“King of the Hill: Season 14” Father’s Day Promo: Mike Judge’s Hank Hill Trades Hugs for Handshakes in Upcoming Revival — Premiering August 4th on Hulu and Disney+
This just in! Hulu has dropped a surprise for Father’s Day: it’s our first look at everyone’s favorite cartoon blue-collar dad from Arlen, Texas. Yep, Hank Hill is back! And he’s here to give America a big ol’... handshake. Wait, were you expecting a hug?
Well, now with Bobby all grown up, fatherly advice from Hank is going to be a little different in this upcoming revival of Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ beloved animated sitcom King of the Hill, which returns with its 14th season nearly 15 years after the show last aired. These new episodes (10 in all) will reflect the passage of time, as Hank (again voiced by Judge), his wife Peggy (a returning Kathy Najimy), and their son Bobby (Pamela Adlon also back) find themselves back in Arlen after a stint away.
So, hugs are gone, handshakes are in! And fatherly wisdom is simpler than ever. Just don’t expect to see Bobby taking over grill duties any time soon, though. The grill is still Hank’s sacred domain, and no amount of adulting on Bobby’s part is going to change that.
While the world may have evolved, Hank’s love for crisp lawns, punctuality, and proper propane usage remains untouched. This Father’s Day tease reminds us that some dads never go out of style... they just get a little more stubborn with age.
Expect plenty of awkward generational disagreements as Hank and his now-adult son Bobby have more straight-talk conversations where they’ll try to see eye to eye. But adjusting to a modern world where apps and star ratings are all the rage, Hank is the kind of guy who still trusts word of mouth and believes a man’s reputation is only built on hard work, punctuality, and proper lawn care.
King of the Hill will make its glorious return starting Monday, August 4th on Hulu and Disney+.
“The Diplomat: Season 3” Teaser: Bradley Whitford Joins Allison Janney and Keri Russell in New Season of Netflix’s High-Stakes Political Thriller — Premiering This Fall
It’s a mini West Wing reunion!
Bradley Whitford, fresh from his Emmy-winning stint on The Handmaid’s Tale, has now joined the cast of The Diplomat’s third season, once again acting alongside West Wing alum Allison Janney.
Whitford plays Janney’s husband, Todd Penn. Following the shocking ending of Season 2’s finale, Vice President Grace Penn (Janney) is now the acting U.S. president after the incumbent suffered a fatal heart attack in the final moments of Season 2. This revelation comes as audiences learn that Grace Penn had secretly hatched a terrorist plot that pushed the U.K. government to the brink of war with Russia.
Keri Russell’s U.S. Ambassador to the U.K., Kate Wyler, was on the verge of publicly exposing the vice president’s treasonous actions. But with Penn now in control of the Oval Office, the power dynamic has completely shifted, as she can wield political power with the best of them.
Created and executive produced by former West Wing producer–writer Debora Cahn, The Diplomat has gained in popularity over the years, becoming one of the best political dramas in Netflix’s catalog.
The series follows Kate Wyler (Russell), the newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to the U.K., who arrives just as a global crisis threatens to drag Britain into war. As she navigates the treacherous waters of international diplomacy, desperately seeking the truth to avert a devastating counterattack, Kate learns she’s being eyed as the next vice president, despite her claims of not wanting the job. Those hopes, nevertheless, quickly evaporate with the sudden death of the U.S. president, which propels the scandal-ridden Vice President Penn (Janney) into the Oval Office. The worst part? Wyler has discovered evidence showing Penn has been the very puppet master behind the escalating crisis between the U.K. and Russia.
Rufus Sewell also returns in Season 3 as Kate’s estranged husband, Hal Wyler—a fiercely loyal yet impeccably calculating ex-ambassador who desperately wants to see his wife in the White House, even as he repeatedly gets in the way of her climb to power.
Co-starring Rory Kinnear, Ato Essandoh, David Gyasi, and Ali Ahn, The Diplomat returns with its third season this fall.
