Marvel’s New “Thunderbolts” Trailer Channels A24 Vibes! — “Absolute Cinema”
No one would mistake Marvel Studios for A24 Films. That would be ridiculous and silly. But that doesn’t mean Marvel doesn’t have the resources to siphon some of the most promising talents from the arthouse community. In fact, it seems they’re pretty proud to announce that the filmmakers behind their latest MCU film, Thunderbolts, have worked on some pretty prestigious films before joining the Marvel family.
Check out this new Thunderbolts trailer titled “Absolute Cinema.” It’s a bit of a head-scratcher because it seems they’re spoofing trailers for arthouse feature films that typically come from studios like A24 or Neon Films.
Now, we don’t know if Marvel is conceding to the fact that their MCU brand might have been hurt by a recent wave of lackluster films, or maybe they’re trying to convince audiences that they’re confident about Thunderbolts because they’ve hired some really talented filmmakers to work on it.
Either way, it feels a little desperate.
But merely looking at the trailer itself, it's a really cool edit.
“Zero” Trailer: Willem Dafoe’s Sinister Voice Sets the Stage for This High-Stakes Thriller About Two Strangers Forced Into a Deadly Game — In Theaters & VOD on April 11th
This is how great of an actor Willem Dafoe is—first, he doesn’t even need to show his face to make you feel his presence in a film. And second, we don’t need to check the credits to know that the voice in this trailer belongs to Willem Dafoe. It's not only unmistakable, but his mere vocal timbre carries so much weight that we can’t help but feel a little afraid.
In Zero, Dafoe voices a mysterious caller who forces two strangers to play a sadistic game of life and death, with bombs strapped to their chests and a series of chaotic missions to complete. The tension is relentless, with every moment of suspense and danger ratcheted up to maximum levels.
Starring Hus Miller, Cam McHarg, Gary Dourdan, Roger Sallah, and Moran Rosenblatt, this is the latest feature film from Congolese filmmaker Jean Luc Herbulot, who made a splash with his 2021 cult horror action thriller Saloum.
With this new thriller, Herbulot aims to keep audiences on the edge of their seats—possibly clutching their stomach from all the stress.
Surprisingly, Willem Dafoe isn’t credited—but who are you fooling? It’s his voice in the trailer, we bet our lives on it. It's simply impossible to mistake that voice.
Zero hits theaters and VOD on April 11th. —Just don’t answer unknown calls!

When their teenage daughter falls into the clutches of a sadistic street hustler, they embark on a relentless path of vengeance—guns blazing. “That They May Face the Rising Sun” Trailer: A Quiet Irish Countryside Faces Change in This Film Adaptation of John McGahern’s Acclaimed Irish Novel, Starring Barry Ward and Anna Bederke — Opens April 11th in New York
Sometimes, the most profound changes happen at a pace you can’t rush. And if you’re looking for a sweeping drama that reminds us that progress often develops more gradually than we’d like—well, look no further than this new Irish feature.
Irish filmmaker Pat Collins (Song of Granite, Silence) brings celebrated Irish author John McGahern’s sixth and final novel, That They May Face the Rising Sun, to life in a lyrical adaptation steeped in memory, tradition, and quiet change.
Set in the 1970s, the film captures a year in the life of a rural Irish lakeside community navigating a period of transition, as long-held cultural traditions begin to succumb to modern sensibilities.
Barry Ward (Bad Sisters, Jimmy’s Hall) and Anna Bederke (Soul Kitchen, Dying) star as Joe and Kate Ruttledge, an Irish couple returning from London to embrace a slower, more rooted way of life. As the seasons shift, so too does the community, caught between old traditions and modern sensibilities.
That They May Face the Rising Sun opens theatrically in New York on April 11 before expanding to other cities throughout April.
“Shudderbugs” Trailer: Johanna Putnam Writes, Directs, and Stars in This Psychological Thriller About Grief, Isolation, and Paranoia — Hits Digital Platforms on March 25th
When Hollywood won’t open its doors, sometimes you have to kick them down yourself.
Johanna Putnam does just that with Shudderbugs, a psychological thriller she wrote, directed, produced, and stars in. No doubt, pouring her blood, sweat, and tears into the project.
In the indie film, Putnam plays a woman still grappling with her mother’s mysterious and untimely death. She soon spirals down a rabbit hole of grief, suspicion, and isolation to the point of no return.
After spending the last couple of years on the festival circuit, picking up a few festival awards, the film will be coming to digital platforms later this month on March 25th.
