Madelaine Petsch Returns to Face New Threats in Teaser for "The Strangers: Chapter 2," Upcoming Second Installment of Director Renny Harlin's Horror Remake Trilogy
Last year, Bryan Bertino's cult classic 2008 slasher/home invasion horror thriller "The Strangers" was reimagined as a planned horror remake trilogy directed by veteran action director Renny Harlin, famous for "Cliffhanger," "Die Hard 2," and "Deep Blue Sea." The first "chapter" starred Madelaine Petsch, known for "Riverdale," and Froy Gutierrez from "Teen Wolf," as a young couple who, after visiting a remote cabin in a seemingly ordinary mountain village, face the fright of their lives when masked intruders take them hostage, turning their night into a twisted game of survival.
The remake became a huge global sensation... well, not exactly. Despite poor reviews and a generally lukewarm reception from horror fans, "The Strangers: Chapter 1" managed to perform well enough at the box office, generating a decent return considering its modest budget.
All three films in the horror trilogy were shot back-to-back with Renny Harlin at the helm. So, this leads us to the first official teaser trailer for "The Strangers: Chapter 2," featuring Madelaine Petsch reprising her role as Maya, a survivor from the first film. In the trailer, she wakes up in a hospital, only to discover that the entire town might be involved. Who can she trust when everyone around her seems sinisterly suspicious? It appears that surviving the night was just the first hurdle in Maya's journey to safety and freedom.
"The Strangers: Chapter 2" is set to be released sometime in 2025, followed by "Chapter 3" at a later date. In the meantime, check out the official teaser for "Chapter 2," posted above.
