✪ “King of the Hill: Season 14” Trailer: Hank, Peggy, and a Grown-Up Bobby Return in the Long-Awaited Revival from Creator Mike Judge — Premiering August 4th on Hulu and Disney+
Admit it, Hank Hill might not have been the perfect father, but he was certainly someone we all wished we had as a family member—dependable, honest, and just quirky enough to keep the backyard BBQs interesting. Well, after watching 13 seasons of Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ beloved animated series King of the Hill, it also felt like we were part of the family too. And when the show went off the air back in 2009, nearly 16 years ago, a part of us also felt like everyone moved out of the neighborhood... almost like the sound of a lawnmower suddenly going quiet on a Saturday morning.
Well, it's time to rip open those beers again! And fire up the propane grill too! ’Cause King of the Hill is back! Yep! Hank Hill will make his glorious return next month, and so will his no-nonsense, propane-powered worldview. Expect plenty of straight talk, clean lawns, and confused sighs as Hank navigates a modern world that just doesn’t seem to appreciate propane—nor propane accessories—like it used to.
With a decade and a half missing from our TV sets, King of the Hill has been resurrected for its 14th season... a revival series that will age all of its characters appropriately, as the show will reflect the real-world passage of time. That means Bobby’s all grown up (kind of), Hank’s facing a more complicated world than ever, and Arlen, Texas has a few new quirks. But it’s still the same neighborhood we know and love.
It seems after a stint abroad selling propane in Saudi Arabia for his gas company, Hank and Peggy return to their old stomping grounds of Arlen, Texas as newly retirees. But their return comes just in time to reconnect with old pals Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby’s all grown up, cooking up a storm as a chef in Dallas and navigating adulthood with his former school chums Connie, Joseph, and Chane.
Mike Judge and Greg Daniels are back as executive producers, as the animated series returns with 10 brand-new episodes. So, expect father-son showdowns over grills, gadgets, and generational wisdom, as Hank wrestles with a world full of social media, cell phones, and apps... and Bobby just tries to earn his dad’s handshake (hugs are out).
The more things change, the more propane stays the same. Featuring a returning voice cast that includes Pamela Adlon as Bobby, Kathy Najimy as Peggy, and Judge as Hank, King of the Hill is set to return Monday, August 4th on Hulu and Disney+.
✪ “Sausage Party: Foodtopia: Season 2” Trailer: Seth Rogen’s Frank Frankfurter Faces a Snack-Run Empire in New Season of Raunchy Animated Comedy Series — Premiering August 13th on Prime Video
Don’t let these funny-looking food characters fool you. Just beneath the sausage casing lies an unyielding idealistic passion for a food utopia where edible beings reign supreme. But making it happen is a whole different recipe.
The Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg-produced animated comedy Sausage Party kicked things off as a raunchy, adult-themed romp about food—but quickly turned the tables on its own absurd premise. What starts as a foul-mouthed grocery store adventure soon becomes a full-blown revolution, as sentient snacks, buns, and condiments fight back against their human oppressors in the name of freedom, flavor, and a little bit of fridge-based anarchy.
The story continued last year as an Amazon original animated series, Sausage Party: Foodtopia, which showed us that a utopia might sound great on paper. But building one? That’s a whole other food fight. When egos clash, supplies run low, and some food starts talking revolution, our favorite foul-mouthed edibles quickly learn that creating a perfect society isn’t as easy as escaping the shopping cart.
And now the snacks are hitting the fan in the forthcoming Season 2 of Sausage Party: Foodtopia. And after rising to the top of the food chain, Frank Frankfurter (Seth Rogen), Barry Sausage (Michael Cera), and Sammy Bagel Jr. (Edward Norton) set out to discover a new food refuge—a home where everyone can live in harmony.
They venture out for the first time, and they’re shocked to discover a megalopolis where food isn’t just surviving... it’s thriving. A whole city run entirely by sentient snacks—with humans forced to serve their edible overlords. But beneath the shiny coating lies a deeper rot. And it’s only a matter of time before our heroes realize that even in a food-run world, someone always gets eaten. And with Foodtopia now in their sights, this megalopolis may be the biggest threat since humans—forcing our edible heroes to choose: join the empire... or bite back.
The second serving of Sausage Party: Foodtopia is set to premiere Wednesday, August 13th on Prime Video. Come hungry... preferably with an empty stomach.
✪ “The Hunting Wives” Trailer: Brittany Snow Gets Caught in Malin Akerman’s Web of Wealth, Lust, and Murder in This New Sultry Southern Series Based on May Cobb’s Best-Seller — Premiering July 21st on Netflix
You know what they say about Texas... everything's bigger—including the drama, the personalities, and the scandals.
