🎥 “Wardriver” Trailer: Dane DeHaan’s Lone Hacker Gets Pulled Into a Cyber-Heist With No Clean Exit in This Neo-Noir Heist Thriller With Sasha Calle, Jeffrey Donovan & Mamoudou Athie — In Theaters March 20th and on VOD/Digital March 27th
There are two types of crimes: the ones you get caught for, and the ones you get away with. Then there’s the third kind—the one where you think you’re in control, only to discover you were already caught before you even knew the game had started.
Dane DeHaan plays a would-be criminal trapped in that third scenario, convinced he’s ahead of the game, only to realize the caper is far more complicated than he ever imagined in this twisty heist thriller Wardriver, which also stars Sasha Calle as a femme fatale who might be playing him all along.
Directed by Rebecca Thomas (whose credits include the indie breakout Electrick Children and episodes of Stranger Things and Archive 81) and written by Daniel Casey (scribe of F9), this sleek neo-noir pressure cooker follows DeHaan’s Cole, a lone-wolf hacker who prowls city streets “wardriving,” breaking into bank networks from the safety of his car while convincing himself the damage is abstract.
But when Cole crosses paths with the alluring and mysterious Sarah (Sasha Calle, from The Rip and The Flash), who dangles a much bigger score—robbing her boss, a mob lawyer (Jeffrey Donovan of Burn Notice fame) whose day job is laundering massive sums of dirty money—his small-time hustle spirals into something far more dangerous, with consequences beyond anything he’s ever dealt with before. Further complicating matters is Cole’s associate, a black-market tech predator played by Mamoudou Athie (Jurassic World Dominion), who may see this score as an opportunity to make a move of his own.
Stealing code and hacking into networks might feel clean and simple, but once that code begins to signify laundered cash, everything changes. No one walks away without getting their hands a little dirty. Before long, keystrokes turn into bullets, and the idea of getting away scot-free disappears altogether.
Wardriver is scheduled to open in theaters March 20th, followed by a VOD/Digital release on March 27th.
🎥 “Glenrothan” International Trailer: Brian Cox and Alan Cumming Star as Estranged Brothers Facing Old Wounds and Family Legacy in This Heartfelt Scottish Drama — In U.K. Cinemas April 17th
Two of Scotland’s biggest and most beloved stars are coming together for a heartfelt brotherly drama about how forgiveness might be closer than you realize—if only you allow yourself to confront the wounds you’ve spent a lifetime avoiding.
Brian Cox, the Emmy-winning star of Succession, makes his feature directorial debut, returning to his home country of Scotland to star opposite fellow X-Men alum and Scottish compatriot Alan Cumming as two estranged brothers hoping to make amends after decades apart. Described as a love letter to the beautiful vistas of Scotland’s rugged Highlands, the film sets the stage for a family reunion filled with old resentments, unspoken regrets, and the fragile possibility of reconciliation.
Glenrothan follows Donal (Cumming) as he returns to Scotland with his two American-born daughters (one played by Alexandra Shipp) for the first time in decades. Hoping to patch things up with his estranged older brother Sandy (Cox), Donal soon finds himself caught between the life he built abroad and the one he abandoned. With Cox bringing his trademark gravitas and stoicism, Sandy is the brother who stayed home and quietly kept the family legacy alive. The reunion takes an unexpected turn when Sandy suddenly announces his retirement and offers Donal the keys to the family’s cherished 200-year-old distillery, Glenrothan, forcing both men to confront old wounds they never truly healed.
The film seemingly tips into family melodrama, as Cox’s directorial debut feels more like a traditional, old-fashioned character piece—one driven by family legacy, brotherly regret, and the emotional cost of coming home too late. It may appeal most to those looking for a performance-driven film that lets seasoned actors do most of the heavy lifting.
Also starring Shirley Henderson, Glenrothan is slated to open in U.K. cinemas April 17th. As of now, there’s no official U.S. release date.
