Trailer Blitz: Tin Soldier, Preparation for the Next Life, Love, Brooklyn, Queen of Bones, We Strangers, MEGADOC, and More
Time to catch up on this week's movie trailers! Here's a list of films coming to screens soon!
★ “Tin Soldier” Trailer: Jamie Foxx Leads a Militant Cult in Brad Furman’s Wild Action Thriller with Scott Eastwood and Robert De Niro — In Theaters September 12th, VOD September 30th
Jamie Foxx rocks an afro and a messiah complex in this new action-thriller that borderlines on ridiculous and B-movie madness. Perhaps in the spirit of an old-school John Carpenter action flick, Tin Soldier seems to be set in a world of its own—one where mercenaries have united under the vision of a radical.
Directed by The Lincoln Lawyer helmer Brad Furman, the film sees Foxx playing a charismatic cult leader amassing an army of rogue soldiers, while Scott Eastwood stars as Nash Cavanaugh, an ex–special ops soldier and former cult insider with a serious score to settle.
Recruited by a shadowy government official (played by Robert De Niro—yes, the cast of this film is wildly random), Nash is sent on a deadly solo mission: infiltrate the compound and take out the “Dear Leader” who destroyed his life. The objective is simple: sneak in, stay quiet, and eliminate Foxx’s character before the night is over.
With John Leguizamo, Shamier Anderson, Rita Ora, and Saïd Taghmaoui rounding out the cast, Tin Soldier promises explosive action, cult psychology, and high-stakes vengeance. In theaters September 12th, before landing on VOD September 30th.
★ “Preparation for the Next Life” Trailer: Fred Hechinger and Sebiye Behtiyar Find Fragile Love in Bing Liu’s Intimate Romance — In Select Theaters September 5th
Love knows no boundaries, no rules, and certainly can cut through any differences one might have. But falling in love in a big city, those differences don’t just disappear—they collide, challenge, and ultimately reveal what love is truly made of.
From Bing Liu, the director of the Oscar-nominated skateboarding documentary Minding the Gap, comes an intimate, aching portrait of two outsiders trying to find connection in a city that never sleeps nor slows down for anyone, let alone a couple of lovebirds.
Preparation for the Next Life stars newcomer Sebiye Behtiyar as a Uyghur immigrant navigating the harsh realities of New York’s Chinatown kitchens, where survival is a daily battle. When she crosses paths with a wide-eyed U.S. soldier (played by Gladiator II actor Fred Hechinger) fresh from war, a fragile bond forms—one built on shared trauma, tenderness, and the stubborn hope for something more.
‘Cause love isn’t an escape, it’s a reason to keep going. And young love might just be the thing that reminds us that no matter how lonely we feel, we’re never truly alone when someone sees us for who we are.
Preparation for the Next Life is slated to open in select theaters September 5th. Bring a tissue. This looks like a heartbreaker in the best way.
★ “Love, Brooklyn” Trailer: André Holland Navigates Romance, Regret, and Reinvention in Rachael Holder’s Stylish NYC Drama with Nicole Beharie, DeWanda Wise, and Roy Wood Jr. — In Theaters August 29th, Expands September 5th
Young love, compared to falling in love later in life, might as well be night and day. One burns fast and bright—reckless, raw, and full of firsts. The other? It’s slower, deeper, weathered by experience, personal issues, and unforeseeable obstacles.
In the upcoming indie drama Love, Brooklyn, falling in love and maintaining it might be as difficult as surviving the city itself. In a borough where everything’s in flux, Moonlight's André Holland stars as a struggling New York writer caught between past and present as he juggles a rekindled spark with his ex (played by The Morning Show's Nicole Beharie), a deepening connection with a single mom (DeWanda Wise of Jurassic World Dominion), and the steady wisdom of his best friend (comedian Roy Wood Jr. of The Daily Show).
Set against the gentrified rhythms of modern-day Brooklyn, this stylish debut from director Rachael Abigail Holder captures the beauty, heartbreak, and messiness of love in transition.
Executive produced and partially financed by Steven Soderbergh, Love, Brooklyn opens in New York on August 29th, expanding nationwide September 5th.
★ “Queen of Bones” Trailer: Julia Butters and Jacob Tremblay Unearth Family Secrets in Robert Budreau’s Depression-Era Folklore Thriller with Martin Freeman — In Theaters August 1st
Picture Oregon, 1931. It's an era where superstition blends into the supernatural. And curiosity comes with a high price, as some secrets are best kept hidden—perhaps best locked behind closed doors, buried beneath the roots of old forests, or whispered only in candlelit rooms when the wind is howling. And the so-called “witch in the woods” just might be the only one telling the truth.
