. Well, apparently, it’s enough to warrant his own spotlight.
Enter The Punisher: One Last Kill, a Marvel Television Special Presentation that checks in on Frank Castle at a moment when he’s trying, at least on paper, to step away from the life that defined him. The setup is straightforward but loaded with emotional tension and rage: Frank attempts to live without the pull of revenge, only to find himself dragged into a conflict he cannot ignore; one that dredges up the torment of his painful past and the loss of his family far too soon. If there’s one thing we know about Castle, it’s that peace doesn’t tend to last very long as fury is a constant companion.
Jon Bernthal returns as the skull-wearing vigilante, once again walking that razor-thin line between controlled restraint and explosive violence. And if the premise suggests anything, it’s that this version of Frank might be wrestling with something deeper than just another target list. This is a different Frank. He’s much more vulnerable and emotionally fragile as he seems to be dealing with his inner demons.
Acclaimed filmmaker Reinaldo Marcus Green directs and co-writes the special alongside Bernthal himself. It’s a reunion that makes sense: Green and Bernthal previously teamed up on King Richard and HBO’s We Own This City, the latter earning Bernthal some of the strongest reviews of his career for his portrayal of corrupt Baltimore cop Wayne Jenkins. Clearly, the creative shorthand is already there, and this project feels like two very talented artists getting together to play in a Marvel sandbox.
As for where this fits into the bigger Marvel picture, that’s where things get interesting. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day arriving just a month later, and Bernthal already confirmed to appear alongside Tom Holland, the timing raises some obvious questions. Namely: how does Frank Castle cross paths with Peter Parker, and does this special lay the groundwork for that collision?
We’ll find out soon enough when The Punisher: One Last Kill premieres Tuesday, May 12th on Disney+.

📺 “Half Man” Trailer: Baby Reindeer’s Richard Gadd and Jamie Bell Play Fractured Brothers in This Dark, Decades-Spanning British Drama — Premiering Thurs, April 23rd on HBO MAX
If Baby Reindeer proved anything, it’s that Richard Gadd isn’t afraid to dig into the parts of human behavior most people would rather avoid. That series turned personal trauma into something unsettling and intimate. Now, Gadd returns with a story that shifts the focus inward. The focus is now toward makeshift families and the kind of bonds that don’t easily break... until they do. And when they do, so does everything built around them.
In the upcoming HBO limited series Half Man, Gadd stars alongside Jamie Bell (of Rocketman and All of Us Strangers) in a decades-spanning drama about two men bound together by circumstance rather than blood. Gadd’s Ruben and Bell’s Niall grew up as brothers in everything but name. Ruben is fierce, loyal and at times extremely volatile, while Niall has always been quiet and reserved since childhood. But when they reunite years later at a wedding, something feels off. Ruben isn’t the same, and whatever’s changed soon erupts into violence that sends the story spiraling backward through their shared past, tracing the fractures that led them here.
The drama unfolds across 30 years, moving from the 1980s to the present, peeling back layers of loyalty, resentment, and buried trauma. What begins as a story about brotherhood and deep friendship gradually reveals something far more erratic, where emotional dependence and identity blur into something harder to define... and harder to control. Ruben and Niall aren’t just close friends and brothers by marriage but also have shared a long history making them the only people in the world who know how each other is wired. But it’s that intimacy that makes them so dangerous to one another.
Gadd and Bell lead a strong ensemble that includes Stuart Campbell, Mitchell Robertson, Neve McIntosh, Marianne McIvor, and Bilal Hasna, among others. Behind the camera, Alexandra Brodski and Eshref Reybrouck direct, with Gadd also serving as creator, writer, and executive producer.
At this point, Gadd is carving out a lane that feels distinctly his own; one that leans directly into discomfort, vulnerability, and the uneasy truth that the people closest to us can also be the ones who know exactly how to destroy us. With such a willingness to go down some very dark corridors of the human psyche, Gadd is both a performer and writer with the ability to examine personal toxicity and how it relates to identity and connection. If Baby Reindeer was an exploration on how personal trauma can attract troublingly unhinged people in your inner circle, this new series seems to ask, what if those unhinged people happened to become a part of your family.
Half Man is slated to premiere Thursday, April 23rd on HBO MAX.
