🎥 “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew” Trailer: Greta Gerwig Brings a Little Rock ’n’ Roll Magic to C. S. Lewis’s Fantasy World with Daniel Craig, Emma Mackey, and Carey Mulligan — In IMAX Theaters February 12, 2027, and Streaming on Netflix April 2, 2027
After the massive success of Barbie, filmmaker Greta Gerwig seemingly had Hollywood at her fingertips. She could have taken on just about any project she wanted. And we’re sure more than a few studio executives would have loved to see her jump straight into a Barbie sequel. Financially, it probably would have made perfect sense.
Instead, she turned to something a little more personal: C. S. Lewis’s beloved Narnia books, fantasy adventures that had captured her imagination since childhood. Of course, Hollywood has been down this road before, with an earlier attempt to turn the books into a major film franchise that started strong but eventually lost momentum. So there’s certainly some risk in giving Narnia another shot.
And while Barbie was no small undertaking, it may have been just a warm-up for what could be Gerwig’s most ambitious project yet. If anything, it’s another sign of a filmmaker who has little interest in being boxed into any particular genre, style, or expectation of what she should do next.
Now working under the Netflix banner, Gerwig, at least in theory, should have plenty of creative room to bring her own vision of C. S. Lewis’s fantasy world to the screen. And judging by the recently released first trailer, we’re already getting a taste of her particular spin on Narnia. For starters, there’s Led Zeppelin.
A playful rendition of “Stairway to Heaven” sets the tone for this new Narnia adaptation, bringing a distinctly British classic rock sensibility to Lewis’s fantasy world. Gerwig also seems to be having some fun with the visuals, contrasting the more grounded, period look of London with the colorful, glam rock-inspired fantasy worlds hidden beyond it, occasionally blending the two into something altogether more surreal. We’re sure Gerwig fans will have a field day picking apart all the cinematic and musical influences once it’s all said and done.
The film also features a stellar cast, including Daniel Craig as the eccentric magician Andrew Ketterley, Emma Mackey as the sinister White Witch, Carey Mulligan as Mabel Kirke, and Meryl Streep lending her voice to the mighty lion Aslan. Meanwhile, newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell take on the roles of Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, the two young adventurers at the heart of Narnia’s origin story.
Gerwig’s adaptation has already become something of a talking point among industry insiders and longtime Narnia fans alike. On one side, there have been reports of behind-the-scenes tensions with Netflix over the film’s distribution plans. On the other, fans have been debating Gerwig’s creative and artistic choices. Whatever the case, people are talking. And at a time when movies seem to come and go in the blink of an eye, we’d say keeping the conversation going is a good thing.
Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew has been positioned as the first installment in Netflix’s ambitious new adaptation of C. S. Lewis’s beloved fantasy series, with Gerwig laying the groundwork for what the streamer undoubtedly hopes will become its next major film franchise. The film is also getting a rare theatrical release in IMAX before making its way to Netflix. It’s set to open in theaters on February 12, 2027, followed by its Netflix debut on April 2, 2027, giving audiences nearly two months between releases.
Rumor has it, however, that Gerwig has been pushing for a more substantial theatrical rollout, though Netflix still appears to be weighing its options. After all, traditional theatrical distribution is something the streaming giant has long resisted, even if it has slowly begun to warm up to the idea. Perhaps Gerwig will need a little magic of her own to break that spell.
Greta Gerwig Offers Her Trailer Breakdowns:

“The Beekeeper 2” Trailer: Jason Statham Is Back to Break More Bones, Because Apparently There Are Still Some Left, in This Action Sequel Directed by Timo Tjahjanto — Arriving In Theaters January 15th
Now, we know what you’re thinking: Didn’t they already make The Beekeeper 2?
Well, no. You’re probably just confusing it with the five other Jason Statham action movies he’s made since the first one. And really, who could blame you? At this point, they’re all starting to blur together into one big, fist-pounding, arm-breaking fever dream. Same scowling Statham. Same bone-crunching beatdowns. Hell, even the same outfit: a light brown workman’s jacket, jeans, and work boots.
But look, Statham knows which side his bread is buttered on. Why mess with a winning formula? Just keep churning out those bone-crunching action flicks, give audiences exactly what they came for, and call it a day. And apparently, we’re more than happy to keep showing up. Which brings us to The Beekeeper 2, arriving in theaters this January.
