📺 “Below” Teaser Trailer: Josh Hartnett and Mackenzie Davis Face a Terrifying Sea Creature in Netflix’s Newfoundland-Set Horror Mystery Series — Premiering Thursday, October 8th on Netflix
Josh Hartnett is back, people. And this time, he’s leading a new Netflix series that might have us fearing the water all over again.
Hartnett, who has been one of our favorites since the days of Pearl Harbor and Black Hawk Down, has enjoyed a steady career resurgence in recent years, particularly after starring in M. Night Shyamalan’s 2024 twisty serial-killer thriller Trap, along with memorable appearances in FX’s The Bear and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
Now, he’s heading to the rocky shores of Newfoundland for Below, an all-new six-episode horror-mystery series where a small fishing town might be the last place you’d expect to find something monstrous hiding just beneath the ocean’s surface.
Hartnett stars as Calvin Penney, a working-class fisherman and single father struggling to hold together a family still carrying the weight of personal loss. Life in the remote community of Snooks Arm is already difficult enough, but things take a far more dangerous turn when a mysterious sea creature begins terrorizing the town and threatening the waters that generations of local fishermen have depended on for decades.
And who better to get to the bottom of this creature mystery than the guy from one of the coolest and most overlooked sci-fi flicks of the ’90s, The Faculty?
Calvin joins forces with visiting marine researcher Fonda Howander, played by Station Eleven’s Mackenzie Davis, hoping to identify whatever is moving beneath the surface before another resident becomes its next victim. But as their investigation continues, the attacks begin pointing toward the island’s buried history, along with Calvin’s own traumatic past, suggesting that the creature may have been haunting the community for far longer than anyone realizes.
Created and showrun by Canadian writer Jesse McKeown, whose previous credits include The Umbrella Academy and 19-2, the upcoming limited series draws heavily from Newfoundland’s maritime culture, folklore, landscape, and history.
The strong ensemble cast—all sporting distinct Newfoundland accents, by the way—also includes Stranger Things’ Charlie Heaton as Wade Penney, Bridgerton’s Ruby Stokes as Mary Penney, Halloween Ends’ Rohan Campbell as Jay Penney, Willow Kean as Ruth Penney, and Kaleb Horn as Noah. Species’ Natasha Henstridge also appears as one of the community’s local leaders.
All six episodes of Below will premiere Thursday, October 8th on Netflix.

Americans have a rather negative reputation for being rude and obnoxious while traveling abroad. And while we’re not saying that stereotype is entirely untrue, it’s good to know there are shows like Ted Lasso making a genuine effort to change the narrative and suggest that American “optimism” might be our greatest export to foreigners. Then again, some might call it stupidity. And yes, that isn’t entirely untrue, since maintaining blind optimism often requires ignoring all available evidence. You just gotta… “believe.”
Three years after Ted Lasso walked away from AFC Richmond and returned home to Kansas, Jason Sudeikis’ relentlessly optimistic football coach is heading back across the pond. But rather than simply reclaiming his old position, Ted is taking on a challenge that pushes him into entirely new territory: coaching Richmond’s second-division women’s soccer team.
Season 4 reunites Ted with Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein), Keeley Jones (Juno Temple), Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt), and Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift), while introducing a new roster of players and staff members with their own ambitions, frustrations, and reasons for taking the field.
Sudeikis returns to lead the comedy as both star and executive producer. The ensemble also includes new cast members Sex Education’s Tanya Reynolds as coach Alice Chilton, along with Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely as Ted’s son, Henry.
Created by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly, and Brendan Hunt, and based on the NBC Sports sketch character, the Apple series appears ready to continue its belief that the sport isn’t necessarily just about skill and hard work, but also the friendships formed along the way. Now Ted gets to test that philosophy with a whole new team fighting for its own place at Richmond.
The 10-episode fourth season is slated to premiere Wednesday, August 5th on Apple TV, with new episodes arriving weekly through October 7th.

In this day and age, it’s hard enough for a television show to survive its first season, let alone make it all the way to Season 18. And for a comedy series? That’s almost unfathomable.
Most comedies begin running out of steam by their fourth, fifth, or sixth season, so the fact that It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia has lasted this long has to be credited to the incredible chemistry among its main cast. Over the years, they’ve built a devoted audience willing to follow these characters to the ends of the Earth just to watch them act like complete fools and stumble into increasingly ridiculous situations.
Season 18 doesn’t appear to be any different. Charlie, Mac, Dennis, Dee, and Frank are back at Paddy’s Pub, cooking up more selfish schemes involving inheritance money, automation, conspiracy theories, sobriety culture, school, youth sports, and even a Renaissance Faire.
In other words, the world continues to change while this pub-owning group remains completely incapable of learning anything from it.
Rob Mac (McElhenney), Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Kaitlin Olson, and Danny DeVito once again lead the ensemble, returning as five of television’s most stubbornly terrible people. David Hornsby also returns as the perpetually unfortunate Rickety Cricket, while Jimmi Simpson is back as Liam McPoyle, suggesting the Gang’s latest disasters will spread well beyond the walls of Paddy’s.
This long-running FXX comedy has survived by refusing to soften its characters or force them into meaningful growth. Instead, every new pop-cultural shift becomes another opportunity for the group to make terrible life choices, turning even the most ordinary situations into unbearably awkward disasters.
After 17 seasons, we’re still ready to see what they come up with next. The jokes will be big. The humor will be crass. And the Always Sunny Gang will almost certainly find new taboos to cross.
Season 18 premieres Monday, August 17th on FXX and streams on Hulu and Disney+.

Based on Ellis’ semi-autobiographical novel and set inside the moneyed world of 1980s L.A., this FX thriller follows Bret (Igby Rigney), an aspiring writer at an elite prep school whose polished social circle begins to fracture when magnetic newcomer Robert Mallory (Homer Gere) arrives before senior year. Kaia Gerber, Hayes Warner, Graham Campbell, Wes Bentley, Evan Rachel Wood, and Jordan Roth co-star as desire, jealousy, status games, and a killer known as the Trawler turn teenage obsession into something far more dangerous. ’80s L.A. excess wasn’t just about consumption and privilege... it also meant the city was crawling with people willing to cross any line to get what they wanted.

When it comes to network television, legal dramas are a dime a dozen. But this one has Luke Cage. “Sweet Christmas!” Mike Colter trades in his bulletproof hoodie for a courtroom suit to lead this David-versus-Goliath drama from Robert and Michelle King, creators of The Good Wife, Evil, and Elsbeth. He stars as Michael Price, a lawyer fired by a tech startup and cheated out of stock options just before its breakthrough. Teaming with Rachel Keller’s Olivia Siffre, another discarded attorney, he builds a practice for workers exploited by Silicon Valley’s most powerful companies. Big Tech may have the money and data, but these lawyers are ready to serve notice.
