đ„ âMichaelâ Teaser Trailer: Jaafar Jackson Steps Into His Uncleâs Moonwalking Shoes in Antoine Fuquaâs Sweeping Musical Biopic â In Theaters April 24, 2026
Michael Jackson. The name itself elicits so many emotions, ranging from total adulation to deep curiosityâeven controversy. But no matter which side of that emotional spectrum you fall on, one thing is undeniable: his impact on music, culture, and performance has been unmatched for decades. And his influence remains at the very core of the music industry.
So, it makes perfect sense that an upcoming feature film has been made to bring his life story to the big screen. Love him or not, Michael Jackson was undeniably one of the greatest pop culture icons in modern history. And while itâs been sixteen years since his tragic overdose death, perhaps enough time has passed for the world to once again look backânot just at the spectacle and numerous public scandals, but at the artistry and ambition behind the artist who would become known to the world as the King of Pop.
Check out this first-look teaser for Michael, the forthcoming sweeping musical biopic that chronicles the life and legacy of pop superstar Michael Jacksonâa cinematic portrait that goes far beyond the stage lights and glittering gloves. From the looks of this first footage, it even goes straight into the recording studio to witness how some of his greatest songs were made.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, The Equalizer) and written by John Logan (Gladiator, Skyfall), the film charts Jacksonâs rise from Motown prodigy to global icon, tracing the creative fire that fueled his relentless pursuit of perfection.
Fun fact: singer and dancer Jaafar Jackson, in his feature debut, takes on the Herculean task of stepping into his uncleâs moonwalking shoes. Thatâs rightâhis uncle. Jaafar is Michaelâs real-life nephew and the son of Jackson 5 star Jermaine Jackson. From the looks of this footage, he bears an uncanny resemblance to Michael in both voice and movement.
Jaafar is joined by an impressive cast that includes Colman Domingo as Michaelâs domineering father and manager, Joe Jackson; Nia Long as his mother, Katherine; and Miles Teller as entertainment lawyer John Brancaâthe man who would eventually become co-executor of the Michael Jackson Estate after Michael famously fired his father during the making of the Thriller album.
The film also features supporting turns from Kat Graham as Diana Ross, Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy, Derek Luke as famed attorney Johnnie Cochran, and Kendrick Sampson as Michaelâs longtime collaborator and legendary music producer Quincy Jones, who produced Jacksonâs most celebrated albumsâOff the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987)âarguably three of the greatest pop records ever made.
Behind the scenes, producer Graham Kingâthe Oscar-winning powerhouse behind Bohemian Rhapsodyâbrings his musical biopic expertise to the project, promising a similarly lavish, performance-driven approach. Rumor has it Michael may even be split into two films due to its extra long runtime, though nothing has been officially confirmed. There have also been reports of last-minute reshoots aimed at reshaping the filmâs final act, possibly to sidestep legal complications.
For fans who grew up in the â80s with Thriller and Bad, and who might have secretly moonwalked in front of their bedroom mirrors, this could be the definitive musical biopic experience.
Michael will be spinning and moonwalking its way into theaters on April 24, 2026. So go ahead and let out a resounding heeeeeee! and a mamma se, mamma sa, mamma coo sa!
đ„ âThe Testament of Ann Leeâ Teaser Trailer: Amanda Seyfried Stars as the Radical 18th-Century Shaker Visionary in Director Mona Fastvoldâs Stark and Spiritual Historical Epic â In Select Theaters Christmas Day
Are you tired of the old, stuffy period dramas where everyone acts overly proper and polite, sipping tea while whispering in hushed tones? Come on! Letâs get a historical drama where everyone looks grimy, miserable, and behaves in ways weâve never seen beforeâwhere the characters are unapologetically raw and undeniably flawed. A place for everything and everything in its place!
One of the buzziest films to emerge from the Venice Film Festival this year comes from the same husband-and-wife team behind last yearâs Oscar-winning drama The Brutalist. Only this time, itâs writer-director Mona Fastvold who has taken the helm. Fastvold, the wife and frequent writing-producing partner of filmmaker Brady Corbet, has collaborated with him on several acclaimed projects, including Vox Lux, The Childhood of a Leader, and, of course, The Brutalist.
But now, Fastvold steps behind the camera as director, with Corbet serving as her co-writer and co-producer. And itâs a historical drama like one youâve never seen before, seamlessly slipping between a moody musical biopic and a gritty period piece.
