Trailer Blitz: Night Always Comes, Fixed, Hoppers, The Map That Leads to You, It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley, A Savage Art, and More
Time to catch up on this week's movie trailers! Here's a list of films coming to screens soon!
★ “Night Always Comes” Trailer: Vanessa Kirby Is a Financially Desperate Woman Fighting the Clock and the Streets of Portland in This Gritty Netflix Thriller with Jennifer Jason Leigh and Zack Gottsagen — Premiering August 15th on Netflix
Vanessa Kirby will soon make her big-screen debut this month as Marvel’s next big superhero heroine, Susan Storm aka Invisible Woman, in the highly anticipated The Fantastic Four: First Steps. But lest you think she’s ditched serious acting for spandex and superpowers, think again! She’s planning to show off her dramatic chops next month in the new Netflix original feature Night Always Comes, where she’s forced to race against the darkness in a one-night Portland pressure cooker.
In this gritty, pulse-pounding thriller, Kirby takes on the role of Lynette, a woman on the brink—emotionally, financially, and legally. With just one night to scrounge up $25,000 and save her family from eviction, she dives headfirst into Portland’s seedy underworld, where every offer comes with strings and every hour brings a new threat.
How can one woman survive a night like this?
Kirby seemingly delivers an emotionally raw performance as a desperate woman navigating the blurred line between sacrifice and survival, where making impossible choices becomes her only path forward.
Veteran actress Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Hateful Eight, Single White Female) plays Lynette’s hardened mother, while The Peanut Butter Falcon breakout Zack Gottsagen (an actor with Down syndrome) portrays her older brother with special needs, adding emotional weight to Lynette’s frantic nighttime journey.
With a stacked ensemble that includes Randall Park, Stephan James, Julia Fox, Eli Roth, and Michael Kelly, the film is directed by acclaimed television helmer Benjamin Caron (The Crown, Andor) and adapted by screenwriter Sarah Conradt from Willy Vlautin’s novel The Night Always Comes.
Night Always Comes is set to premiere August 15th, only on Netflix.
★ “Fixed” Red Band Teaser Trailer: Adam Devine Voices a Dog on a Raunchy Last Hurrah Before Neuter Day in Genndy Tartakovsky’s R-Rated Animated Comedy — Streaming August 13th on Netflix
Fun fact: legendary game show host Bob Barker would end every episode of The Price is Right with a plea to pet owners to spay and neuter their pets, in an attempt to address the overpopulation of unwanted domestic animals.
But this new adult 2D animated comedy asks the daring question: have pet owners ever stopped to consider what their pets might think about that? Perhaps some pets would very much like to keep their family jewels intact, thank you.
In Fixed, a raunchy, no-holds-barred animated romp from Samurai Jack and Primal mastermind Genndy Tartakovsky, Adam Devine voices Bull, a happy-go-lucky mutt who gets the worst kind of news... he’s getting neutered in the morning. With just 24 hours of freedom left, Bull rounds up his canine crew for one last wild night to confess his love to the glamorous show dog next door (voiced by Kathryn Hahn) and go out with a bang... literally.
Idris Elba voices the tough-but-wise Rocco, Bobby Moynihan plays the ever-loyal Lucky, and Fred Armisen lends his voice to Fetch, a clout-chasing dachshund with more hashtags than sense.
Equal parts filthy and heartfelt, Fixed aims to be a fur-flying, tail-wagging, bone-chasing blast... just don’t watch it with the kids! The film is set to premiere Wednesday, August 13th, only on Netflix.
★ “Hoppers” Teaser Trailer: Teen Girl Goes Full Robotic Beaver in Pixar’s Upcoming Animated Comedy From ‘We Bare Bears’ Creator Daniel Chong — In Theaters March 6, 2026
What happens when a skateboarding teen trespasses into a secret science laboratory, only to discover an incredible breakthrough in connecting humans with animals? Obviously, this teen can't wait to get her hands on the tech... because who wouldn’t want to know what it’s like to talk to animals and really understand what they’re thinking, feeling, and saying behind those wagging tails and twitching whiskers?
In the upcoming Pixar adventure comedy Hoppers, a scrappy teen girl named Mabel Tanaka (voiced by Piper Curda) uploads her consciousness into a highly advanced robotic beaver. She soon becomes the ultimate eco-warrior in this wild new animated adventure from Disney & Pixar.
Her mission? Stop a greedy construction company from turning a lush animal sanctuary into a concrete wasteland.
Think Avatar... that’s if Jake Sully had buck teeth and a tail—and finally learns about “pond rules.” Which is a lot like Darwin’s survival of the fittest, but a lot more vicious… and somehow cuter. Because in the wild, it’s eat or be eaten... and never ask why—just hope you’re not next. And if you are caught? Hope for a quick death... pond rules.
With Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, and Demetri Martin lending their voices, and We Bare Bears creator/animator Daniel Chong writing and directing, Hoppers promises high-tech hijinks, woodland rebellion, and heart—all with a mechanical bite. Okay, it’s a lot like Avatar, but in the Pixar tone and aesthetic.
Hoppers will be chewing its way into theaters early next year, starting March 6, 2026.
★ “The Map That Leads to You” Trailer: Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa Ignite a Summer Romance in Lasse Hallström’s Emotional European Love Story Based on J.P. Monninger’s Best-Seller — Streaming Globally August 20th on Prime Video
What is it about traveling that makes people more susceptible to new experiences? Is it the freedom of being in a new place that makes people more willing to say yes, and to take chances they normally wouldn’t back home?
