🎥 “Victorian Psycho” Teaser Trailer: Maika Monroe Unleashes Buttoned-Up Bloodlust in This Gothic Horror Satire — Coming to Theaters September 25th
Is evil something that can’t be contained once it takes hold? Could it be so irresistible, so intoxicating, that it turns an ordinary person into a willing participant in something monstrous? A kind of bloodlust, perhaps.
That’s the dilemma facing Maika Monroe, who stars as a Victorian-era woman seduced by violence in her latest trip into horror. Only this time, she gets to sink her teeth into the dark Gothic satire of female hysteria.
In the upcoming gothic thriller Victorian Psycho, Monroe stars as Winifred Notty, an eccentric young governess who arrives at Ensor House in 1858 and immediately turns the place into the kind of drafty nightmare where every candlelit hallway seems to be hiding a bad decision.
At first, Winifred appears to be settling into her new post. But then the staff begin to disappear, one by one, and the owners of the manor start wondering whether their mysterious new governess is merely odd... or something far more dangerous.
Monroe, already well-versed in horror tension thanks to her breakout turns in chillers such as It Follows and Longlegs, seems perfectly suited for this kind of buttoned-up madness, fully leaning into the polite smiles, repressed rage, and blood-soaked absurdity of a woman slowly coming undone.
She is joined by Last Night in Soho’s Thomasin McKenzie and The White Lotus’s Jason Isaacs, while Ruth Wilson, Amy De Bhrún, Jacobi Jupe, and Evie Templeton round out the cast.
The film is directed by Zachary Wigon, who previously helmed the darkly comic psychological thriller Sanctuary, starring Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbott. The screenplay comes from author Virginia Feito, adapting her own novel of the same name after making a sharp literary debut with Mrs. March.
So yes, we’re dealing with corsets, candlelight, class tension, missing servants, and a governess who may be one polite curtsy away from total chaos. In other words, Victorian Psycho isn’t just a killer title, it’s practically a mission statement.
The film makes its world premiere at Cannes this month, followed by an official theatrical release on September 25th.
🎥 “Miss You, Love You” Trailer: Allison Janney & Andrew Rannells Find an Unexpected Bond in HBO’s Grief-Tinged Odd-Couple Dramedy From Jim Rash — Premieres May 29th on HBO
Anyone who has had the horrible misfortune of experiencing a death in the family knows that kind of loss can bring out both the worst and the best in people. And sometimes, it comes from people you barely know. But when this type of tragedy strikes, anyone willing to step in, offer comfort, and help carry the weight can start to feel like family, even if they arrived as a stranger.
This is where this new HBO Original film Miss You, Love You comes in, as Oscar-winner Allison Janney and Andrew Rannells play a couple of strangers brought uncomfortably together by grief, only to let a little kindness crack open something unexpected.
Janney stars as Diane Patterson, a blunt, grieving widow suddenly faced with the impossible task of planning her husband’s funeral. The only problem? She’s not doing it with her estranged son. Instead, she’s stuck handling the arrangements with Jamie Simms, her son’s assistant, played by Rannells.
That’s already an awkward setup. But as Diane and Jamie stumble through funeral plans, family tensions, and all the messy business that comes with saying goodbye, their strange little partnership begins to lead to something emotionally deeper. As buried secrets surface and long-held resentments come bubbling up, somewhere between the darkly funny circumstances and the emotional wreckage, the two begin forming an unlikely bond as Jamie develops into the surrogate son Diane so desperately needs at that moment.
Janney, who can do sharp, wounded, and hilarious all in the same breath, seems perfectly matched with Rannells, whose gift for anxious charm should make this odd-couple pairing enticing to watch.
The cast also includes the always hilarious Bonnie Hunt, Dead to Me’s Suzy Nakamura, and The Office’s Oscar Nuñez.
Written and directed by comic actor and writer Jim Rash, Miss You, Love You marks his feature directorial debut. Rash, who won an Oscar for co-writing Alexander Payne’s The Descendants, knows a thing or two about blending heartbreak with dry humor. So expect a few tears from both laughter and genuine emotional gut punches.