📺 “Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed” Teaser: Tatiana Maslany Spirals Into Blackmail, Murder, and Suburban Chaos in This Darkly Comedic Thriller Series with Jake Johnson — Premiering Wed, May 20th on Apple TV
Count us among those who believe Tatiana Maslany is a true talent. Also count us among those who believe her time spent starring in the She-Hulk series might not have been the best use of her acting chops. But call us crazy, her latest series just might be the role that finally reminds us why she deserves better, as she gets to play in a space that suits her far better than what Marvel had to offer. Here, she’s playing a working mother stifled by obsession and blackmail while barely treading water. In other words, Tatiana Maslany gets to go full Maslany.
In Apple’s upcoming dark comedy thriller Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, Maslany looks like she’s finally been handed a character that lets her chew up scenery in all the best, messiest ways. She plays Paula, a newly divorced mom who’s barely holding it together. Between custody battles, an identity crisis, and the everyday chaos of parenting, she’s already stretched thin. But things take a sharp turn when she becomes convinced she’s witnessed a crime, sending her down a rabbit hole that pulls in blackmail, murder, and—somehow—youth soccer.
From there, things begin to spiral as her personal investigation starts uncovering something much bigger. The deeper Paula digs into the mystery, the more it becomes clear she’s stepped into something far more dangerous than she ever expected. And as she tries to hold her life together, everything around her begins to fall apart.
Maslany is joined by Jake Johnson and Dolly de Leon, with Charlie Hall and Murray Bartlett rounding out the ensemble.
The series hails from creator and showrunner David J. Rosen (Us & Them), with David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express, the Halloween reboot franchise) on board to direct and executive produce. That pairing points to a tone that leans into character-driven tension and real danger, with just enough humor to keep the chaos feeling unpredictable.
Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is due to premiere Wednesday, May 20th on Apple TV.

📺 “M.I.A.” Trailer: A Cartel Massacre Ignites A Young Woman’s Relentless Quest for Payback in This Gritty Miami Crime Series from the Co-Creator of ‘Ozark,’ Starring Shannon Gisela — Premieres Thursday, May 7th on Peacock
South Florida is known for its sunny beaches, gorgeous ocean waters, vibrant culture, and neon-lit party scene. People from around the world flock there to soak it all in. But let’s face it, that doesn’t make for great television. That’s why most shows set in this part of the state lean into its criminal underworld, as South Florida also has a long history tied to drug trafficking. And when there’s blood in the water, revenge is never far behind.
From Ozark co-creator Bill Dubuque, with Dexter veteran Karen Campbell serving as showrunner, M.I.A. is a new Miami-set crime thriller series that taps newcomer Shannon Gisela (in her first major acting role) as Etta Tiger Jonze, a restless young woman stuck in the Florida Keys, dreaming of something bigger across the water. That dream quickly turns into a nightmare when her entire family is slaughtered by the cartel, leaving her with nothing but grief, anger, and a growing list of names.
As she sets off a revenge-driven descent into Miami’s underworld, Etta is forced to adapt fast or disappear. She’s not just running anymore... she’s hunting. And with a dozen targets tied to her family’s destruction, she must navigate a world of shifting alliances and constant danger. Along the way, she finds unlikely allies in Lovely (Brittany Adebumola) and Stanley (Dylan T. Jackson), forming a tight-knit trio that reflects the city itself: a collision of communities, cultures, and survival instincts. It’s a mix that gives the series its own spicy flavor, where every interaction carries risks and every move could be the wrong (and last) one. Just when you thought South Florida couldn’t get any more heated, here comes a woman destined to burn it all down.
Alethea Jones (High Potential, Spider-Noir) directs the opening episodes, setting the tone for what looks like a slick, character-driven crime saga that’s a mix of Miami Vice, Scarface, and Kill Bill.
The cast also includes Cary Elwes as a local detective watching the clues trickle in as Etta blazes a trail of carnage. Elwes is joined by Danay Garcia, Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, Gerardo Celasco, and Marta Milans, with guest appearances from Edward James Olmos and Sonia Braga, along with Billy Burke, Loretta Devine, and more.
M.I.A. premieres Thursday, May 7th on Peacock.
