📺 “The Hawk” Teaser Trailer: Will Ferrell Plays a Washed-Up Golf Legend Swinging for One Last Comeback in Netflix’s New Golfing Comedy Series with Molly Shannon, Jimmy Tatro, Fortune Feimster & Luke Wilson — Premiering Thurs, July 16th on Netflix
Will Ferrell has mocked the world of NASCAR, figure skating, youth soccer, basketball, and just about every other sport that lets grown men take themselves way too seriously. So, honestly, it was only a matter of time before he grabbed a golf club and took a big, ridiculous swing at the PGA Tour. And here we are. Meet Ferrell’s latest creation: a loud-mouthed, egomaniacal golf pro with absolutely zero self-awareness who goes by the name of... The Hawk!
In this upcoming Netflix comedy series, Ferrell stars as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a once-dominant golf legend whose glory days are sitting somewhere back in 2004, right next to his better knees, sharper swing, and probably a few questionable endorsement deals. Lonnie was once the number one golfer in the world. Now, he’s stuck on the back nine of his career, trying to convince everyone around him that he still has enough magic left to mount one last comeback. His body says retire. His pride, on the other hand, says the opposite.
But The Hawk’s path to golfing glory becomes a whole lot messier when he faces his number one rival... who not only happens to be golf’s new golden boy but also his very own son, Lance (played by Jimmy Tatro). Now this twisted father-son dynamic should give Ferrell plenty of room to do what he does best: playing a man whose confidence is somehow both completely delusional and yet also weirdly inspiring.
With fellow SNL alum Molly Shannon as The Hawk’s fuming ex-wife, along with comedian Fortune Feimster as his loyal caddy, joined by Luke Wilson, David Hornsby, Katelyn Tarver, and Chris Parnell, this cast seems to suggest that it won’t just be about golf, but about all the messy personalities orbiting a fallen sports icon looking for one last shot at greatness.
Created by Ferrell with a producing team that includes filmmakers Rian Johnson and David Gordon Green, the series looks like another entry in Ferrell’s long-running mission to turn every corner of the sports world into his own playground of man-child hijinks and buffoonery.
The Hawk premieres Thursday, July 16th on Netflix.
📺 “East of Eden” Teaser Trailer: Florence Pugh, Mike Faist & Christopher Abbott Star in Zoe Kazan’s Netflix Miniseries Adaptation of John Steinbeck’s Classic American Saga — Coming Fall 2026
Some stories don’t just follow a family. They dig through generations of hurt, ambition, betrayal, and questionable decisions until the whole thing starts to feel so expansive it practically demands multiple episodes to unpack.
That’s the territory Netflix is stepping into with East of Eden, a new seven-episode miniseries adapted from John Steinbeck’s 1952 literary classic that tells the story of the Trask family, whose lives become tangled in love, jealousy, moral conflict, and the darker side of the California dream. And in this iteration, the story shifts its attention toward one of Steinbeck’s most unforgettable figures: Cathy Ames, played here by Florence Pugh.
The limited series is written and executive produced by actress-writer Zoe Kazan, whose acting credits include HBO’s The Plot Against America and The Big Sick, and who also wrote and starred in the fantasy-laced rom-com Ruby Sparks. Kazan also brings an interesting bit of family history to the project, since her grandfather, legendary filmmaker Elia Kazan, famously adapted Steinbeck’s novel into the James Dean classic.
This new interpretation, however, follows Florence Pugh’s Cathy as her life becomes tangled with generations of men in the Trask family, including Adam Trask (played by The Testament of Ann Lee’s Christopher Abbott) and Charles Trask (played by Challengers’ Mike Faist). Across decades, their choices ripple through family history, turning the American dream into something much darker, stranger, and harder to escape.
The series spans from the shadow of the American Civil War to the dawn of World War I, tracing the lives of Cathy and the Trasks as they cross paths with a wide circle of characters trying to survive a rapidly changing America. Among them are Samuel Hamilton, played by Ciarán Hinds, an Irish immigrant who builds a life in California; Lee, played by Hoon Lee, a deeply intelligent Chinese American caretaker; and Faye, played by Martha Plimpton, a brothel owner whose generosity may come at a dangerous cost.
The cast also includes Joseph Zada as Caleb “Cal” Trask, Cathy and Adam’s son and Aron’s fraternal twin brother; Joe Anders as Aron Trask; and Tracy Letts as Cyrus Trask, Charles and Adam’s stern war veteran father.
Acclaimed Lion filmmaker Garth Davis directs the first four episodes, while Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, known for The Mustang, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, and The Act, directs episodes five through seven.
Veteran screenwriter-producer Jeb Stuart, whose credits include The Fugitive, Die Hard, and Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla, serves as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Kazan.
