📺 “Beef: Season 2” Trailer: Oscar Isaac & Carey Mulligan Reunite as a Fractured Couple at the Center of a Country Club Power Struggle in Emmy-Winning Series with Cailee Spaeny, Charles Melton, Youn Yuh-jung & Song Kang-ho — Premieres Thurs, April 16th on Netflix
It’s an Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan reunion!
The two have a track record of playing complicated couples. In Nicolas Winding Refn’s 2011 neo-noir thriller Drive, Isaac portrayed a husband fresh out of prison who returns home to find his wife (Mulligan) and young son have grown close to their neighbor (Ryan Gosling), a professional getaway driver. In Joel and Ethan Coen’s 2013 1960s folk singer dramedy Inside Llewyn Davis, Mulligan played the pregnant, on-again, off-again girlfriend of Isaac’s struggling musician, pushing him to take responsibility for his life.
Now, 13 years after Inside Llewyn Davis, Isaac and Mulligan are back together once again as a couple in Season 2 of the Emmy-winning Netflix series Beef, but this time navigating a new set of complicated dynamics that might lead to even deeper fractures... or worse, violence.
If season one of Beef was focused on themes of class disparity and socioeconomic tension, season two seems to pivot toward the generational divide between two different couples: one suffering through years of dysfunction and resentment, and the other still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship. Though we imagine class tensions will still play a part, with this season set against the manicured backdrop of an exclusive country club.
Created, written, and partly directed by Lee Sung Jin, who went on to win three Emmys for the series, the show found a sharp, darkly funny way to explore just how far people are willing to go when pushed to the edge. While season one began with a minor road-rage incident, this new season seems to kick off with a moment that feels almost accidental: a young Gen Z couple (played by Wake Up Dead Man’s Cailee Spaeny and Warfare’s Charles Melton) witnesses an intensely personal argument between an older pair (Isaac and Mulligan), where their fight might even turn physical before their presence interrupts it. That single moment sets the stage for another slow-burn escalation where nothing stays quiet for long.
Here, Isaac plays Josh Martín, the general manager of an elite country club, eager to impress his bosses as the club’s elderly billionaire owner (played by Oscar-winning Korean actress Youn Yuh-jung, of Minari) arrives for a high-stakes visit, accompanied by her personal doctor and second husband, played by Parasite star Song Kang-ho. Mulligan plays Josh’s wife, Lindsay, who feels a bit out of her depth as she is forced to show support and put on a strong front, even though her marriage appears to be unraveling behind closed doors.
Josh and Lindsay’s polished facade is put in jeopardy when Austin and Ashley (Melton and Spaeny), a newly married couple and staff members at the country club, accidentally stumble into their private turmoil, setting the stage for a tension-filled season where boiling animosities begin to spill over.
Co-starring William Fichtner, Mikaela Hoover, and K-pop rapper BM, Beef is set to return with Season 2 on Thursday, April 16th, only on Netflix.

📺 “Euphoria: Season 3” New Trailer: Zendaya Returns as Rue Faces New Dangers Beyond High School in Likely Final Chapter of HBO’s Emmy-Winning Drama with Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow & Hunter Schafer — Premieres Sun, April 12th on HBO
Euphoria might go down as one of the most cutting-edge shows in recent memory. Not necessarily because of the subject matter of its stories, although they are pretty provocative, but because of its now-iconic cast. It may ultimately be remembered as the show that launched several of Hollywood’s biggest stars, while also giving them bold material to really showcase what they can do.
As a new third season (likely its final chapter) is set to debut this month, it feels less like a continuation and more like a reunion, catching up with where these characters have landed. Much of that shift comes from the time jump, which moves the story several years ahead, placing everyone firmly beyond their high school years. After all, it’s been about four years since Season 2 premiered, with delays largely tied to the writers’ and actors’ strikes, along with a cast that has since become busier and in high demand.
Series honcho Sam Levinson shapes this new season into a natural evolution, showing how much these characters have changed while still remaining tethered to the trauma and choices that defined them. Zendaya’s Rue is still trying to stay afloat, juggling addiction and mounting debts while attempting to stay clean and hold herself together. But when she crosses paths with a dangerous new figure (played by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), she’s pulled deeper into trouble, ultimately landing in Mexico accused of being a drug mule. Meanwhile, her former classmates are facing their own uneasy transitions into adulthood.
Nate (Jacob Elordi) is now running his own construction business, while his new bride, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney), is carving out her own lane as a paid online model—only to drift into darker territory with the help of Maddy (Alexa Demie). Jules (Hunter Schafer), meanwhile, is living a more isolated, upscale life that comes with its own complications, seemingly working as a high-end call girl. On the other end is Lexi (Maude Apatow), now working in the television industry under a demanding boss (played by Sarah Stone). Everyone’s grown... but not necessarily grown out of their bad habits.
Rounding out the cast are newcomers Danielle Deadwyler, Marshawn Lynch, Natasha Lyonne, Rosalía, and Kadeem Hardison, while the late Eric Dane returns one last time as Nate’s father, Cal; a man whose past remains tangled with Jules.
Produced with A24, the series remains one of HBO’s biggest hits, with 25 Emmy nominations and nine wins across its first two seasons. Season 3 premieres Sunday, April 12th on HBO, with episodes streaming weekly on HBO Max. Sure, the setting may have changed... but the instability hasn’t.
