Winter brings a chill down people's spines, but add in a shipwreck and a few frozen corpses, and you've got the perfect setting for a chilling frontier thriller -- where the truly damned are those struggling to survive in a grip of dread and fear.
Check out the trailer for the new horror thriller "The Damned," starring rising Australian actress Odessa Young, known for her roles in HBO's "The Staircase" and Stephen King's "The Stand." She plays a young woman in the early 19th century trying to survive the brutal winter season in a small fishing village. However, when the remnants of a shipwreck filled with frozen corpses wash ashore, it brings an ominous warning and becomes the harbinger of death as a supernatural presence surrounds the dead bodies, putting everyone in grave danger.
Joining Odessa Young in the film are British actors Joe Cole from "Peaky Blinders" and Rory McCann from "Game of Thrones." Siobhan Finneran, Lewis Gribben, and Turlough Convery round out the cast.
Thordur Palsson directs the film, following his work on the Icelandic procedural-thriller miniseries "The Valhalla Murders." Palsson wrote the story, while the screenplay was penned by Jamie Hannigan, known for the 2017 medieval thriller "Pilgrimage," starring Tom Holland, Richard Armitage, and Jon Bernthal.
"The Damned" is set to be released on January 3rd. Watch the trailer above.