🎥 “Blades of the Guardians” Teaser Trailer: Wu Jing Escorts the Empire’s Most Wanted Fugitive in Legendary Action Master Yuen Woo-Ping’s New Brutal Wuxia Epic with Jet Li — Arriving in U.S. Theaters February 17th
America has the Western. Japan has the samurai. And China has wuxia. But all three culturally specific genres share similar DNA in that moral codes are usually tested by violence, larger-than-life figures tend to navigate lawless worlds, and honor isn’t just something you talk about — it’s something you fight for, bleed for, and sometimes die for.
Legendary Chinese action maestro Yuen Woo-Ping, known to Western audiences for his groundbreaking stunt and wire work on films like the Matrix trilogy, the Kill Bill films, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, returns to the wuxia genre with what looks to be another heart-pumping, eye-popping action spectacle that treats combat as pure cinematic poetry.
At 80 years old, Woo-Ping steps back into the director’s chair, assembling an impressive lineup of Chinese and Hong Kong heavyweights including Wu Jing, Nicholas Tse, Tony Leung Ka-fai, Max Zhang, Kara Wai, and Jet Li, as he adapts Xianzhe Xu’s wildly popular “manhua” (Chinese comic book series) Biao Ren into a sweeping, large-scale wuxia epic.
Blades of the Guardians takes place during an era where honor has become a liability and the law has already been rotted from the inside. Wu Jing stars as Dao Ma, the “second most wanted fugitive,” a hardened blade-for-hire tasked with escorting an even deadlier prize: the empire’s most wanted outlaw (Jet Li, returning to the genre that built his career). What begins as a job quickly becomes a rolling gauntlet of ambushes and shifting alliances, as the road to safety is soon painted in blood and betrayal.
For those who still remember the heyday of ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s wuxia epics, this might just get the blood pumping all over again. And for anyone not familiar with this action genre from the East... well, you’re in for a real awakening. ’Cause there’s nothing better than watching someone wield a blade while spinning through the air, defying gravity, and kicking and punching their way through impossible odds with balletic fury.
Blades of the Guardians will be swooping into U.S. theaters February 17th.
🎥 “Dolly” Trailer: Innocent Hikers Face a Dollfaced Killer in This Grimy Grindhouse Drive-In Horror Throwback Starring Fabianne Therese & Seann William Scott — Hitting Theaters March 6th
Look, little more than two decades ago, during the height of the torture porn boom, horror was inundated with what felt like an endless assembly line of grim, joyless endurance tests. These were films far more interested in upping the ante on suffering than actually saying anything with it. Like all trends, the subgenre eventually burned out under its own excess, giving way to a new wave of moodier, more atmospheric horror that favored psychological unease over outright brutality.
Well, it seems the pendulum may be swinging back yet again, as a new horror film has emerged with its sights set firmly on reviving the raw, ugly, sweat-soaked energy of ‘70s exploitation cinema. And it’s exploding with grime and cruelty, wrapped around an out-there premise destined for instant cult status.
Dolly stars Fabianne Therese as Macy, a young woman who has joined her boyfriend Chase (played by American Pie’s Seann William Scott) on what was supposed to be a nice, quiet hike through the woods. While that might sound delightful on paper, it quickly turns into the worst decision of their lives when they stumble upon a terrifying campsite littered with doll parts hanging from the trees.
Soon, Macy finds herself abducted by a deranged, monster-like adult Doll figure (think Jason Voorhees, but dressed as a towering porcelain doll figurine) who drags her back to his secluded dollhouse in the middle of nowhere. Now held as the killer’s hostage, Macy realizes his intention is to raise her as his own child. Talk about the world’s most horrifying adoption process. So, what begins as a survival story quickly twists into something far more psychologically invasive, as Macy is forced to endure captivity not just as a victim, but as a warped substitute for family.
Shot with the look and style of ‘70s grindhouse drive-in horror, Dolly hails from writer-director Rod Blackhurst (best known as the writer behind Night Swim) and writer Brandon Weavil, based on their 2022 horror short Babygirl (watch it here).
Co-starring Ethan Suplee, Dolly is slated to open in theaters on March 6th, followed by an exclusive streaming release on Shudder later in the year. So, remember the next time you take that hiking trip, don’t forget: if you spot any doll parts lying around… run like hell.
