šŗ āBlade Runner 2099ā NY Comic-Con Trailer: Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer Are Unlikely Allies in New āBlade Runnerā Sequel Series Set 80 Years After the Original Film ā Debuting Wednesday, November 25th on Prime Video
Hereās a fun fact: Ridley Scottās landmark sci-fi noir thriller Blade Runner was released 44 years ago, yet the film itself was set in Los Angeles in 2019. Itās funny how far off the movie was with its predictions of the future, and yet how its questions about humanity, technology, and artificial intelligence remain remarkably prescient.
Even today, political and cultural debates surrounding identity and artificial intelligence echo many of the filmās original concerns. āMore human than human.ā Itās one of the most memorable lines from the original film, and one that has become central to the franchiseās enduring existential question: What makes us human? But perhaps the bigger question isnāt what makes us human, but how we can be less inhuman to one another.
Amazon Studios has just unveiled a brand-new New York Comic Con trailer for Blade Runner 2099, the upcoming sequel series to the iconic sci-fi franchise, starring Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh and Euphoria star Hunter Schafer as two unlikely allies forced to work together despite their mutual distrust, only to find themselves confronting the same existential question that has haunted the franchise from the beginning: What does it really mean to be human?
And as the title suggests, this new series takes place 80 years after the events of the original film and 50 years after its sequel, Blade Runner 2049. After decades of conflict between humans and replicants, the balance of power appears to have shifted, with replicants emerging as the dominant force while humans are forced to run and hide.
Schafer plays Cora, a human fugitive forced to assume the identity of a Blade Runner, now an officially sanctioned bounty hunter tasked with tracking down humans. Meanwhile, Yeoh plays Olwen, an aging replicant Blade Runner whose life is nearing its end, but who isnāt quite ready to give up on living.
When the two are unexpectedly paired together, they must put aside their shared suspicions and differences as they navigate a world where both are hiding deeply personal secrets and facing the prospect of becoming obsolete.
The sci-fi series was created by Shining Girls creator Silka Luisa, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Ridley Scott. ShÅgun director Jonathan van Tulleken helms the first two episodes.
Dimitri Abold, Tom Burke, Lewis Gribben, Matthew Needham, and Johnny Harris round out the cast.
Blade Runner 2099 is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on Wednesday, November 25th.

šŗ āStick: Season 2ā Trailer: Owen Wilson Mounts an Underdog Comeback with Rhea Seehorn, Timothy Olyphant, and Marc Maron in Appleās Golf Dramedy Series ā Premieres Wednesday, November 4th on Apple TV
What makes a good underdog sports story? Well, itās gotta have the kind of comeback that gets the audience on its feet and cheering by the end. In a strange way, itās almost structured like a heist movie. You need a seemingly impossible mission, a good team backing up your unlikely hero, and plenty of obstacles standing between them and the finish line. And, of course, someone you actually want to see pull it off.
Owen Wilsonās Apple TV golf dramedy Stick is a little like that. Much in the vein of Kingpin and Tin Cup, Wilson plays the kind of washed-up sports figure whoās seen better days but has learned to get by on his easygoing charm. Season one wasnāt so much a comeback story for his character, Pryce āStickā Cahill, as it was about putting his old golfing skills to good use by coaching a promising young upstart named Santi Wheeler (Peter Dager).
Through his efforts in Season One, Stick rekindled his love for golf and became something of a mentor and father figure to Santi, the son he never had. But Season Two looks to be flipping the script. This time, itās Stickās turn to chase a little glory, following that familiar sports-movie formula of an aging, washed-up former pro coming out of retirement for one last shot at the big time.
And whoās pushing him back onto the course? Well, itās his old rival, Clark Ross (Timothy Olyphant), whoās now a golf entrepreneur with a business proposition. Clark is willing to bankroll Stickās comeback, but thereās a catch. He wants Stick to become the face of his new business venture by doing something that sounds downright impossible: becoming the oldest golfer ever to win the U.S. Open.
So, like any good heist movie, Stick needs to assemble a crew to pull this off. Enter: recent Emmy winner Rhea Seehorn (Pluribus, Better Call Saul) as his new brilliant golf coach, Amanda.
Comedian Marc Maron is also back as Stickās longtime friend and trusty caddie, Mitts, while Santi returns as his biggest cheerleader. Rounding out the familiar faces are Mariana TreviƱo as Santiās mother, Elena Wheeler, and Judy Greer as Stickās ex-wife, Amber-Lynn.
Created and executive produced by Jason Keller (screenwriter of Ford v Ferrari), Stick returns for its second season on Wednesday, November 4th, on Apple TV, with 10 new episodes.
So, if youāre looking for an old-school underdog sports story with plenty of heart, a lot of humor, and some sassy quips from a cheeky cast of characters, this might be right up your alley.