Inspired by the true-life story of Ann Lee, the visionary founder of the 18th-century Shaker movement, The Testament of Ann Lee is a transcendent portrait of devotion, faith, and human struggle.
And for those who have no clue who the Shakers were (count us among you), they were a Christian religious sect that believed in a holistic system designed to create a perfect, sinless, and harmonious society on Earthâone rooted in celibacy, pacifism, communal living, and equality. Singing and dancing werenât just joyful pastimes for the Shakers; they were sacred acts of worship. In fact, their ecstatic, trembling movements during prayer are why they were called the âShakersâ in the first place.
Amanda Seyfried takes on the title role of Ann Lee, the woman at the heart of this movement. Since its world premiere at Venice back in September, Oscar buzz has been steadily building around Seyfriedâs performance, with critics praising her fearless embodiment of a woman who dared to preach gender and social equality long before her time.
Shot in glorious 70mm and with a striking visual flair that evokes a genuine, stark aestheticâmarked by long, wide angles and beautifully composed set piecesâThe Testament of Ann Lee appears to intertwine a period drama with a spiritual dance musical, where ecstatic movement and sacred song merge into an unconventional cinematic experience. Itâs a film that feels rooted in the 18th century yet pulses with modern energy, centering on a small, isolated community seeking meaning amid a harsh and unforgiving world.
The film reimagines more than a dozen traditional Shaker hymns, featuring original choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall (Vox Lux) and an original score from Academy Award winner Daniel Blumberg (The Brutalist).
Seyfried is joined by a stellar ensemble cast that includes Lewis Pullman as Annâs loyal brother William, Thomasin McKenzie as devout follower Mary Partington, Stacy Martin as Jane Wardley, Christopher Abbott as Annâs tormented husband Abraham, and Tim Blake Nelson as the skeptical Pastor Reuben Wright.
With many critics already calling it an early awards contender, The Testament of Ann Lee will open in select theaters on Christmas Day. Expect a strong Oscar campaign from Searchlight Pictures to follow.
đ„ âOh. What. Fun.â Trailer: Michelle Pfeiffer Goes Rogue for the Holidays in Amazonâs Warm and Witty Christmas Comedy with Denis Leary, Felicity Jones, ChloĂ« Grace Moretz, Dominic Sessa and More â Premieres December 3rd on Prime Video
Weâve officially entered the holiday seasonâand with it comes a flurry of holiday-themed entertainment. For Amazon Prime subscribers, the streamer is delivering a pretty solid, star-studded Christmas comedy led by Michelle Pfeiffer, who stars as a mother finally fed up with being taken for granted year after year. Despite always being the one holding down the family festivities, this Christmas sheâs ready to shake things upâand maybe even skip the holiday altogether.
In the new holiday-set film Oh. What. Fun., Pfeiffer stars as Claire Clauster, the endlessly giving matriarch who practically runs Christmas like a military operation. She frosts cookies with precision, wraps gifts worthy of a department-store window, and keeps her familyâs festive chaos barely contained with a smile and a cinnamon roll.
But this year? Sheâs done. Sheâs closing up shop. And frankly, sheâs tired of her familyâs blatant disregard for her feelings or her Christmas efforts. So when her distracted husband (comedian Denis Leary) and self-involved kids accidentally forget about her, Claire decides to forget them right back. She soon sets off on a solo adventure thatâs merry, bright, and completely her own.
Hitting the road on a cross-country trip to Los Angeles, Claire enters a televised holiday contest where the âBest Momâ takes all. As her clueless family scrambles to find their missing holiday MVP, Claire rediscovers what the season is really aboutâespecially when youâre not stuck cleaning up everyone elseâs tinsel.
Among those playing Pfeifferâs adult children and close relatives are Felicity Jones, ChloĂ« Grace Moretz, Dominic Sessa, Havana Rose Liu, Devery Jacobs, Maude Apatow, and Jason Schwartzman, along with Danielle Brooks, Joan Chen, and Eva Longoria as the morning show host of the holiday mom contest.
Michael Showalterâthe comedian and filmmaker behind The Big Sick, The Eyes of Tammy Faye, and The Idea of Youâco-writes and directs this sharp, heartfelt holiday comedy that sets out to remind us all that moms are âicons.â So donât forget your own this Christmas.
Oh. What. Fun. premieres exclusively on Prime Video on December 3rd.
