🎥 “Over Your Dead Body” New Trailer: Samara Weaving and Jason Segel Plot Each Other’s Demise in This Twisted Dark Comedy — Arriving in Theaters April 24th
We bet there are a number of people out there who dream about marrying Samara Weaving or Jason Segel since they seem to be some of the most charming actors working in Hollywood today. But their latest film might have those fans second guessing that idea, as it seems marriage comes with a body count and a whole lot of bandages.
In this upcoming darkly comic thriller Over Your Dead Body, the Ready or Not star plays a fiery woman stuck in a deeply unhappy marriage with Segel’s deceptively mild-mannered husband. As they decide to take a prearranged romantic weekend to a remote cabin in hopes of rekindling their relationship, they both discover something shocking and disturbing: they have each secretly planned to kill each other before the weekend is over.
With the revelation comes a tense cabin standoff where the two get locked into a deadly game of one-upmanship as things go from bad to completely off the rails, when a few unexpected guests arrive, turning a private grudge match into an unpredictable disaster.
Directed by Lonely Island comedian and former SNL writer Jorma Taccone (Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, MacGruber), this remake of the Norwegian cult hit Onde Dager (aka The Trip) asks just how far an unhappy married couple can take the whole “till death do us part” thing before it turns into a very real murder plot.
Leaning into sharp tonal swings between violence and absurdity, the script comes from sketch comedy duo/screenwriters Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher (aka BriTANicK), who recently made their feature directorial debut with Hulu’s trippy stoner comedy Pizza Movie.
Joining Weaving and Segel is a supporting cast that includes Juliette Lewis and Paul Guilfoyle, with Timothy Olyphant as a contract killer who finds himself entangled in the couple’s twisted weekend of betrayal and bloodshed.
Over Your Dead Body is coming to theaters April 24th. Witness a marriage dissolution like no other.

🎥 “Mother Mary” New Trailer: Anne Hathaway Transforms into a Mega Pop Star in David Lowery’s Genre-Bending Fever Dream — Opening in Select Theaters April 17th; Expanding Wide April 24th
Anne Hathaway, the pop diva?
The Devil Wears Prada star is getting the chance to tap into her inner diva, starring as a chart-topping icon in the visually striking, genre-blending pop star drama Mother Mary from writer-director David Lowery (The Green Knight, A Ghost Story).
Hathaway, who is already stacking a major year with two highly anticipated summer releases, The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, dives headfirst into full pop icon mode as a Lady Gaga–meets–Taylor Swift hybrid. For the role, she not only had to learn full stage routines, but also teamed up with Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX, who provided the film’s original songs.
Here, Hathaway is “Mother Mary,” a larger-than-life recording artist who abruptly abandons her world tour during a mid-meltdown, only to disappear into rural Germany. There, she reconnects with her estranged former best friend and costume designer, Sam, played by I May Destroy You’s Michaela Coel. What starts as a creative collaboration quickly turns into something far more charged, as old wounds resurface and personal tensions rise when Mary asks Sam to design a custom-made dress; one that could define everything she is and everything she wants to become. Little does she know, the dress itself will take on a life of its own, possibly consuming her in the process.
Part pop music melodrama, part fever dream, writer-director David Lowery might have whipped up something as mesmerizing as it is unhinged. Whether it plays as a bold artist reinvention or a surreal detour, one thing is clear: this isn’t your typical rise-and-fall music story.
Co-starring Hunter Schafer, FKA twigs, Kaia Gerber, Atheena Frizzell, and Jessica Brown Findlay, Mother Mary opens in select theaters April 17th before expanding wide on April 24th.

🎥 “Lee Cronin’s The Mummy” Trailer: A Missing Girl Returns from a 3,000-Year-Old Tomb in This Chilling New Take on the Classic Universal Monster Starring Jack Reynor & Laia Costa — Coming to Theaters April 17th
The mummy is a classic cinematic horror archetype that has been creeping out audiences since the early days of the “talkies.” But what makes it such an enduring theme is how people have continued to be fascinated with death itself. And these resurrected, linen-wrapped monsters seem to reflect not only our fear of our mortality, but what happens if someone could come back from the grave.
Now, enter Irish horror filmmaker Lee Cronin. After proving with Evil Dead Rise that he can bring fresh blood to a franchise, Cronin now takes on one of Universal’s most iconic screen monsters, The Mummy. And it seems he’s taking a sharper, nastier approach, tapping into why the mummy concept was ever frightening to begin with, while also giving it a more modern edge.
Fellow Irishman Jack Reynor (Midsommar) stars as a journalist whose life is upended when his young daughter, who has been missing for eight years and presumed dead, is inexplicably discovered inside a 3,000-year-old sarcophagus. She returns home looking the same age she was when she vanished all those years ago. Pale skin, hollow stares, and a presence that suggests this isn’t exactly the same girl they once knew. Worse yet, whoever... or whatever; this is might not entirely be human.
Spanish actress Laia Costa co-stars as Jack’s wife and the girl’s mother, unable to grapple with what has come back into their lives. Even though they both want to believe it’s really their daughter, they can’t help but notice that something feels deeply off... possibly even a new thirst for human blood. Yikes!
Co-starring May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Verónica Falcón, and produced by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse, James Wan’s Atomic Monster, and New Line Cinema, this new take signals a continued push toward darker reinventions of classic monsters, following the success of The Invisible Man and Wolf Man.
Lee Cronin’s The Mummy opens in theaters April 17th.

🎥 “The Breadwinner” New Trailer: Comic Nate Bargatze Takes on Stay-at-Home Dad Duties in This Father-Out-of-His-Depth Comedy with Mandy Moore — In Theaters March 13th
Stand-up comic Nate Bargatze has been selling out shows for years, becoming one of the most popular and relatable comedians working today. Now he takes his affable stage persona to the big screen as he follows the path of many comedians before him by giving acting a shot.
In the upcoming comedy The Breadwinner, Bargatze makes his feature acting debut as Nate Wilcox, a husband and father whose life gets flipped overnight when his wife Katie (played by This Is Us’s Mandy Moore) lands a game-changing deal on Shark Tank. With her business career taking off and pulling her away from home, Nate is left to manage the household and raise their three daughters on his own... something he is, to put it mildly, not equipped to handle.
Drawing on his own stand-up act as a struggling, ill-prepared parent, the film has Bargatze reexamining the idea of a stay-at-home dad and what it means in today’s world, where the pressure to juggle work and family can throw even the most put-together person off balance.
Directed by Eric Appel, the helmer behind one of the most absurd and wildly entertaining biopics in recent memory, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, and working from a script co-written by Bargatze and Dan Lagana, the film appears to be less about big, outrageous gags and more about the quiet panic of trying to keep everything from falling apart.
Featuring a strong supporting cast that includes Colin Jost, Zach Cherry, Martin Herlihy, and Kate Berlant, with Kumail Nanjiani and Will Forte popping in along the way, The Breadwinner might be a throwback to Mr. Mom, but with a more modern, self-aware spin on parenting and partnership.
The Breadwinner hits theaters March 13th.
