First Look at Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia in Season 4 of Netflix's Hit Medieval Fantasy Series "The Witcher"
New Season. New Witcher!
Check out the first-look teaser of Season 4 of Netflix's popular medieval fantasy series "The Witcher." This time around, Liam Hemsworth is taking over the role of Geralt of Rivia from Henry Cavill, who played the same character for three prior seasons.
Hemsworth has some big boots to fill as Cavill decided to leave the production after the last season due to creative differences and scheduling conflicts. Hemsworth, best known for starring in "The Hunger Games" film series, dons white locks and a sword, playing the titular magically enhanced monster hunter for hire in this minute-long promo. It's our first look at Hemsworth in full Geralt of Rivia garb.
"The Witcher" is based on Andrzej Sapkowski's bestselling books and the acclaimed video game franchise, and the streaming series has captivated fantasy genre fans since its debut in 2019 on Netflix. Cavill's unexpected departure has stirred quite a bit of discussion online, although Cavill himself has publicly supported the choice of casting Hemsworth for the part and has wished him luck.
While Season 4 has started production, it seems Netflix has greenlit a Season 5, the series finale, to be shot back to back. Expected to return for Season 4 are Anya Chalotra as Yennefer of Vengerberg, a quarter-elf sorceress; Freya Allan as Ciri, the crown princess of Cintra, and Joey Batey as the traveling bard, Jaskier. Meanwhile, acclaimed actor Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix films) is joining the cast as Emiel Regis, a higher vampire and a member of Geralt's hansa.
"The Witcher: Season 4" is currently in production and will be coming soon to Netflix.