In Queen of Bones, an eerie Depression-era folktale, twin siblings Lily and Sam (played by Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's Julia Butters and Room's Jacob Tremblay) begin to suspect their father's secrets run deeper than grief—especially when clues point to their late mother’s ties to the occult. As they dig into the past, they unearth a chilling legacy their father (played by The Hobbit's Martin Freeman) desperately wants to keep buried.
Soon they find themselves drawn into the very woods where the truth lies waiting to be unearthed. But what they discover might open a haunting tale of family, folklore, and the ghosts they can’t outrun.
Also starring Taylor Schilling and directed by Robert Budreau (Stockholm, Born to Be Blue), Queen of Bones hits theaters August 1st.
★ “We Strangers” Trailer: Kirby Howell-Baptiste Talks to the Dead (Or Does She?) in Anu Valia’s Twisty Dark Comedy — In Theaters August 22nd
When does a little white lie become something more? Maybe it’s when the lie snowballs into something you can’t control. But then again, maybe sometimes a little lie goes a long way.
In the dark comedy We Strangers, Kirby Howell-Baptiste (of Netflix's The Sandman and HBO's Barry) stars as Rayelle, a sharp-tongued house cleaner whose offhand claim that she can speak to the dead turns her quiet world in Gary, Indiana upside down. As word spreads, suburban housewives begin calling on her for spiritual help, and Rayelle finds herself playing the role of medium with startling success.
But as her newfound “gift” takes root—and Rayelle begins to wonder if she really might be able to speak to the dead—what starts as a clever side hustle spirals into something far stranger, more dangerous… and more real than she ever expected.
Written and directed by TV helmer Anu Valia (Never Have I Ever, The Afterparty, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), and also starring Paul Adelstein, Sarah Goldberg, and Maria Dizzia. We Strangers hits theaters August 22nd.
★ MEGADOC Teaser: Go Behind Francis Ford Coppola’s $120 Million Gamble to Make Megalopolis in Mike Figgis’ Unfiltered Filmmaking Portrait — Coming in September
What makes a filmmaker spend his own money to make his passion film? Perhaps it's not only raw, unshakable passion—but also a little madness, a whole heap of obsession, and the unshakable belief that the story is worth the risk.
Well, for Francis Ford Coppola, that risk was $120 million... of his own money. The film was last year's ambitious misfire Megalopolis. Was it worth it? Coppola would answer with a resounding yes. Go behind the madness, the vision, and the movie only Coppola could make.
MEGADOC is a raw, fly-on-the-wall documentary chronicling Coppola’s decades-long journey to bring Megalopolis to life.
Directed by Mike Figgis, this intimate portrait captures the legendary filmmaker’s unfiltered process—blending archival footage, candid cast interviews, and real-time moments from a production fueled by ambition, obsession, and one man’s refusal to compromise.
Featuring Coppola alongside stars Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, Nathalie Emmanuel, Dustin Hoffman, Giancarlo Esposito, and more, the doc gets to the heart of what makes Coppola... Coppola. Is he a pure risk-taker—or just a madman?
MEGADOC will be released this September.
★ “Zero A.D.” Trailer: Sam Worthington and Jim Caviezel Face a Prophetic Birth in Alejandro Monteverde’s Biblical Epic — In Theaters December 19th
It’s a story as old as time: the fear of losing the grip on power, and how the innocent often hold more power than the powerful care to admit.
From Alejandro Gómez Monteverde, director of Sound of Freedom and Cabrini, comes Zero A.D., a forthcoming biblical epic that chronicles the violent struggle surrounding the birth of a child destined to change the world.
Sam Worthington stars as Antipater, the ambitious son of King Herod (Jim Caviezel), whose reign is threatened by a prophecy. Deva Cassel portrays Mary, the young woman at the heart of this divine upheaval, with Jamie Ward as Joseph, Ben Mendelsohn as the merciless Nahash of Ammon, and Gael García Bernal as Joachim.
It's a sweeping tale of prophecy, power, and faith—hailing from the faith-based movie studio Angel Studios, the same team behind Sound of Freedom and The Chosen.
Zero A.D. will arrive in theaters December 19th.
★ “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” Brand-New Spidey Suit Reveal: Tom Holland is Ready! — In Theaters July 31st, 2026
Tom Holland asks fans, Are you ready? as he dons his Spidey suit once again. Only this time, the suit’s a little less flashy and stripped of its hi-tech gadgets.
Holland will return next summer in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, where Peter Parker finds himself in a world that no longer remembers his heroic escapades with the Avengers. With the public’s memory of him wiped clean, it’s truly like starting from scratch.
That means no Stark tech, no superhero allies, and no financial backing—just Peter, his web shooters, and the weight of responsibility. Will we see Spidey scraping by on a meager paycheck as a freelance newspaper photographer while juggling everyday struggles and street-level crime? All signs point to yes.
Directed by Shang-Chi filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters July 31st next year. Until then, check out the new suit reveal tease and get ready for a more grounded, grittier web-slinging adventure.