Now throw in a little romance into the equation, and you’ve got yourself a movie about chance encounters, impulsive decisions, and the kind of love that only makes sense when you're far from everything you know.

The Map That Leads to You streams globally August 20th on Prime Video.
★ “It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley” Trailer: Grace and Tragedy Collide in Amy Berg’s Intimate Portrait of the Late ‘90s Rock Icon — In Theaters August 8th
The sad thing about rock ‘n’ roll is that for every great story of a rock hero rising from nothing to become a world-famous legend, there’s an equally tragic story of someone who burst onto the scene briefly, made an unforgettable impact, and vanished just as quickly—leaving us to wonder what could have been if they were with us just a little longer.
Jeff Buckley, with his undeniable voice and genuine sincerity in his music, might fall into that category of someone who was gone way too soon. But to focus solely on his tragic end would be to overlook the brilliance he shared while he was here.
Now, some might not know the name, but they’ve almost certainly heard Buckley’s now-iconic cover of the Leonard Cohen song “Hallelujah,” featured on his groundbreaking 1994 studio album Grace.
Sadly, Grace would be Buckley’s only completed studio album, as he tragically died in an accidental drowning in the Mississippi River in 1997 during a spontaneous swim—a brief break from recording new music. He was only 30 years old.
Considered to be the voice that haunted a generation, Buckley’s story is now getting the documentary it deserves, 28 years after his untimely passing. It’s called It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley.
Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Amy Berg (Janis: Little Girl Blue, West of Memphis), this intimate portrait dives deep into the short, brilliant life of Jeff Buckley—the ethereal-voiced singer-songwriter whose only studio album, Grace, became a cult classic and whose tragic death at 30 turned him into a rock legend, another example of a light extinguished too soon.
Told through never-before-seen archival footage, personal reflections from his mother Mary Guibert, former loves Rebecca Moore and Joan Wasser, bandmates Michael Tighe and Parker Kindred, and fellow artists like Ben Harper and Aimee Mann, It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley aims to capture the mystery, music, and emotional force of a talent who shined bright but burned out far too fast.
The doc is due to open in theaters August 8th.
★ “A Savage Art: The Life & Cartoons of Pat Oliphant” Trailer: The Life and Legacy of America’s Fiercest Political Cartoonist Explored in This New Documentary — Hitting Theaters September 5th
They say the pen is mightier than the sword. But in the world of politics and ego-bloated politicians, a little ink-drawn cartoon doodle might be the best way to cut deepest. And Patrick Oliphant might have been the best artist of his generation to mock power, expose hypocrisy, and speak truth when words alone couldn't do it.
From fearlessly mocking presidents to dive-bombing airplanes just for kicks, Oliphant lived life with ink-stained bravado. And now the life and legacy of this Australian-born cartoonist is the subject of a new documentary, A Savage Art, diving into how he became America’s most ferocious political satirist, skewering the powerful with razor wit and impeccable draftsmanship and artistry over five tumultuous decades.
Directed by Bill Banowsky, the documentary weaves intimate interviews, rare archival footage, and hundreds of Oliphant’s most scathing political cartoons into a portrait of a man who never backed down from a sacred cow... or even a stunt plane. It also traces the vital role of political cartooning through history, reminding us just how essential a fearless pen still is in an age of media mergers and partisan dissonance.
A Savage Art: The Life & Cartoons of Pat Oliphant is coming to theaters September 5th.
★ “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: 35th Anniversary” Trailer: The 1990 Cult Classic Returns to Theaters — Limited Engagement Begins August 16th via Fathom Events
Back in the 1990s, the comic book genre wasn't as established as it is now. And movie fans of that decade would remember how rare it was to see a comic book being adapted into a feature film, as it was still an untested gamble for studios. They were often seen as too niche and too risky to take seriously. Oh boy, how things have changed!
But there's still a lot of love for those few comic book movies that did happen—films that dared to bring those comic book panels to life long before the MCU took over the box office. Granted, these movies were weird, bizarre, and often silly. But for many of us raised on '90s cinema, they were our first taste of superheroes on the big screen. And they will be forever etched in our nostalgic hearts as cult classics.
With that being said, listen up ‘90s comic book fans, and prepare yourself to have those heroes in a half shell return to the big screen once more!
It’s been 35 years. Yes, 35 years! And it’s time to celebrate those years of pizza, nunchucks, and sewer-dwelling justice as the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie slices its way back into theaters for a limited run.
Critically panned and considered to be studio drivel, the 1990 film has since reemerged as a genuine cult classic, as nostalgia has helped reframe it in a new light. The movie, based on Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird’s best-selling indie comic book, centers around four ordinary sewer turtles who, after encountering a mysterious green ooze, mutate into New York’s most unlikely heroes.
Named after four of the greatest artists in history, Leonardo (Brian Tochi), Raphael (Josh Pais), Donatello (Corey Feldman), and Michelangelo (Robbie Rist) have been trained in martial arts by their wise (and equally mutated) rat sensei, Splinter (Kevin Clash). Joined by fearless reporter April O’Neil (Judith Hoag) and hockey stick-wielding vigilante Casey Jones (Elias Koteas), the turtles face off against a rising criminal underground led by the menacing Foot Clan.
Catch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as it returns to the big screen where it belongs, starting Saturday, August 16th through Wednesday, August 20th, only through Fathom Events. Turtle power!