For those who need a refresher, the original Beekeeper hit theaters in 2024, with Statham playing Adam Clay, a former government assassin turned beekeeper who was perfectly content living off the grid and minding his own business. That is, until a close friend fell victim to a phishing scam, sending Clay on a one-man mission to make everyone responsible regret their life choices. What began as a personal vendetta quickly snowballed into a full-blown conspiracy involving the U.S. president and her corrupt son. Naturally, things ended with a massive shootout at the president’s seaside mansion, where some ugly truths came spilling out, along with enough bullets to leave a considerable body count.
Now Clay is back. Only this time, he’s a wanted man, still carrying out his vendetta against those who wronged him. And judging by the looks of things, he’s got plenty more bones to break.
This time around, cult Indonesian action director Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes for Us, Nobody 2) takes the reins, stepping in for David Ayer, who directed the first film. Jeremy Irons also returns as Clay’s former CIA handler, Wallace Westwyld, alongside Emmy Raver-Lampman and Bobby Naderi, reprising their roles as FBI agents Verona Parker and Matt Wiley. Mission: Impossible and Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff joins the cast, alongside fellow newcomers Yara Shahidi and Adam Copeland.
The Beekeeper 2 hits theaters January 15, 2027. Just imagine what the popcorn bucket for this one would look like.

🎥 “Don Bluth: Somewhere Out There” Trailer: New Documentary Explores the Life and Career of the Legendary Animator Who Walked Away From Disney to Build a Rival Animation Studio — Arriving November 20th on VOD/Digital Platforms
Ask any hardcore animation fan to list their favorite animators of all time, and Don Bluth will likely rank near the top. Every generation of trailblazing animators has its share of visionaries and radicals. Bluth might just fall into both categories.
Considered one of Disney’s most talented rising animators in the 1970s, Bluth did the unthinkable: he walked away from a stable job at the Mouse House to start his own studio and take on the animation giant in a toe-to-toe battle for the future of traditional animation. What followed was an incredible string of groundbreaking animated films that would become childhood favorites for many, including The Secret of NIMH, An American Tail, The Land Before Time, All Dogs Go to Heaven, and Anastasia.
His work rivaled what Disney was producing at the time, proving that an independent animation studio could thrive outside the Mouse House’s stranglehold on the industry. Sadly, Bluth and his studio couldn’t maintain that momentum forever. Financial troubles, box-office disappointments, and a rapidly changing animation industry eventually took their toll. But for one memorable stretch, Bluth was the animator who took on Disney in a face-off and made the Mouse House blink first. And for that, he’s earned his place in animation history as one of the greats. Plus, he also helped create the groundbreaking ’80s arcade game Dragon’s Lair, and in our book, that alone makes him a freakin’ legend.
In Don Bluth: Somewhere Out There, directors Dave LaMattina and Chad Walker revisit Bluth’s extraordinary career through never-before-seen archival footage and personal interviews. This new indie documentary explores the creative triumphs, financial struggles, and personal sacrifices that came with stepping out of Disney’s shadow and trying to build an animation empire of his own. Turns out, bringing animated dreams to life isn’t always a fairy tale. But damn it, it’s a ride worth taking.
Don Bluth: Somewhere Out There is due to arrive on VOD and Digital platforms on November 20th.

🎥 “Being Heumann” Trailer: Ruth Madeley Leads a Historic Fight for Disability Rights in Siân Heder’s 1970s Protest Drama Co-Starring Mark Ruffalo — In Select Theaters November 6th, Streaming on Apple TV November 13th
“Stick it to the Man!” “Power to the People!” Protest slogans like these get to the heart of a familiar struggle: how do you bring about change when those in power refuse to budge, no matter how loudly people demand to be heard? But what often gets overlooked is what happens when people from different backgrounds, each facing their own hardships and struggles, come together for a common cause. Suddenly, those in charge have a much harder time ignoring them.
That’s what makes this true-life 1970s protest drama, Being Heumann, so interesting. It’s a simple reminder of how people who have spent years being ignored can become a powerful force when they stand together in solidarity. How the many can outweigh the few, even when those few seem to hold all the power.