Southern hospitality takes a deadly turn in this new steamy Netflix series The Hunting Wives, in which Pitch Perfect actress Brittany Snow stars as Sophie O’Neil, a married woman from Boston who’s traded big-city life for a quieter existence with her family in a wealthy Southern town in East Texas. There, she soon crosses paths with Margo Banks (Malin Akerman), a magnetic Southern socialite with a flair for danger and a posse of equally alluring women known as the Hunting Wives. Sophie quickly learns the ropes as she is lured into Margo’s inner circle of high-society temptresses.
What starts as casual cocktails and clay pigeons soon spirals into a whirlwind of late-night parties, forbidden desires, and increasingly reckless behavior. Underneath Margo’s intoxicating charm lies a dark edge, and Sophie finds herself pulled deeper into a world where the rules don’t apply... at least not to the wealthy and well-connected. But when jealousy flares and a murder rocks the community, Sophie realizes she may have become prey in a game she never intended to play.
Based on May Cobb’s best-selling novel, the series also stars Dermot Mulroney, Jaime Ray Newman, Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Katie Lowes, and Chrissy Metz.
Executive produced by Rebecca Cutter, The Hunting Wives appears to be a sultry blend of suspense and seduction where Southern charms lead to lies and lethal secrets. The series is due to premiere on Monday, July 21st on Netflix.
✪ “Acapulco: Season 4” Trailer: Eugenio Derbez Returns for One Last Sun-Soaked Summer in Final Season of Apple’s Feel-Good Bilingual Comedy — Premiering July 23rd on Apple TV+
The final check-in is here!
Apple’s feel-good bilingual comedy series Acapulco returns this month with its final fourth season, with Mexican superstar Eugenio Derbez back to lead the cast.
The series, created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros, and Jason Shuman— inspired by Derbez’s 2017 gigolo comedy How to Be a Latin Lover—tells parallel storylines and timelines of Derbez’s character Máximo: one in present day, where Máximo (Eugenio Derbez) is racing to revive the legendary resort before its grand reopening, and the other where a younger Máximo (Enrique Arrizon) is going head-to-head with rival hotels to reclaim Las Colinas’s crown as Acapulco’s top destination in 1986.
With sun-soaked nostalgia, heartfelt laughs, and plenty of resort drama, this season is the ultimate farewell and celebration to Acapulco, one of Mexico’s greatest destination spots.
Joining Derbez and Arrizon, the ensemble cast includes returning cast members Fernando Carsa, Rafael Cebrián, Vanessa Bauche, Camila Perez, Carlos Corona, Chord Overstreet, Regina Reynoso, Jessica Collins, and Regina Orozco—alongside beloved regulars Damián Alcázar, Jaime Camil, Cristo Fernández, and Carolina Moreno. Plus, new faces Keyla Monterroso Mejia and Omar Chaparro bring fresh energy to the series’ final summer.
Acapulco Season 4 is set to premiere Wednesday, July 23rd on Apple TV+.
✪ “Unforgivable” Trailer: Bobby Schofield and Anna Friel Confront the Scars of the Past in BBC’s Haunting New Redemption Drama Miniseries from BAFTA-winner Jimmy McGovern — Premieres July 24th on BBC Two in the U.K.
If the Netflix smash hit Adolescence taught us anything, it’s that British television goes straight for the jugular and doesn’t shy away from tackling hard subjects. Add Unforgivable, a new BBC miniseries, onto that pile, as it will surely have people talking about the limits of redemption and the weight of guilt that never quite fades.
In this powerful new BBC miniseries from BAFTA-winning television writer Jimmy McGovern (Time, The Street), redemption and reckoning go hand in hand. After serving time for a horrific act of abuse against his own family, Joe (Bobby Schofield, from the WWII SAS series Rogue Heroes) is released from prison and placed at St Maura’s—a quiet institution offering shelter, rehabilitation, and a chance to confront the past he’d rather forget.
But the question is: is Joe worthy of salvation? Can he ever right the wrongs he did to his own family? Under the guidance of ex-nun Katherine (Anna Maxwell Martin, from Motherland), Joe begins therapy sessions aimed at uncovering the roots of his crime.
But healing isn’t one-sided. His sister Anna (Anna Friel, from Monarch and Pushing Daisies) is left to pick up the shattered pieces of her own life, struggling to protect her children, Tom (Austin Haynes) and Peter (Fin McParland), while caring for their ailing father Brian (David Threlfall, from Shameless).
Unforgivable appears to be a searing, emotionally complex drama that asks: can someone be forgiven—no matter the crime?
Premiering July 24th on BBC Two in the U.K. U.S. release date still to be announced.
