📺 “The Last Frontier” Trailer: Jason Clarke Hunts Down Dangerous Escaped Convicts in Apple’s New Alaskan Wilderness Thriller Series — Premiering October 10th on Apple TV+
Alaska is known for being nicknamed “The Last Frontier.” But the 49th state is also known for its vast wilderness, unforgiving terrain, and the kind of isolation where anyone can easily get lost—or disappear if they choose to hide. So, if a plane filled with convicts happens to crash-land in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness, the question isn’t just who survives—it’s how to bring these cons back into custody when the wild is on their side and the law is miles away.
In the upcoming thriller series The Last Frontier, Jason Clarke (from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and HBO's Winning Time) stars as Frank Remnick, the lone U.S. marshal who finds himself battling both the elements and a gang of escaped convicts after their prison transport plane crashes in the Alaskan wild. While tasked with keeping order in a remote town where trouble usually comes in the form of harsh winters and long nights, Remnick scrambles to protect the community when it quickly becomes clear the crash wasn’t just bad luck—it was a setup for something much bigger, and far deadlier.
The series boasts a stacked supporting cast, including Dominic Cooper, Haley Bennett, Simone Kessell, Johnny Knoxville, Clifton Collins Jr., Dallas Goldtooth, and Tait Blum, with Alfre Woodard adding extra firepower to the ensemble.
Behind the camera, stuntman-turned-action director Sam Hargrave (Extraction) helms episodes, bringing his knack for visceral, bone-crunching action, while creators John Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio steer the story into tense, conspiratorial territory.
From the looks of it, The Last Frontier aims to deliver a tense survival drama mixed with hard-edged action and just enough paranoia to keep you second-guessing who’s pulling the strings. The wilderness is unforgiving, the convicts are ruthless, and the marshal might be the only thing standing between law and chaos.
The Last Frontier is due to premiere Friday, October 10th exclusively on Apple TV+.
📺 “Monster: The Ed Gein Story” Trailer: Charlie Hunnam Transforms into Horror’s Real-Life Boogeyman in Third Installment of Ryan Murphy’s Hit True-Crime Anthology Series — Premiering October 3rd on Netflix
For seven seasons of FX’s Sons of Anarchy, Charlie Hunnam proved you can play a morally questionable anti-hero capable of some truly heinous things on screen—yet still have the audience rooting for his character Jax Teller every step of the way. Well, for his latest TV project, Hunnam will be pushing that same kind of intensity into new territory, taking on a role that just might be one of the most reprehensible men to ever live in history. And as much as we loved Hunnam in Sons of Anarchy, this could be the performance that redefines him entirely. Pretty boy, no more—Hunnam taps into the monster within. After all, he plays the real-life serial killer who inspired such classic horror villains as Norman Bates, Leatherface, and Buffalo Bill. As far as serial killers go, Ed Gein may be the most terrifying of them all.
In Monster: The Ed Gein Story, the third installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s hit Netflix Monster anthology series, Hunnam steps into the role of Ed Gein, portraying the quiet recluse whose devotion to his domineering mother (played by Laurie Metcalf) and spiraling psychosis led to his gruesome crimes. The series doesn’t just recount Gein’s murders—it explores how his legacy bled into pop culture, reshaping the DNA of horror cinema itself.
Known as the “Mad Butcher of Plainfield,” Gein wasn’t content with murder. He robbed graves, mutilated corpses, and turned human remains into household items. When police finally entered his decaying Wisconsin farmhouse in 1957, they uncovered an unimaginable nightmare: furniture made from bones, bowls carved from skulls, and, most chilling of all, a body suit crafted from human skin alongside multiple masks made from the faces of his victims. It was the stuff of legend—and the foundation of modern horror.
Tom Hollander appears in the series as filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, with Olivia Williams as his wife Alma Reville, while Will Brill portrays Tobe Hooper, director of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Their inclusion suggests the limited series will trace how Gein’s crimes directly inspired some of the genre’s most infamous films.
Directed by Max Winkler and written by Brennan, the show also features Suzanna Son, Danielle Campbell, Addison Rae, Lesley Manville, Robin Weigert, Vicky Krieps, and more in an ensemble steeped in dread.
Monster: The Ed Gein Story is slated to premiere Friday, October 3rd, only on Netflix—which gives audiences a whole month to binge before Halloween.
📺 “The Diplomat: Season 3” Trailer: Keri Russell Faces Betrayal, Backroom Power Plays, and Allison Janney as America’s New President — Premiering October 16th on Netflix.