From Siân Heder, the filmmaker behind the Oscar-winning drama CODA, comes another heartfelt story about people fighting to be heard and refusing to let the world overlook them. And taking a similar approach to her previous film, Heder has filled much of her cast with disabled actors, bringing an added sense of authenticity to the project.
Featuring Ruth Madeley as legendary disability rights activist Judy Heumann, Being Heumann dramatizes the historic 1977 Section 504 sit-in. For 26 days, hundreds of protesters occupied a federal building in San Francisco, demanding that the government finally enforce civil rights protections that had long been promised to disabled Americans.
At the center of the nationwide protests was Heumann, a tenacious wheelchair-using polio survivor who devoted her life to fighting for the rights of people with disabilities. While she would eventually become known as the “Mother of the Disability Rights Movement,” one of her defining achievements was helping lead this historic sit-in. She also helped bring together different groups within the 1970s civil rights movement, building an extraordinary coalition of people willing to stand up (or sit up) for one another. It showed just how much marginalized communities could accomplish by joining forces.
Mark Ruffalo co-stars as Joseph Califano, the U.S. Secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare under President Jimmy Carter. His delay in signing disability rights regulations put him directly at odds with the protesters, making him one of the central targets of their demands.
Madeley and Ruffalo are joined by Dylan O’Brien, Madeline Delp, Rob Delaney, Daniel Durant, Antwan Tolliver, and Ray Fisher. Heder co-wrote the screenplay with Rebekah Taussig, adapting Heumann’s memoir Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist, co-written with Kristen Joiner.
Heumann’s fight for disability rights continued long after 1977. In 2010, President Barack Obama appointed her Special Advisor for International Disability Rights at the U.S. State Department, further cementing her reputation as one of the leading voices in the disability rights movement. She was also featured in the acclaimed Netflix documentary Crip Camp (which we highly recommend) that explored the early days of the disability rights movement and Heumann’s contributions to it. Over the years, documentaries and specials have revisited the historic sit-in, including one particularly funny Drunk History episode (which we also highly recommend).
Being Heumann is set to open in select theaters on November 6th, before making its streaming debut on Apple TV on November 13th.

🎥 “The Mosquito Bowl” Trailer: Nicholas Galitzine and Bill Skarsgård Star as College Football Players Turned U.S. Marines in Peter Berg’s WWII Drama Based on a Bestselling Book by ‘Friday Night Lights’ Author Buzz Bissinger — In Select Theaters October 30th and on Netflix November 25th
Filmmaker Peter Berg knows a thing or two about football. After all, he adapted Buzz Bissinger’s bestselling book Friday Night Lights into a critically acclaimed 2004 film before bringing the story to television with an equally acclaimed series.
Now he’s heading back to the gridiron with another football drama based on a true story. Only this time, there are a lot more explosions and war-torn battlefields involved. And no, we’re not speaking metaphorically here. We’re talking about a real-life war, with the action unfolding both on and off the football field.
Netflix’s upcoming World War II drama The Mosquito Bowl has Berg telling the largely untold story of a football game played by U.S. Marines on Guadalcanal ahead of the brutal invasion of Okinawa in 1945.
Boasting a strong ensemble cast led by Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis, the film is part war drama, part sports drama, and part tribute to the young soldiers whose promising futures were cut short far too soon.
Once again drawing from a bestselling book by Bissinger, this time adapted for the screen by The Revenant scribe Mark L. Smith alongside Berg, the film centers on a group of star college football players (Galitzine, Skarsgård, Nicholson, and Francis) who volunteer for military service during World War II and find themselves fighting together in the Pacific.
Amid the bloodshed and harsh realities of war, these men find a brief escape from combat through a football scrimmage meant to lift morale and remind them of the lives they left behind. But with the invasion of Okinawa fast approaching, the game offers one last taste of normalcy for these young men who know their next battle could very well be their last.
The game itself would come to be known as “The Mosquito Bowl,” a little-known chapter of World War II history that might have remained forgotten if not for Bissinger’s book.
The Mosquito Bowl is slated to open in select theaters on October 30th before arriving on Netflix on November 25th.