Miss You, Love You is slated to air Friday, May 29th on HBO and stream on HBO Max.
🎥 “The Fox” Teaser: Jai Courtney Makes a Very Bad Deal With Olivia Colman’s Talking Fox in Dario Russo’s Twisted Fantasy Satire — In Australian Cinemas October
Imagine this: a talking fox movie where Olivia Colman lends her voice and razor-sharp wit to the furry little troublemaker. But before you assume this is some kind of cuddly family comedy, think again. This is a pitch-black Australian fantasy satire, and it’s definitely not something you throw on for the kids. A talking fox may sound adorable, sure, but this one comes with teeth, tricks, and a very wicked agenda.
Written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Dario Russo, best known for co-creating the ’50s spy spoof web series Danger 5 and creating the viral parody short Italian Spiderman, The Fox stars Jai Courtney as Nick, the affable heir to a wealthy rural landowner who discovers that his fiancée, Kori, played by Emily Browning, is cheating on him. Heartbroken and desperate to fix the relationship, Nick stumbles into the sort of fairy-tale bargain that should come with a very large warning label.
One night, he captures a rogue fox, voiced by Olivia Colman, who offers him a deal: spare her life, and she’ll help him save his relationship. The solution? Push Kori into a magic hole that can transform her into the perfect partner.
Naturally, Nick does what any emotionally stable person would absolutely not do. And at first, the new version of Kori seems like everything he wanted. But perfection rarely stays perfect for long, and her strange new quirks soon have Nick wondering whether he solved his problem or created a much weirder one.
The cast also includes Justified’s Damon Herriman, The Boys’ Claudia Doumit, Superman’s Zlatko Burić, and The Lord of the Rings’ Miranda Otto, with veteran actor Sam Neill as the voice of a vulgar magpie.
The Fox seems destined to be one of those weird, out-there breakouts that gets people talking, for better or worse. But for anyone who likes their fantasy comedies twisted, strange, and a little feral, this is definitely one to keep an eye on.
Following its screening at this year’s Sydney Film Festival after premiering at SXSW in March, The Fox is scheduled to open in Australian cinemas in October. As of now, the film doesn’t have an official U.S. release date.
🎥 “Jimmy” Trailer: Riverdale’s KJ Apa Portrays Hollywood Icon Jimmy Stewart as War, Fame, and Trauma Reshape an American Legend — Hitting Theaters November 6th
Few actors have ever carried the image of American decency quite like Jimmy Stewart. But behind that gentle voice, lanky frame, and aw-shucks charm was a man who didn’t just play heroes on screen... he became one when the world demanded it.
In the upcoming biographical drama Jimmy, Riverdale star KJ Apa takes on the daunting task of portraying one of Hollywood’s most beloved leading men during the most defining chapter of his life. Fresh off his Academy Award win for The Philadelphia Story, Stewart walked away from movie stardom and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps as World War II began reshaping the globe.
And this wasn’t some symbolic celebrity enlistment. Stewart flew twenty combat missions over Europe, rose to the rank of colonel, and returned home a very different man. The film follows that emotional whiplash between fame, duty, trauma, and the difficult question of whether he still had a place in Hollywood after everything he had seen.
That answer would come through one role: George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life. What became one of Stewart’s most iconic performances was also, in this telling, the role that helped bring him back to himself.
Directed by Aaron Burns and written by Justin Strawhand, Jimmy also features Kara Killmer, Neal McDonough, Max Casella, Jason Alexander, Christopher McDonald, Sarah Drew, Rob Riggle, and more.
Rather than running through the usual cradle-to-grave biopic checklist, this one appears to focus on the stretch where war reshaped the man and art helped piece him back together.
Jimmy opens exclusively in theaters November 6th.

Built from executive phone calls, candid conversations, notebooks, paintings, photographs, and Kaye’s own restless creative spiral, this documentary revisits the messy saga behind the “Humpty Dumpty” credit dispute, for which he wanted to legally change his name to Humpty Dumpty just to keep his real name off the film. And yes, the story still sounds completely unreal; one that even had legendary actor Marlon Brando laughing, but still backing Kaye up.
