New TV Trailers: Jason Momoa's Chief of War and Outlander: Blood of My Blood
Watch newly released trailers for two highly anticipated TV shows, coming this August: Chief of War and Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
✪ “Chief of War” Full Trailer: Jason Momoa Leads a Fierce Polynesian Battle in Apple’s Epic Hawaiian Saga with Temuera Morrison, Luciane Buchanan, and Cliff Curtis — Premiering August 1st on Apple TV+
After showing off his comedic chops in this year’s blockbuster A Minecraft Movie, Jason Momoa might have carved out his own path in family-friendly adventure fare, trading in his trident for punchlines and pixelated chaos. But lest you think Momoa is ready to hang up his battle axe, he reminds us why he was so memorable in things like Game of Thrones. He’s simply awesome at portraying fierce warriors—the kind who charge into battle with a mighty roar and zero regard for personal safety.
In this new Apple original series Chief of War, Jason Momoa leads a powerhouse Polynesian cast in this sweeping historical saga of blood, betrayal, and unbreakable spirit. Set in late 18th-century Hawai‘i, the series chronicles the brutal and breathtaking journey of unification and colonization, told boldly through the eyes of the islands’ own people.
Momoa, who also serves as co-creator of the series with his producing and writing partner Thomas Pa’a Sibbett (The Last Manhunt, Braven), both channeling their Native Hawaiian roots, takes on the role of Native Hawaiian hero Kaʻiana, a real-life historical figure whose battles and alliances led to the eventual merger of the main tribes in Hawai‘i.
While providing an unflinching, ground-level view of a pivotal moment in Pacific history, Chief of War dramatizes the violent clash of kingdoms, cultures, and colonial forces during the unification of Hawai‘i in the late 18th century, where every alliance, every battle, and every sacrifice reshaped the future of the nation.
Momoa is joined by a stellar ensemble cast that includes Temuera Morrison (Aquaman, The Book of Boba Fett), Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), Te Ao O’Hinepehinga Rauna (Breakwater), Siua Ikale’o (NCIS: Hawai‘i), Te Kohe Tuhaka (The Dead Lands), and Cliff Curtis (The Meg, Whale Rider).
With actor-turned-filmmaker Justin Chon (Pachinko) directing the first two episodes of the series, while Momoa steps behind the camera for the season finale, Chief of War is not only exploring a long-overlooked historical saga, it will also feature a theme score by Grammy and Academy Award–winning composer Hans Zimmer.
So don’t expect just another typical period drama. Expect sweeping volcanic battles and a warrior’s legacy that needs to be unearthed, honored, and retold with the fire it deserves when Chief of War debuts with a two-episode premiere starting Friday, August 1st on Apple TV+.

✪ “Outlander: Blood of My Blood” Trailer: This New Prequel Spinoff Series Dives Into the History of Jamie and Claire’s Parents with Dual Love Stories Across Time — Premiering August 8th on STARZ
The wild success of Outlander and the rabid fanbase of Diana Gabaldon's books on which the series is based proves yet again that if you put sweeping romance against the backdrop of time travel, audiences will show up. Because nothing says timeless love like passionate yearnings echoing across centuries.
It’s a winning formula that seems to tap into people’s deepest desires and belief that no matter how far, fractured, or forbidden—love will always conquer whatever time throws in its way. With that being said, STARZ isn’t ready to let go of one of their most popular shows, as the network is planning to launch a prequel spinoff next month. And it seems a little far-fetched, but we bet it won’t stop Outlander fans from tuning in every week. Because if there’s one thing these fans love more than a good love story, it’s more of it... with a twisty timeline to boot.
This time (no pun intended), Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be tracing not one but two love stories destined to shape the future of fan favorites Jamie and Claire Fraser.
Set in two vastly different eras—18th-century Scotland and WWI-era England—the series uncovers how Jamie’s parents, Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) and Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater), and Claire’s parents, Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield), each defied the odds to find their great loves.
This prequel aims to show that Jamie and Claire Fraser weren’t just destined to be together, but also that sweeping, star-crossed romance apparently runs in the family. And their parents just might have set the stage for everything to come.
Executive produced by Outlander creator/executive producer Ronald D. Moore and showrun by Matthew B. Roberts, Outlander: Blood of My Blood features a stellar supporting cast including Tony Curran, Peter Mullan, Rory Alexander, and Sara Vickers.
While deepening the mythology of the Outlander universe, the series promises more kilts, corsets, trenches, and plenty of heartache. Prepare to get misty-eyed when Outlander: Blood of My Blood debuts Friday, August 8th on STARZ.