šŗ āThe Good Daughterā Trailer: Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy Play Estranged Sisters Forced to Confront a Violent Past and Some Long-Buried Family Secrets in This Twisty Southern Gothic Crime Thriller With Brendan Gleeson ā Premiering Thursday, November 12th on Peacock
They say that when siblings go through something traumatic together, theyāre bonded for life. Well, this new mystery-thriller series, starring Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy as two estranged sisters, is about to put that theory to the test. Because just because youāve shared something traumatic doesnāt mean youāll stay close forever. Sometimes, itās the very thing that ends up tearing you apart.
In this new six-episode miniseries, The Good Daughter, Byrne and Fahy play Samantha and Charlotte Quinn, two sisters whose lives were shattered by a horrific act of violence twenty years ago, when they were just teenagers. Theyāve since gone their separate ways. Charlotte (Fahy) stayed behind in their small Georgia hometown, following in their fatherās footsteps as a defense attorney, while Samantha (Byrne) got the heck out of Dodge and made quite a name for herself as a high-powered lawyer at a big New York City firm.
But when another violent attack involving a teenage girl rocks their hometown, in a case that feels all too familiar, Charlotte finds herself caught right in the middle of it. And wouldnāt you know it, the whole ordeal brings Samantha back home for the first time in a decade. Needless to say, thereās plenty of unfinished business between these two sisters, not to mention some painful old wounds that never really healed.
But lest you think this is some heartwarming sisterly reunion where everyone hugs, cries, and makes up over a cup of coffee ... think again. This feels much more like a modern Southern Gothic tale about how unimaginable violence can bind us together, tear us apart, and ultimately force us to confront the very things weāve spent our lives trying to forget.
And perhaps finding justice for crimes left unanswered might be the one thing that finally brings these two sisters together. Of course, that also means digging up some painful truths that neither of them is quite ready to face.
Based on the bestselling crime novel by Karin Slaughter, who also created, wrote, and serves as showrunner for the series, this six-part thriller also stars Brendan Gleeson as the sistersā father, a controversial criminal defense attorney with a complicated family history of his own, whoās now laid up in a hospital bed. His request to bring Samantha back home to take on the case sets off a chain of events that forces the entire family to confront a past theyāve spent twenty years trying to put behind them.
The Good Daughter is set to premiere Thursday, November 12th on Peacock.

šŗ āThe Altruistsā Trailer: Julia Garner and Anthony Boyle Star in This New True-Story Miniseries About the $8 Billion FTX Cryptocurrency Scandal from Graham Moore, Oscar-Winning Writer of āThe Imitation Gameā ā Premieres Thursday, November 19th on Netflix
Talk about range. Julia Garner earned three Emmy Awards playing the foul-mouthed, tough-as-nails Ruth Langmore in Netflixās acclaimed crime drama Ozark. Now sheās back with Netflix and back in the crime game, only this time sheās trading Ruthās fiery temper and take-no-prisoners attitude for someone a little more unassuming... dare we say, a little nerdy?
In The Altruists, a new limited series dramatizing the real-life FTX cryptocurrency scandal, Garner takes on the role of Caroline Ellison, the former CEO of Alameda Research, who, alongside FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried, found herself at the center of a financial scandal involving billions of dollars.
Irish actor Anthony Boyle, whom you may recognize from Apple TVās Masters of the Air and FXās Say Nothing, plays Bankman-Fried, the ambitious young tech entrepreneur who teams up with Ellison in hopes of revolutionizing the financial world through cryptocurrency. The idea? A new kind of financial system promising greater freedom, fewer middlemen, and less interference from traditional banks. Sounds pretty good on paper. Unfortunately, things donāt quite work out that way. Their grand ambitions eventually come crashing down in a spectacular fraud scandal, leaving billions in customer funds missing and both facing serious criminal consequences.
Now, one could argue that cryptocurrency offers an alternative to traditional banking, giving people the freedom to move money without relying on bank executives or middlemen, and with fewer restrictions and less government oversight. Well, thatās all good and dandy. But when billions of dollars suddenly go missing and youāre the one left holding the bag, that financial freedom doesnāt sound quite so appealing anymore. After all, itās easy to gamble with other peopleās money. When itās your own savings on the line? Well... thatās another story.
Series creator Graham Moore, the Oscar-winning screenwriter behind The Imitation Game, looks to get at the heart of the scandal by focusing on Bankman-Fried and Ellisonās complicated relationship, their lofty ambitions, and how their plans to change the financial world spiraled into a tangled mess of greed, deception, and financial ruin for so many people. Because when it comes to money, thereās one rule thatās probably worth remembering: if something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
Co-starring Alex Lawther (The End of the F--king World*), Karan Soni (_Deadpool), Paul Reiser (Stranger Things), Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing), and Robin Weigert (Deadwood), The Altruists premieres Thursday, November 19th, on Netflix.

Except these kids arenāt training to become superheroes. Theyāre just trying to survive. And now, in Season 2 of this MGM+ original, escaping was only half of it. Thanks in part to former cop Tim Jamieson (Ben Barnes), telekinetic teen Luke Ellis (Joe Freeman) and his fellow survivors are finally free. Taking down the whole rotten organization? Thatās another.