“Ballard” Trailer: Maggie Q Stars as a No-Nonsense LAPD Detective in This New Gritty ‘Bosch’ Spinoff Series — Premiering July 9th on Prime Video
Move over, Bosch! There’s a new detective on the beat, and her vacation time hasn’t been touched... because crime doesn’t take a day off, and neither does she.
In the upcoming Amazon original detective series Ballard, a spinoff set within the Bosch universe, Maggie Q (Designated Survivor, Nikita) stars as LAPD Detective Renée Ballard. She works in a city where old-school cop instincts meet the modern-day minefield of policing in the public eye.
After Bosch and Bosch: Legacy laid the groundwork, Ballard brings the action back inside LAPD walls as Detective Ballard is tasked with restoring order to a department on the brink of collapse. She finds herself digging into cold cases after a long stint in homicide. While navigating internal politics, public distrust, and a city that’s lost faith in its police department, Ballard is tough, sharp, and not here to play by anyone’s outdated rulebook... except maybe her own.
Based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling crime novels, the series features a top-tier ensemble cast including John Carroll Lynch, Michael Mosley, Courtney Taylor, Amy Hill, Rebecca Field, and Victoria Moroles—with Titus Welliver making a much-anticipated guest return as the ever-iconic Harry Bosch.
Ballard premieres Wednesday, July 9th on Prime Video.
“Foundation: Season 3” Trailer: Lee Pace and Jared Harris Brace for Galactic Collapse in New Season of Apple TV’s Ambitious Sci-Fi Saga — Streaming July 11th
You know what they say: the bigger you are, the harder you fall. The same goes for empires. And no matter which century it is, when big empires fall, you better believe chaos will rise.
So, listen up sci-fi fanatics: you had a grand ol’ time watching the finale of Andor, but now you’re wondering, What’s my next binge? Fear not! Foundation is here to return with its third season next month, turning your summer into a rage of political strife and social upheaval. (Well, not like the summer wasn’t going to turn out that way already.)
If Foundation hasn’t been on your radar, consider this your wake-up call: Apple TV+ has more to offer than Ted Lasso and Severance. This sprawling, visually stunning sci-fi saga is based on Isaac Asimov’s “unfilmable” book series, which tells the epic story of a decaying galactic empire beginning its long collapse as a genius mathematician’s plan to preserve knowledge and culture becomes the mission at hand. With movie-sized budgets, jaw-dropping VFX, and a story that originally laid the groundwork for sci-fi classics like Star Wars and Dune, this series might just fill that Andor-sized hole you need filled.
With cast regulars Lee Pace, Jared Harris, Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, and Laura Birn returning for Season 3, the series also adds Game of Thrones alum Pilou Asbæk, Cherry Jones, Ralph Ineson, and Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur to the roster.
Executive produced by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman, Foundation: Season 3 launches Friday, July 11th on Apple TV+.
“Ironheart” New Trailer and New Promos: Dominique Thorne Returns as Riri Williams in Marvel’s New Coming-of-Age Superhero Series — Premiering June 24th on Disney+
When we first met Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, she was an MIT prodigy with a genius brain, eager to learn the ropes. Now, in her own standalone six-episode miniseries, we can really see her take off. Her brilliance might carry her to places she’s never been, but it’s her heart that will guide her all the way through.
Ironheart stars Dominique Thorne reprising her role as Riri Williams. After her time in Wakanda, Riri’s back home in Chicago, trying to stay grounded while building her own tech empire. But when Parker Robbins—aka the Hood, played by Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos—shows up with deep pockets and even deeper secrets, Riri faces a familiar superhero dilemma: how to protect her gifts from those looking to exploit them.
With a blend of street-level danger and sky-high stakes, Ironheart explores what happens when mentorship and manipulation blur into one. Because this isn’t just a story about how one person builds high-tech, Stark-level armor with ingenuity… it’s also about how that person can protect their soul while wearing it.
Backed by executive producer Ryan Coogler and head writer Chinaka Hodge, the series features a diverse cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Ross, Manny Montana, Shakira Barrera, and Shea Couleé, alongside Jim Rash, Paul Calderón, and Cree Summer.
Ironheart premieres Tuesday, June 24th on Disney+.
