"Picture This" Trailer: Simone Ashley Navigates Love, Fate, and Five First Dates in Amazon's New Rom-Com with Hero Fiennes Tiffin
Bridgerton star Simone Ashley leads this charming British romantic comedy, co-starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin.
Have you ever noticed how much American movie culture has infiltrated the rest of the world? Sure, superhero blockbusters dominate globally, but the classic American-style rom-com—once thought to be fading—is not only making a comeback but also spreading far beyond Hollywood.
Picture This, a new British rom-com starring Bridgerton’s Simone Ashley, fits right into this trend. But rather than evoking the unique charm of something like Notting Hill, it leans more toward the heartfelt, culture-clashing comedy of My Big Fat Greek Wedding. Not that that’s a bad thing—it just falls squarely into the familiar feel-good rom-com territory, where finding love is a high-wire act of chaotic emotions.
In the film, set to debut next month on Prime Video, Simone Ashley stars as a British photographer pressured to find a boyfriend in time for her sister’s upcoming wedding. Her family goes so far as to set her up on five dates so she can choose the perfect plus-one for the big day. But just as she starts sorting through her options, her ex (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) reappears, hoping to win her back. Now she doesn't know what to do.
Picture This is directed by Prarthana Mohan, who previously made the 2019 indie comedy The MisEducation of Bindu.
And the film is written by Nikita Lalwani, known for her acclaimed 2007 debut novel Gifted but more recently for writing several episodes of Stephen Merchant’s comedy series The Outlaws.
Besides Simone Ashley and Hero Fiennes Tiffin, the cast also includes Sindhu Vee (Matilda: The Musical), Luke Fetherston (Still Up), Nikesh Patel (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Adil Ray (Citizen Khan), Anoushka Chadha (You), and Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso).
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
In this heartfelt rom-com, struggling photographer Pia (Simone Ashley) receives a prediction: true love and career success await her in the next five dates she goes on. With her sister's wedding looming and her family playing matchmaker, her ex (Hero Fiennes Tiffin) reappears, throwing both her love and professional life into chaos.
Picture This is scheduled to stream globally on Prime Video starting March 6.