And while the 1955 James Dean film only covered the final part of Steinbeck’s novel, this new Netflix adaptation aims to tell the whole story, putting Pugh’s Cathy Ames at the center of its sprawling tale of family, fate, and moral corruption.
East of Eden is coming to Netflix in Fall 2026.
📺 “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” Teaser Trailer: Kevin Sussman’s Big Bang Theory Fan Favorite Breaks Reality in HBO Max’s New Multiverse Comedy Series with Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus & John Ross Bowie — Debuting Thurs, July 23rd on HBO Max
Well, if you haven’t noticed, turning a franchise into its own multiverse is all the rage these days. But no one said comic book heroes are the only ones who get to deal with alternate timelines and reality-bending mayhem. ‘Cuz sometimes a couple of comic book geeks can get sucked into the madness as well. With that in mind, prepare to witness a Big Bang Theory spinoff like no other; one where the fate of the universe falls into the hands of one nerdy comic book store owner... Stuart Bloom.
In this new HBO Max original comedy series Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, Kevin Sussman returns as Stuart Bloom, the comic book store owner and longtime sad-sack survivor of social awkwardness and whatever chaos the Pasadena nerd circle dragged through his front door. This time, however, Stuart’s problems are a little bigger than slow book sales and uncomfortable small talk.
After breaking a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, Stuart accidentally tears reality wide open, triggering a full-blown multiverse... Armageddon. So now it’s up to Stuart to fix the universe he helped break. Which, let’s be honest, does not exactly inspire a whole lot of confidence. The universe just might be cooked.
Well, thankfully, he’s not doing it alone. Joining him on this reality-saving quest are his girlfriend Denise, played by Lauren Lapkus, and his geologist friend Bert, played by Brian Posehn. Lispy quantum physicist Barry Kripke (John Ross Bowie) is also here, remaining exactly the kind of brilliant, aggravating person you’d both need and deeply regret having to deal with. But because this is the multiverse, an alternate Barry has somehow turned into a controlling post-apocalyptic tyrant ruling over all of South Pasadena... naturally.
Along the way, Stuart and his crew will encounter alternate-universe versions of familiar characters from The Big Bang Theory, giving the series plenty of room to play with fan-favorite faces, weird timelines, and sitcom-style hijinks on a much larger cosmic scale.
Created, written, and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn, and Bill Prady, the ten-episode series comes from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Kyle Newacheck also executive produces and directs multiple episodes, which should help give the show some extra comic momentum as Stuart stumbles through one disaster after another.
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe debuts Thursday, July 23rd on HBO Max.

📺 “The Five Star Weekend” Trailer: Jennifer Garner Invites Old Friends for an Emotional Weekend in Peacock’s Nantucket-Set Dramedy with Chloë Sevigny, Regina Hall, Gemma Chan & D’Arcy Carden — Premiering Thurs, July 9th on Peacock
When you’re facing a personal crisis, it’s best to invite a few friends over for some emotional support. But when you’re throwing a weekend get-together with several friends from different stages of your life, emotional support isn’t the only thing you’re asking for... you’re also inviting some serious self-reflection.
That’s the emotional setup at the core of Jennifer Garner’s new Peacock original series, where she plays a woman turning to her lifelong friends during one of the most vulnerable moments of her life. What starts as a few days of comfort and support quickly turns into something much more emotional, as friendships are tested to levels they may not be ready for.
Based on Elin Hilderbrand’s bestselling novel, The Five Star Weekend brings Garner to the New England coast as Hollis Shaw, a beloved food blogger, famed cook, and bestselling author whose life appears almost perfect from the outside. But after the devastating loss of her husband (Josh Hamilton), that polished image begins to crack. Her daughter pulls away, and her carefully curated world starts to feel on the verge of collapse.
So begins a weekend away at her comfy beachfront Nantucket estate, where she invites four lifelong friends from four different stages of her life. The idea is to gather for some much-needed five-star treatment, as well as personal healing and self-reflection, as Garner’s Hollis finds herself dealing with grief, loneliness, and the uncomfortable realization that a picture-perfect life can still leave you feeling completely lost.
Among those playing Garner’s closest friends in this heartfelt dramedy are Chloë Sevigny as Tatum McKenzie, Regina Hall as Dru-Ann Jones, Gemma Chan as Gigi Ling, and D’Arcy Carden as Brooke Kirtley.
Executive produced by Bekah Brunstetter, whose producing and writing credits include This Is Us, Switched at Birth, and Maid, the limited series also co-stars Harlow Jane as Hollis’s daughter, and Timothy Olyphant as Jack, Hollis’s former teenage boyfriend who just so happens to come back into her life at this moment of emotional free fall.
Rounding out the cast are Caroline Shaw, David Denman, Rob Huebel, and the always lovely Judy Greer, reuniting with Jennifer Garner after the two starred together in 13 Going on 30.
The Five Star Weekend is slated to premiere Thursday, July 9th on Peacock.
