And if one of them fails you, the other might not be enough to keep you alive.
Theo James returns for Season 2 of Guy Ritchie’s gangster crime series as Eddie Horniman, now fully immersed in the criminal empire he once stumbled into. Initially reluctant to get involved in the family weed business, Eddie, an English aristocrat and the Duke of Halstead, has now gotten a taste for power and an appetite for ambition. He wants to expand the operation beyond England, putting him increasingly at odds with mob king Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone). But with Bobby’s daughter, who happens to be Eddie’s partner in crime, Susie Glass (Kaya Scodelario), caught between them, Eddie’s expansion plans could put more than just the business at risk. But then again, they often say, no risk, no reward. In this case, however, risk means death, and reward means more power and money than Eddie could ever need. But once he steps over that line, there’s no coming back to the gentleman’s life he came from.
Based on Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name, The Gentlemen is a spiritual spin-off set in the same London cannabis underworld, where deals are made with bullets and blood often serves as the ink on the dotted line.
The Netflix series, which has already been greenlit for a third season, has been in the news lately, as Meghan Markle (the American actress from Suits turned Duchess of Sussex) was rumored to be making her acting return with a role in the series. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, Markle is already getting plenty of backlash in England for even considering a return to her former profession, since apparently stepping back into the acting world is still viewed as a no-no and not exactly respectable in the eyes of the British monarchy. Go figure. That being said, the monarchy isn’t exactly the barometer for respectability these days.
“All bets are off,” a Netflix casting executive cryptically responded in a recent interview when asked about the reports surrounding Markle’s possible role in Season 3. What exactly does that even mean? Your guess is as good as any.

Created and developed by showrunner Lee Eisenberg (Jury Duty, Bad Teacher) and Schitt’s Creek producer-writer David West Read, along with McConaughey and Harrelson, this satirical series pokes fun at their celebrity personas, real-life friendship, and the possibility that their brotherly bond may be more literal than either of them ever imagined.
Also starring Holland Taylor as McConaughey’s wisecracking mother, Ma Mac, as well as Brittany Ishibashi as Harrelson’s wife, Joy, with Natalie Martinez, Nolan Almeida, Ella Grace Helton, Noah Carganilla, Highdee Kuan, and Oona Yaffe rounding out the cast, the comedy series offers two of Hollywood’s most recognizable personalities a chance to poke fun at themselves and each other as they try to live by the mantra: “Just keep livin’, man. L-I-V-I-N.”
Brothers is slated to premiere Wednesday, September 23rd, on Apple TV with its first two episodes, followed by new episodes weekly through November 4th.