🎥 “Josephine” New Trailer: Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan Struggle to Help Their Young Daughter Cope After Witnessing a Brutal Crime in Sundance Award-Winning Psychological Drama from Writer-Director Beth de Araújo — In Select Theaters November 20th, Expanding December 4th
For a parent, there’s no greater fear than being unable to protect their child. But what happens when that child witnesses something traumatic firsthand? Can parents still shield them from unforeseeable danger, or must they face the painful truth that some things are simply beyond their control? Those questions are at the heart of this psychological drama, where a single act of violence shatters a young girl’s sense of safety and leaves her parents struggling with their own fears and feelings of helplessness. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the film stars Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan as the parents of eight-year-old Josephine (newcomer Mason Reeves), who witnesses a brutal crime in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. The experience leaves her frightened, angry, and struggling to make sense of what she saw. But as Josephine’s behavior becomes increasingly unpredictable, her parents find themselves at an emotional crossroads, unsure how to help their daughter while wrestling with their own fears and difficult questions about justice. Sometimes, the hardest part isn’t facing what happened, but finding a way to move forward without letting the trauma take over your life.
🎥 “A Long Winter” Trailer: Filmmaker Andrew Haigh Returns with Another Heartbreaking, Awards-Worthy Drama Starring Fred Hechinger, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Caitríona Balfe — In Theaters January 22nd
When we look back at the 1950s, we tend to see everything through rose-colored glasses. Life seemed simpler, slower, and a whole lot less complicated. But appearances can be deceiving. Look a little closer, and you’ll find plenty of cracks and sadness hiding behind those seemingly picture-perfect families. Acclaimed filmmaker Andrew Haigh, known for 45 Years and All of Us Strangers, explores that quiet heartbreak in his latest drama, featuring Fred Hechinger, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Caitríona Balfe, Kit Connor, and D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai. Set in the Rocky Mountains during the early 1950s, the story follows a young man (Hechinger) whose family is already struggling with his brother’s absence during the Korean War. When his unhappy mother (Balfe) suddenly disappears into a snowstorm, prompting an extensive search, he and his father (Moss-Bachrach) must confront the painful truths tearing their family apart. Based on Colm Tóibín’s short story, this slow-burning, wintry drama explores hidden desires, depression, and everything left unsaid. Judging by the buzz, it certainly looks like another awards contender from Andrew Haigh, and it could deliver one hell of an emotional wallop.
🎥 “River” Trailer: Jane Levy and Jessica Rothe Are Hunted by a Mysterious Riverbank Killer in Blumhouse’s New Slasher Thriller — In Theaters January 15th
A nice dip in the river might sound like a refreshing idea, but in this new Blumhouse horror film, it’s anything but. Jane Levy (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) and Jessica Rothe (the Happy Death Day films) star as two estranged sisters who reunite with their younger brother (Max Mattern) in their rural hometown following their father’s death. Hoping to honor his final wishes, the three set out to scatter his ashes along his favorite riverbed, only to find themselves stranded when their boat breaks down. Things only get worse when a mysterious, ominous figure suddenly appears on the opposite riverbank, watching their every move. And he doesn’t seem too happy about having people nearby. After generating considerable buzz at this year’s TIFF, where Universal Pictures, Blumhouse, and Atomic Monster acquired the film in a reported $10 million-plus deal, the horror thriller marks the feature-film debut of writer-director Joshua Giuliano. And with horror enjoying another strong year, this one looks ready to keep that momentum going, preferably with an intense breaststroke.
🎥 “Cameron Winter at Carnegie Hall” Trailer: Filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson Takes a Break from Oscar-Winning Dramas to Capture Geese Frontman Cameron Winter Live at Carnegie Hall — 35mm Theatrical Tour Begins November 20th
Sure, filmmaker Paul Thomas Anderson is known for making serious, Oscar-winning films. But hey, he’s like anyone else. Sometimes he just wants to kick back and enjoy a performance or two at Carnegie Hall. And sometimes he brings a camera crew along for the ride. Proving that PTA is the kind of filmmaker who does whatever he damn well pleases, he follows up One Battle After Another with something completely different: a concert film featuring Geese frontman Cameron Winter performing solo at Carnegie Hall. Filmed in December 2025, the documentary captures Winter at the piano after months of touring with his band, trading sold-out rock shows for an intimate night of music. Shot on 16mm and 35mm film (obviously), this reaffirms PTA’s passion for music, as he’s been known to direct a few music videos on the side. This time, he takes that passion a step further, turning a single night at Carnegie Hall into a full-blown concert film.

