📺 “Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord” Trailer: Sam Witwer Voices the Vengeful Sith as He Seeks a New Apprentice in Dave Filoni’s Dark Animated Series — Premieres Mon, April 6th on Disney+
There are certain traditions in Star Wars lore: for instance, no matter whether you’re a Jedi Master or a Sith Lord, there’s always an apprentice by your side. It’s a custom that George Lucas picked up from classic mythology and samurai and martial arts traditions. The idea here is that knowledge is always passed down, and to truly harness the Force, one must first complete the journey from apprentice to master.
Now picture that dilemma for someone like Darth Maul, a fallen Sith who has a bone to pick with the Empire after a double cross and a failed assassination. Now driven by revenge, he must choose someone to take under his wing, shaping them into a powerful weapon to help him destroy the Empire himself. That’s the basic gist behind Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, the upcoming animated series from new Lucasfilm honcho Dave Filoni.
Featuring the voice talents of longtime Lucasfilm collaborator Sam Witwer as Maul, the series finally taps into the character’s long-untapped potential, placing the former Sith at the center of his own story. Set in the uneasy aftermath of The Clone Wars, Maul is no longer a servant of the Galactic Empire, leaving him to rebuild from the shadows. While piecing together his revenge against the Empire, Maul quietly searches for a new apprentice to train.
As Maul sets his sights on a young Twi’lek Jedi apprentice named Devon Izara (voiced by Blockers actress Gideon Adlon), others who share the same disdain for the Empire begin to wonder if Maul could be an ally… or an even more dangerous villain.
British comedian Richard Ayoade and recent Oscar-nominee Wagner Moura, of The Secret Agent, round out the voice cast, while Filoni serves as creator and co-showrunner alongside Matt Michnovetz as they continue expanding the animated side of the Star Wars universe with a darker, more character-driven focus. And if the trailer is any indication, this is Maul stepping out of the margins and finally showing what he’s capable of when he’s calling the shots.
Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord premieres Monday, April 6th on Disney+.

📺 “This Is a Gardening Show” Trailer: Zach Galifianakis Digs Into Dirt, Curiosity, and Connection in Netflix’s Whimsical New Gardening Series — Premieres Wed, April 22nd on Netflix
Comedian Zach Galifianakis is a man of many talents: he can make us laugh until our bellies hurt, he can star in big blockbuster comedies, and he can even pull off extremely awkward sit-down interviews with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, with nothing but two ferns behind him. Now add gardening to his toolbox, as he digs into a new Netflix series that swaps punchlines for plant life. Though knowing Zach, things are bound to get a little weird along the way.
In the upcoming agriculture series This Is a Gardening Show, Galifianakis (who, many might not know, owns a farm in North Carolina) steps into a world usually reserved for green thumbs and seasoned pros. But who needs another boring gardening show when Galifianakis brings his trademark offbeat charm, curiosity, and disarming honesty into the mix, learning as he goes and keeping things anything but traditional.
“If I were to offer a remedy to the human condition, it would be a garden,” Galifianakis asserts in this trailer for the upcoming series before dropping his signature deadpan, “or acid.”
What starts as a simple attempt to learn about gardening gradually opens into something more human: whimsical conversations, small observations, and a genuine appreciation for the people and environments around him. And that’s really the hook. This seemingly simple series isn’t about mastering techniques or building the perfect garden. It’s about slowing down, paying attention, and finding a connection… to the earth, to others, and maybe even to yourself.
This Is a Gardening Show premieres Tuesday, April 22nd on Netflix.
