"Predator: Killer of Killers" New Trailer: An R-Rated Animated Anthology Featuring Epic Predator Battles Across History
Featuring three thrilling Predator stories set in Viking, feudal Japan, and WWII eras, this standalone animated film promises bloody battles and brutal encounters with the iconic alien hunter.
It’s going to be a banner year for fans of Predator, as they will not only be getting one new Predator film but two! Just a few years ago, it seemed like the Predator film series might have run its course after a few failed attempts to revive the franchise. But it took a 2022 standalone installment, released as a Hulu exclusive, to remind people that the Predator is just as hard to kill as its franchise. Prey reignited interest with its fresh take, set in the 18th century and focusing on a young Native American woman who finds herself fighting the Predator with only her wits and a bow and arrow. With the surprise success of that film, the franchise is now on a roll, and it looks like the Predator is back in full force. Fans are eagerly anticipating a whole new era of Predator films.
Well, Dan Trachtenberg, director of Prey, is now spearheading the franchise, and he’s got an all-new live-action standalone feature, Predator: Badlands, starring Elle Fanning, coming this November to theaters. Now, before fans angrily scream, “Come on... Come on! Do it! Do it! I’m here! Kill me! Do it now! Kill me!” we understand that November might seem a little long to wait for a new Predator movie. But here’s some good news—you don’t have to wait too long, as Trachtenberg has also worked on another Predator film set to debut in just a couple of weeks this June. Now, it’s time to get to da choppa!
Predator: Killer of Killers is another standalone feature, but this time, it’s an R-rated animated anthology film featuring three different Predator stories set in three different points in human history. One story will feature a Viking raider and her young son crossing paths with the Predator as she embarks on a bloody quest for revenge. Another will be set in feudal Japan and sees a ninja fighting against his samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession while a Predator arrives on their turf. The third story takes place during WWII and follows a pilot as he encounters a strange Predator spacecraft and gets into a brutal dogfight.
Among those providing voices in the film are Lindsay LaVanchy (Initiation), Louis Ozawa Changchien (from Amazon Prime’s Hunters), Rick Gonzalez (from CW’s Arrow and Peacock’s Law & Order: Organized Crime), and genre icon Michael Biehn (Terminator, Aliens).
Trachtenberg conceived the story for this animated anthology film, but it was written by Micho Robert Rutare. Trachtenberg also co-directs the film along with Joshua Wassung, a visual effects artist from the animation studio The Third Floor, which specializes in pre-production visualization and animated storyboards.
Now, the question some might have is, will Killer of Killers somehow be linked to Badlands and vice versa? Well, so far, no—both Predator projects are standalone features.
But there’s a possibility that certain themes could overlap, and certainly, Easter eggs and insightful details will be present in both films. But then again, one won’t know until Predator: Killer of Killers finally drops exclusively on Hulu starting on Friday, June 6th. Watch the new trailer, above.
Official Synopsis:
The anthology story follows three of the fiercest warriors in human history: a Viking raider guiding her young son on a bloody quest for revenge, a ninja in feudal Japan who turns against his Samurai brother in a brutal battle for succession, and a WWII pilot who takes to the sky to investigate an otherworldly threat to the Allied cause. But while all these warriors are killers in their own right, they are merely prey for their new opponent–the ultimate killer of killers.