Anyone who’s been watching two seasons of Netflix’s highly addictive political thriller The Diplomat can tell you that actress Keri Russell (The Americans, Felicity) might be delivering some of the best work of her career. There’s something so exciting about watching a character who’s unbelievably qualified at her job, yet has just enough know-how to temper her ambition rather than flaunt it.
Keri Russell’s U.S. Ambassador Kate Wyler just might be the perfect government operator—sharp, strategic, and savvy enough to navigate both international crises and the political minefields at home. The only problem is, she’s surrounded by overly zealous colleagues and power players whose egos often threaten to derail the very diplomacy she’s trying to preserve. The biggest offender might be her own estranged husband, Hal (expertly played by Rufus Sewell), whose charm and cunning are as dangerous as they are irresistible. They could be the ultimate power couple—if it wasn’t for the fact that Hal’s ambition keeps colliding with Kate’s integrity.
Well, with Season 3 on the horizon, Russell’s Kate Wyler will find herself dealing with more than just international crises—she’ll be navigating the fallout of personal betrayals, political landmines, and the kind of high-stakes choices that could shatter alliances both at home and abroad. And it’s all because Vice President Grace Penn (played by the always-wonderful Allison Janney) is a “terribly flawed woman”—and, worse yet, she’s just become the interim President of the United States after her predecessor’s unexpected fatal heart attack.
It’s a twist made even more sinister by the fact that Penn herself orchestrated the terrorist plot that nearly dragged the U.K. into an unjust war with Russia. So now, Kate stands as the only one capable of stopping the new President from igniting a catastrophic global conflict with some of the country’s greatest allies.
Bradley Whitford joins the cast of this new season as Allison Janney’s husband, Todd Penn. So, yes—it’s a mini West Wing reunion, only this White House is more cutthroat, conspiratorial, and teetering on the edge of collapse. But that doesn’t stop Todd from standing at Grace’s side as she consolidates power inside the Oval Office. Season 3 is shaping up to be the show’s most combustible yet.
Created by West Wing alum Debora Cahn, Season 3 of The Diplomat is scheduled to premiere Thursday, October 16th, only on Netflix.
📺 “The Chair Company” Trailer: Tim Robinson Turns Office Politics into Paranoia in New Dark Workplace Comedy Series with Lake Bell — Premiering October 12th on HBO MAX
Comedian Tim Robinson had such an interesting path to get himself here. He was one of the rare SNL comedians who went from being a featured performer to becoming a staff writer before leaving the show in a short time, without even leaving a noticeable impression. He could have been one of many SNL comics who never quite found their footing after a stint on the show. But slowly and surely, Robinson carved out cult status with his hilariously absurd sketch series Comedy Central’s Detroiters and Netflix’s I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson. He has since become widely recognized for his endlessly meme-able sketch clips that flood social media feeds.
In a lot of ways, Robinson has become a symbol of millennial humor—absurd, anxious, self-aware, and always teetering between total meltdown and deadpan disorder. Now one could say Robinson represents the voice of a generation that finds comedy in the chaos, laughing through the awkwardness of modern life. It’s kinda his whole brand, and he has cornered the market on turning everyday awkwardness into full-blown existential crises that are as hilarious as they are painfully relatable.
Now, Tim Robinson is back with a brand-new dose of workplace absurdity, and this time he’s taking aim at the everyday grind—where cubicle politics, pointless meetings, and soul-crushing small talk spiral into office turmoil only he could dream up. Working for “the man” has never looked so hilariously unhinged.
In The Chair Company, a new dark comedy series Robinson co-created with longtime collaborator Zach Kanin, Robinson stars as William Ronald Trosper, an office drone whose life spirals into paranoia after a humiliating workplace incident. What begins as embarrassment quickly unravels into something much stranger, as William stumbles onto what may—or may not—be a sprawling conspiracy lurking behind the walls of his company. Is it corporate corruption, shadowy forces, or just his own fractured mind playing tricks on him? Either way, it’s the kind of wild setup perfectly tailored to Robinson’s off-kilter comedy.
The series reunites Robinson and Kanin, whose collaborations stretch back to their Saturday Night Live days and led to cult favorites like Detroiters and the Emmy-winning sketch sensation I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson. Executive producing alongside them are Adam McKay and Andrew DeYoung, with DeYoung also directing the first episode after previously working with Robinson on the 2024 dark comedy Friendship.
Joining Robinson is a stacked cast featuring Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Will Price, Joseph Tudisco, and Lou Diamond Phillips, all set to play into the show’s mix of awkward comedy and creeping unease.
The Chair Company promises to take office politics to deranged new heights when it premieres Sunday, October 12th on HBO Max.