📺 “Cape Fear” Teaser: Javier Bardem Steps Into an Iconic Villain Role of Max Cady in Apple’s Modern Reimagining with Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson — Premieres June 5th on Apple TV
When director Martin Scorsese took on the tense 1991 thriller Cape Fear, many critics questioned his decision to revisit a classic like the 1962 original. What could he possibly bring to the story? Well, for one, it delivered one of Robert De Niro’s most unhinged and terrifying performances to date; a truly mesmerizing turn that we’re still quoting today: “Heeeey, counselor! Is that you?”
Max Cady might be one of the most fascinating villains ever put to screen, someone who is justified in feeling wronged by the system that failed him, but also rightly deserves to be put behind bars for the rest of his life. Mainly because he’s a sociopath capable of calculated cruelty. He’s a convicted killer whose own attorney deliberately withheld evidence that could have altered his fate. Now, most movies would stop there, with the attorney deemed a hero for putting a dangerous man behind bars, despite the questionable ethics it took to do so. Cape Fear, on the other hand, puts those ethics on trial, where Max Cady becomes both judge and executioner.
So, it’s such a juicy part. Who could possibly follow what Robert De Niro did in the 1991 version... or even what Robert Mitchum did in the 1962 original? Well, none other than Anton Chigurh—that’s who.
Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem will once again tap into that same dark intensity, this time playing his version of Max Cady for an upcoming Apple TV series, also starring Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson.
Produced by both Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, this modern take on Cape Fear will seemingly follow the same core story: set against a blistering summer in the South, convicted killer Max Cady is released from prison after finding a way to overturn his life sentence. Now setting his sights on defense attorney Tom Bowden (Wilson), whom he believes betrayed him, Cady is extremely deliberate in how he operates within the boundaries of the law to torment and stalk Tom, his wife (Adams), and their teenage child. Things come to a head when Tom makes the decision to take a more aggressive approach to protect his family, triggering a volatile showdown that places everyone in jeopardy.
Created by Nick Antosca (A Friend of the Family, The Act), with filmmaker Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) directing the pilot, the ten-episode thriller draws from both John D. MacDonald’s novel The Executioners and the previous film adaptations, offering a modern reimagining of a classic that shows just how thin the line between justice and revenge can be.
Cape Fear premieres Friday, June 5th on Apple TV.
📺 “Widow’s Bay” Teaser: Matthew Rhys Plays a Mayor Battling Small-Town Curses in Apple’s Darkly Comic Supernatural Series — Premieres Wed, April 29th on Apple TV
Every small town has its charming history. But sometimes that charm hides something far darker than anyone would want to admit. But for a mayor looking to boost its tourism, it’s going to be a major problem if the town has a sinister reputation to shake.
That’s the issue Matthew Rhys is facing in this new Apple original series Widow’s Bay, a darkly comic supernatural series set on a foggy island off the New England coast, where a small-town community is struggling as it grapples with bad rumors and local legends that might not be that far from the truth.
Rhys, who is mostly known for his dramatic work in such shows as The Americans, Perry Mason, and The Beast in Me, gets to show off some of that dry wit as Mayor Tom Loftis, a well-meaning but outmatched local official determined to revive the town by turning it into a tourist hotspot, despite one major problem: the island has no Wi-Fi, barely any signal, and a reputation for being cursed.
Against the warnings of locals who know better, Loftis pushes forward with his plan... and somehow, it works. Visitors start arriving, bringing new life (and money) into the town. But the moment things begin to look up, the stories everyone dismissed as superstition start to prove themselves very real, turning this seaside getaway into a nightmare.
Co-created by comic screenwriter Katie Dippold (The Heat, Haunted Mansion) and co-created and partly directed by Hiro Murai (Barry, The Bear), the series leans into a mix of offbeat humor and creeping horror, balancing civic ambition with supernatural mayhem. Rhys leads a strong ensemble that includes Kate O’Flynn, Stephen Root, Kevin Carroll, Kingston Rumi Southwick, and Dale Dickey, all navigating a small New England town where supernatural forces might know the island better than its residents.
With additional episodes directed by filmmakers Ti West (Pearl, MaXXXine), Andrew DeYoung (Friendship), and Sam Donovan, Widow’s Bay is slated to premiere Wednesday, April 29th on Apple TV.
📺 “Amadeus” U.S. Trailer: Will Sharpe and Paul Bettany Ignite a Legendary Rivalry Fueled by Genius, Jealousy, and Obsession in This New British Miniseries — Streaming May 8th on STARZ
More than 40 years after director Miloš Forman’s classic Amadeus, a new British miniseries revisits the volatile world of Mozart and Salieri... where genius dazzles, but envy cuts deeper. Like the 1984 film, this leans into the dark, often satirical side of fame, exploring how talent, ego, and insecurity collide in a world that doesn’t always reward brilliance.
Will Sharpe (The White Lotus: Season 2) plays Mozart as a bold, volatile force arriving in Vienna hungry for freedom and recognition, while Paul Bettany (WandaVision, Avengers) brings a simmering intensity to Salieri, a devout composer and the King-appointed court musician, shaken by the realization that Mozart’s talent may be both a divine gift and his personal torment. Created and written by Joe Barton (Giri/Haji, The Lazarus Project), this marks a new take on the 1979 stage play that inspired the Oscar-winning film. Some geniuses inspire awe. Others invite ire.
