Betrayal, Secrets, and a New Cast in Thailand! Watch "The White Lotus: Season 3" Trailer with Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, Natasha Rothwell and More
Natasha Rothwell returns alongside new cast members Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, and Michelle Monaghan as HBO’s hit series explores privilege, secrets, and a new murder mystery in Thailand.
Comedian/filmmaker Mike White really hit it big with The White Lotus, the critically acclaimed HBO series that explores the personal dynamics and cultural contrasts between various groups of people, whether it's the privileged class versus the service class, men versus women, or even men versus men and women versus women.
However, the common denominator in the last two seasons has been Jennifer Coolidge, whose distinct comic skills and perfect timing have made awkward situations even more uncomfortable. She played the emotionally insecure Tanya McQuoid, a wealthy woman who loved traveling to The White Lotus resorts around the world. But now that Coolidge is done with the character, what would a new season of The White Lotus be without the effervescent presence of Tanya?
Well, we'll soon see, as Season 3 is set to arrive next month. Fans can get a small taste of what's in store with the release of the official Season 3 trailer for The White Lotus, showcasing the new cast, now set against the exotic backdrop of Thailand.
But here's the thing: it's not like this new season won't feature any familiar faces. Natasha Rothwell is returning for Season 3, reprising her role as Belinda Lindsey, the warm and diligent spa manager from the first season at the Hawaii resort. For the most part, Belinda was taken advantage of by Tanya, who generously promised to go into business with her—a promise that sadly never came to fruition, as Tanya was a selfish socialite who never gave any second thoughts about her behavior or obligations. In Season 3, it seems Belinda, still working at The White Lotus Hawaii location, is traveling as part of a job exchange program. She wants to learn more massage techniques to improve her business. Good for her.
But it won't be a true White Lotus season without its resident asshole: enter Walton Goggins. Coming off a recent Emmy nomination as the Ghoul in Amazon's Fallout, Goggins joins this new season as an overly cranky, uptight American traveler who is accompanied by a much younger British woman (played by Sex Education's Aimee Lou Wood). It seems he might secretly be looking for some information regarding his family history.
Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, and Michelle Monaghan are also new cast members this season, playing three lifelong friends who decided to take a trip to Thailand to perhaps sow their wild oats. We imagine long-buried tensions and personal issues will be boiling up to the surface soon enough during this trip. Jealousy could always rear its ugly head on these kinds of 'close friends' trips.
Additionally, Jason Isaacs and Parker Posey are playing a long-time married couple who have brought their children on a family vacation. Patrick Schwarzenegger plays one of their kids. And it's safe to say that this family is harboring a lot of secrets that are ready to come out.
As with previous seasons, Season 3 delves into the privilege of indulgent Western tourists seeking to exploit the rich culture of an exotic destination, in this case, it’s everything Thailand has to offer. Also, you can expect a delicious murder mystery that usually becomes the engine driving all the episodes of each season.
So, prepare to come as you are but "leave an entirely different person" when The White Lotus returns for its third season beginning Sunday February 16th, only on HBO and MAX.
