Theo James is Haunted by Creepy Toy Monkey in Red Band Teaser for New Stephen King Adaptation of 'The Monkey' From 'Longlegs' Director Osgood Perkins, and Producer James Wan
Here's the pitch: A classic Stephen King short story, directed by the filmmaker behind the serial killer hit "Longlegs," and produced by James Wan, the mastermind behind "The Conjuring," "Saw," and "Malignant." Starring Theo James as a man who stumbles upon a creepy toy monkey. Well, need I say more?
Check out the newly released red band teaser for "The Monkey," a new horror thriller from writer-director Osgood Perkins, following "Longlegs," one of the biggest horror hits of the year.
Perkins takes on the duty of adapting a classic Stephen King horror story, one of many featured in King's best-selling 500-page collection "Skeleton Crew." The 1985 book also included notable short stories like "The Mist," "The Jaunt," and "The Raft."
"The Monkey" tells the story of a family man haunted by a dark family history. He discovers a creepy toy monkey with drums and cymbals, a seemingly innocent childhood object that he and his twin brother once thought was a sign of impending death and destruction. It turns out they were more right than anyone could have imagined. The toy is cursed, and with each clap of its cymbals, something bad happens... something truly awful.
Theo James, the Emmy-nominated British actor from "The White Lotus: Season 2" and star of Guy Ritchie's Netflix series "The Gentlemen," takes on the dual roles of twin brothers, Hal and Bill. Meanwhile, Christian Convery, known for playing the title character in the post-apocalyptic Netflix series "Sweet Tooth," portrays Hal and Bill as children.
The cast also includes "She-Hulk" star Tatiana Maslany and "Lord of the Rings" actor Elijah Wood, with Rohan Campbell ("Halloween Ends"), Sarah Levy ("Schitt's Creek"), Laura Mennell ("Loudermilk"), and Colin O'Brien ("Wonka").
"The Monkey" will be released in theaters on February 21st next year. Watch the new teaser above.