We already got an Anna Nicole Smith movie about her doctor earlier this month, and now here comes another one, this time focusing on the final hours of her life. Which raises the question: Is Hollywood genuinely interested in understanding the tragedy behind the celebrity, or is this just another case of morbid curiosity dressed up as a biopic? Hmm. Your guess is as good as ours. Here, Dutch actress Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) takes on the role of the troubled model and reality TV star in this biographical drama chronicling the hours leading up to her tragic death in 2007. Holly Hunter plays her therapist, while Mark Duplass portrays Howard K. Stern, Smith’s longtime companion and attorney. Turns out Cinderella’s wicked stepsisters might not be so wicked after all. Who knew? Well, that’s the idea behind this animated fairy tale comedy, which flips the classic story on its head and gives those notoriously nasty stepsisters a chance to tell their side of things. Comedian Ali Wong (Beef) voices Lilith, who gets her hands on the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and promptly makes a royal mess of everything. First, she accidentally turns her sister Margot (Everything Everywhere All at Once’s Stephanie Hsu) into a frog. Then, to make matters worse, she leaves the entire kingdom at the mercy of a power-hungry villain. Oops. Now Lilith has no choice but to team up with Cinderella (The Housemaid’s Amanda Seyfried) to undo the damage and hopefully turn her sister back into something a little less... amphibious. With Bette Midler, Daniel Radcliffe, and Peter Dinklage also lending their voices, this Netflix adventure gives the familiar Cinderella story a wildly different spin. Apparently, being wicked is all a matter of perspective.

🎥 “The Disciple: A Wu-Tang Fable” Trailer: How Lifelong Wu-Tang Clan Superfan/Producer Cilvaringz Helped Create One of Hip-Hop’s Most Controversial Albums in This New Wu-Tang Documentary — Streaming Now, October 16th on Netflix
This is really a story about two things: how the legendary Wu-Tang Clan came to create one of their most controversial albums, and how a lifelong superfan worked his way into the group’s inner circle to help make it happen. Oscar-winning documentary producer Joanna Natasegara (The White Helmets) makes her feature directorial debut with this fascinating look at one of hip-hop’s most unusual recording projects: Wu-Tang Clan’s Once Upon a Time in Shaolin. Produced as a single physical copy, packaged in an ornate silver box, and eventually sold at auction for millions of dollars, the album raised a few questions. Was it a display of sheer hubris, a clever promotional stunt, or a genuine act of artistic expression? But perhaps the better question is: how did the whole thing even begin? Well, that story starts with Dutch-Moroccan hip-hop producer Tarik Azzougarh, better known as Cilvaringz. A lifelong Wu-Tang superfan, Cilvaringz gradually worked his way into the music industry and eventually into the group’s inner circle. When he finally got the opportunity to collaborate with his musical heroes, he helped spearhead a project that would become one of the most ambitious and controversial chapters in Wu-Tang Clan’s history.

Here’s a hot take: Roger Moore was a badass James Bond. Sure, he wasn’t as athletic as some of the other Bonds, and his fighting skills barely went beyond a karate chop or two. But what he lacked in physical prowess, he more than made up for with that effortless swagger, devilish charm, and a raised eyebrow that could disarm just about anyone. But long before he slipped into Bond’s tuxedo, Moore had already made a name for himself playing another suave, trouble-seeking gentleman: Simon Templar, better known as The Saint. And now, two of his big-screen adventures are finally making their Blu-ray debut. Originally pieced together from episodes of the hit British TV series, The Fiction-Makers (1968) and Vendetta for the Saint (1969) find Moore’s debonair adventurer dealing with criminals who bring a novelist’s wildest schemes to life, before heading off to Italy to tangle with the Mafia. Both films have been newly restored from their original negatives for Imprint Television’s limited-edition three-disc collection, which also throws in the 2025 documentary My Life as Roger Moore and a 44-page hardcover booklet. Not a bad little treat for fans of vintage British adventure and that unmistakable Roger Moore charisma.
