📺 “Chad Powers” Trailer: Glen Powell Plays a Disgraced QB Pulling a Mrs. Doubtfire Comeback in New College Football Comedy Series — Premieres September 30th on Hulu/Disney+
Glen Powell is giving it the old college try—literally—as a washed-up quarterback scrambling for a comeback in this new sports comedy series, debuting on Hulu this September.
Chad Powers follows in the footsteps of something like Ted Lasso, as it too was inspired by an ESPN comedy spoof. In this real-life stunt, NFL quarterback Eli Manning went undercover as (yep, you guessed it) “Chad Powers” at Penn State tryouts for an ESPN-aired skit.
In the upcoming series, Powell takes on both roles of star and co-creator, playing Russ Holliday, a once-promising college QB whose arrogance cost him everything after celebrating a touchdown too early, leading to the biggest fumble of his life. After botching the Championship game in front of millions, Russ quickly becomes the punchline of college football. Social media tears him apart as his career evaporates, and suddenly he’s the guy no team will touch.
So, what’s a fallen star to do? Easy: pull the ole Mrs. Doubtfire!
Armed with makeup, prosthetics, and a good ol’ boy persona, Russ reinvents himself as “Chad Powers,” a mysterious good-hearted yokel with just enough grit to walk onto the struggling South Georgia team. But getting on the field is one thing, keeping the disguise going is another. As he dodges coaches, teammates, and his own ego, the lie quickly becomes a whole new ballgame.
The comedy series also stars Steve Zahn as Coach Jake Hudson, Toby Huss as Russ’s father, and a supporting cast including Perry Mattfeld, Wynn Everett, Frankie A. Rodriguez, Clayne Crawford, Colton Ryan, Keese Wilson, Xavier Mills, and Quentin Plair.
Behind the scenes, the project is co-created and executive produced by Powell himself, alongside writer Michael Waldron (Rick and Morty, Loki, Heels). NFL legends/QB brothers Eli and Peyton Manning also serve as executive producers, drawing inspiration from Eli’s original ESPN stunt.
Chad Powers kicks off Tuesday, September 30th on Hulu and Disney+.
📺 “The Lowdown” Trailer: Ethan Hawke Uncovers Tulsa’s Dark Secrets in Sterlin Harjo’s Southern Noir Crime Series with Tim Blake Nelson, Kyle MacLachlan, and Jeanne Tripplehorn — Premieres September 23rd on FX/Hulu/Disney+
The moment Ethan Hawke made a surprise guest appearance as Elora’s long-lost absentee father in the penultimate episode of the series finale of Sterlin Harjo’s groundbreaking Oklahoma-set Native American comedy Reservation Dogs, we knew it was a match made in heaven. Hawke’s grunge-rock coolness paired with Harjo’s biting satirical wit was the perfect combination. It was also one of the most memorable and emotional episodes of the entire series, carried out with a quiet Oklahoma calmness that made the impact hit even harder.
Well, it looks like Sterlin Harjo and Ethan Hawke must’ve had a blast working together, because they’ve teamed up once again—only this time, that breezy composure is gone, replaced by a Southern-drenched noir where fists are flying and faces are left bloodied in the trunk of a beaten-up car.
In this new eight-episode series The Lowdown, Hawke takes on the lead role of Lee Raybon, a self-proclaimed “truthstorian” who moonlights as a citizen journalist while running a rare bookstore in the city’s heart. Lee’s obsession with exposing corruption keeps dragging him into the shadows of Tulsa’s underbelly, even as it strains his bond with his 14-year-old daughter Francis (Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew) and frustrates his ex, Samantha (Kaniehtiio Horn, Reservation Dogs).
When Lee publishes an exposé on the powerful Washberg family, the fallout is immediate: Dale Washberg (Tim Blake Nelson, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs), the family’s black sheep, turns up dead from an apparent suicide. But a trail of cryptic clues suggests Dale wanted someone—anyone—to dig deeper. Lee takes the bait, only to find the grieving widow (Jeanne Tripplehorn, The Terminal List) cozying up to her brother-in-law Donald Washberg (Kyle MacLachlan, Twin Peaks), a slick gubernatorial candidate with much to lose if the truth comes out.
As Lee follows the trail, he attracts both enemies and unlikely allies—including Marty (veteran character actor Keith David, They Live), a mysterious, literature-loving stranger with motives as enigmatic as his sudden appearances.