“Squid Game: Season 3” Final Trailer: Lee Jung-jae Returns for One Last Fight in Netflix’s Hotly Anticipated Series Finale — Premieres June 27th
When Squid Game came out in September 2021, the world was caught off guard. This little Korean show not only blew up into a global ratings sensation but also became a cultural phenomenon, where innocent children’s games were reimagined as weapons for sadistic challenges. The show also taps into the heated debate about social-class disparity—where the less fortunate, left fighting for scraps, might view life-or-death games with massive cash prizes as a more appealing option than facing the brutal reality of economic inequality.
Later this month, Squid Game returns with its third and final season, bringing one last brutal showdown among players fighting for a chance at the life-changing prize—and perhaps at their very humanity.
Picking up directly after Season 2’s jaw-dropper, Gi-hun a.k.a. Player 456 (Emmy-winner Lee Jung-jae) must muster his last ounce of strength and will as he dusts himself off and gears up to fight once more to dismantle the very system that brought him here. Win or lose, this time it’s all or nothing: if he falls, the game lives on—if he triumphs, he just might break it for good.
Now, let the games begin… and perhaps for the last time. That is, until Netflix greenlights multiple remakes, because in the world of streaming, “final” just means “see you in the spin-off.”
Squid Game: Season 3 launches Friday, June 27th on Netflix.
“Hotel Costiera” Teaser: Grey’s Anatomy’s Jesse Williams Stars as a Resort Fixer Caught in a High-Stakes Mystery Along Italy’s Sun-Drenched Coast in This New Series — Premiering September 24th on Prime Video
From Grey’s Anatomy to the Italian Riviera, Jesse Williams stars in Hotel Costiera, a sun-drenched mystery series where luxury comes with a side of secrets.
In this new Amazon original series, Williams plays Daniel De Luca aka “DD,” a half-Italian ex-Marine turned fixer at a glamorous cliffside hotel in Positano, Italy. While smoothing over scandals for the super-rich, Daniel is drawn into a far more dangerous mission: locating the missing daughter of the hotel’s powerful owner. One month has passed since Alice vanished—and someone very dangerous wants her to stay lost.
With Emmy-winning director Adam Bernstein (Fargo, 30 Rock) at the helm alongside Italian director Giacomo Martelli (Miss Fallaci), this six-episode limited series aims to blend resort-set opulence with sun-kissed suspense ... and one hell of a room service bill.
Also starring Maria Chiara Giannetta, Jordan Alexandra, Antonio Gerardi, and Jean-Hugues Anglade, Hotel Costiera checks in on Wednesday, September 24th on Prime Video.
“Too Much” Trailer: Hacks star Megan Stalter and White Lotus’s Will Sharpe Navigate Messy Love and Culture Clashes in Lena Dunham’s New Rom-Com Series — Premiering July 10th on Netflix
Hacks breakout Megan Stalter flees to London to find herself, but instead she finds love. The only problem is, he’s nothing like Hugh Grant from the “British” Jones Diary films.
In this new cheeky romantic comedy series Too Much, Stalter stars as Jessica, a self-sabotaging New York workaholic. Fresh off a horrible breakup, Jessica trades the chaos of the Big Apple for long walks through the rainy streets of London. Just when she’s ready to give up on love entirely, she meets Felix (Will Sharpe, of The White Lotus: Season 2), a charming British musician who seems like trouble with a capital “Tea.”
Their romance is messy, magnetic, and filled with culture clashes… and neither of them can seem to quit each other. Can a heartbroken American and a delightfully dysfunctional Brit make it work across the pond? What would “British Jones” do?
In addition to Stalter and Sharpe, the cast is stacked with A-list guest stars including Emily Ratajkowski, Andrew Rannells, Naomi Watts, Richard E. Grant, Rita Wilson, Andrew Scott, Rhea Perlman, Adèle Exarchopoulos, and Stephen Fry, among others.
The series hails from Girls creator Lena Dunham and her husband, British musician Luis Felber—and we can only imagine it’s somewhat based on their own experiences as a couple navigating different cultures and backgrounds.
Too Much is set to debut Thursday, July 10th, only on Netflix.