The star-studded ensemble also features Peter Dinklage, Siena East, Cody Lightning, Scott Shepherd, Michael Hitchcock, Michael “Killer Mike” Render, Tracy Letts, and Macon Blair.
Created, written, and directed by Sterlin Harjo, with Hawke serving as both star and executive producer, The Lowdown is set to premiere Tuesday, September 23rd on FX, with streaming available the next day on Hulu/Disney+.

Chastain plays Jodi, an ordinary mother whose keen instincts, sharp observation skills, and quiet resilience make her one of the country’s most effective undercover online investigators. The series co-stars Nnamdi Asomugha, Cole Doman, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, and guest star Pablo Schreiber.
Behind the camera, Chastain executive produces alongside Kelly Carmichael, Alan Poul (Six Feet Under), Melissa James Gibson (House of Cards), and two-time DGA winner Matthew Heineman (A Private War). 📺 “Wayward” Trailer: Toni Collette Runs a Sinister ‘School’ for Troubled Teens in Mae Martin’s Netflix Mystery-Thriller Miniseries — Premieres September 25th
Toni Collette has a radiant smile. But this new Netflix miniseries asks: what’s behind that smile? Perhaps something far more sinister than any of us would like to admit. So, when she’s pitching the idea that her “school” for troubled teens has “groundbreaking therapeutic programs,” take it with a grain of salt—because it just might be more trap than treatment.
In the upcoming Netflix limited mystery thriller Wayward, Canadian stand-up comic Mae Martin (Feel Good) trades punchlines for plot twists as they not only create but also star as Alex Dempsey, a freshly transferred small-town deputy. After relocating to their wife’s hometown, Alex soon realizes their new home isn’t as quiet—or as safe—as it seems.
The center of suspicion? Tall Pine Academy, a picturesque reform school for “troubled teens” that holds more secrets than lessons. It’s also the economic engine keeping the whole town afloat.
At the heart of the academy is Toni Collette as Evelyn Wade, its enigmatic and dangerously charismatic headmistress. She’s the smiling public face of an institution that may be doing more harm than good. But when two students escape, their revelations begin to shatter the school’s polished image, exposing a chilling web of lies and long-buried town secrets.
With Sarah Gadon (True Detective: Season 3) co-starring as Alex’s pregnant wife and Alyvia Alyn Lind (Chucky) as one of the academy’s newest “students,” the cast also features Brandon Jay McLaren, Patrick J. Adams, Patrick Gallagher, Sydney Topliffe, and Joshua Close.
Created and executive produced by Mae Martin, alongside Ryan Scott, Wayward blends small-town noir with a fish-out-of-water tale—where every friendly wave and polite smile might be hiding something ominous.
Wayward premieres Thursday, September 25th on Netflix.
📺 “Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy” Trailer: Michael Chernus Transforms into the Infamous Killer in New Chilling True-Crime Limited Series with Gabriel Luna — Premieres October 16th on Peacock
Clowns were creepy long before Pennywise, but John Wayne Gacy made the nightmare all too real. Between 1972 and 1978, the Chicago-area contractor, community leader, and part-time children’s clown performer murdered 33 young men—most of them found buried in the crawl space beneath his suburban home. To neighbors, Gacy was charming, funny, even helpful. To his victims, he was the devil in disguise, the devil incarnate... the stuff of nightmares.
Peacock’s new limited series Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy dramatizes one of America’s most notorious serial killers, peeling back the twisted layers of his double life while also honoring the victims whose stories were too often overshadowed by his infamy. The series not only chronicles the gruesome murders but also examines the grief of families, the trauma left behind, and the systemic failures that allowed Gacy’s killing spree to go unchecked for years.
Michael Chernus (Severance, Orange Is the New Black) takes on the chilling role of Gacy, bearing a remarkable resemblance as he masks a hollow soul behind a smiling facade of community service.
Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us, Terminator: Dark Fate) also stars as ‘70s homicide detective Rafael Tovar, whose relentless investigation cracked the case wide open and uncovered the horrors beneath Gacy’s house.
In addition to Chernus and Luna, the cast is stacked with talent including Michael Angarano, Marin Ireland, Chris Sullivan, James Badge Dale, Augustus Prew, and Hamish Allan-Headley.
Created by Emmy-nominated writer-producer Patrick Macmanus (Dr. Death, The Girl from Plainville), Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy begins October 16th on Peacock—just in time to turn your Halloween season into a waking nightmare.
