🎥 “Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die” Trailer: Sam Rockwell Plays a Disheveled Time Traveler Racing to Stop an AI Apocalypse in Gore Verbinski’s Darkly Comic Sci-Fi Thriller with Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz & Juno Temple — Hitting Theaters February 13th
Let’s face it, the future looks pretty grim. Worse yet, it feels kind of hopeless. It’s hard not to think there’s probably nothing we can do that could actually change the immediate outcome. So why bother, right? Well, before we all start screaming into the void and waiting for our inevitable doom, know this: there’s a hero out there who’s come from the future to scare us straight. He’s not taking no for an answer, and he guarantees there’s still time to change course before it’s too late.
There’s just one teensy problem: this would-be savior of ours looks like a stark-raving homeless man, and we’ve just got to take his word for it. But hey, his message to us is pretty simple: Good Luck, Have Fun… and whatever you do, Don’t Die!
A disheveled, bearded Sam Rockwell stars in this offbeat sci-fi comedy, playing a man from the future who’s traveled back to the present to prevent an imminent AI takeover of the world. As he barges into a late-night diner, he screams out a warning that should have every patron sitting up and paying attention, never realizing that his first major obstacle would be convincing anyone to believe a word he’s saying — or, for that matter, getting people to even care.
Directed by visionary filmmaker Gore Verbinski (of the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films), Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die also stars Haley Lu Richardson, Michael Peña, Zazie Beetz, and Juno Temple as some of the few people willing to take Rockwell’s mysterious time traveler seriously — even if they’re not entirely convinced he’s telling the truth, or that saving the world is even possible.
Penned by Love and Monsters scribe Matthew Robinson, the upcoming film is coming off a well-received debut at last year’s Fantastic Fest, earning rave reviews from critics. And from the looks of this new trailer, it certainly seems poised to live up to the hype.
Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die is set to open in theaters February 13th. So, get ready to question whether the hopes of the future are really resting in the hands of the last person you’d ever expect.
🎥 “The Testament of Ann Lee” Trailer: Amanda Seyfried Channels Faith, Fury, and Ferocity in Mona Fastvold’s Radically Unconventional Period Musical — Expanding Nationwide in Theaters January 23rd
Looking to try something different at the movies? Well, maybe you give this period musical a try, as it’s less buttoned-up spectacle and more sweat, grime, and raw emotion. That’s exactly where The Testament of Ann Lee plants its flag as one of the buzziest titles this awards season—but it also feels distinctively unrefined, emotionally feral, and uninterested in playing by the usual prestige-drama rules.
Marking a bold pivot for Mona Fastvold, who steps fully behind the camera after co-writing 2024’s Oscar-winning The Brutalist with her husband and longtime collaborator Brady Corbet, this visually raw period drama is inspired by the true story of Ann Lee, the 18th-century founder of the Shaker movement.
The Shakers believed in communal living, pacifism, and gender equality—all radical ideas that made them outsiders even in their own time. They also believed in strict celibacy… which, unsurprisingly, became one of the main reasons the movement steadily declined in numbers, despite the fervent devotion of its followers and the growing mystique surrounding Lee herself.
While earning some of the best reviews of her career, Amanda Seyfried takes on the role of Ann Lee, a forward-thinking, devout woman preaching equality and devotion in an era that was built to silence her. Since the film’s standout premiere at the Venice Film Festival back in September, Oscar buzz has followed close behind, with critics praising Seyfried’s raw, unvarnished performance. She’s joined by an excellent ensemble including Lewis Pullman, Thomasin McKenzie, Stacy Martin, Christopher Abbott, and Tim Blake Nelson.
Featuring reimagined Shaker hymns with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall and an original score from Oscar winner Daniel Blumberg, this unconventional musical aims to get to the heart of Shaker worship—which involved acts of ecstatic singing and trembling dances so intense they ultimately inspired the sect’s famed “Shaker” name.
Oscar nominee Brady Corbet is also on board as co-writer and co-producer alongside his wife, but this is very much Fastvold’s vision: stripped-down, spiritual, and quietly radical. Shot in striking 70mm with long, wide compositions, the film is already being tipped as an early awards contender, with all eyes on Seyfried.
The Testament of Ann Lee is currently playing in select theaters and is scheduled to open nationwide on January 23rd.
🎥 “The Wrecking Crew” Trailer: Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista Bring Muscle, Mayhem, and Bad Attitudes to This Hawaii Buddy-Cop Action Comedy with Stephen Root, Morena Baccarin & Jacob Batalon — Premiering on Prime Video January 28th
Have you heard good cop, bad cop? Well, this is swole cop and even swoler cop.
Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista star as a pair of bickering detectives in the new Hawaii-set action comedy The Wrecking Crew, where muscles are big, tempers are short, teamwork is optional... but the scenery is postcard-perfect. Much like Lethal Weapon’s Riggs and Murtaugh, these two can’t help but clash at every turn, turning even the simplest investigation into a testosterone-fueled battle of egos, property damage, and barely contained chaos.
Directed by Angel Manuel Soto, the filmmaker behind DC’s Blue Beetle, Momoa and Bautista play two estranged half-brothers forced to join forces to investigate the mysterious death of their father. Even though they’re both cops— with Momoa’s Jonny hailing from the mainland while Bautista’s James is a local Hawaii detective —these two couldn’t have more different approaches to the job, the badge, or each other.
Jonny likes to work fast and loose, while James has a more by-the-book, no-nonsense method. And like oil and vinegar, they don’t mix well. But together, they manage to wreck just about everything in their path as they kick off a full-blown street war with the Yakuza, who are muscling their way into Hawaii’s criminal underworld.
But guess what? The Yakuza can’t just muscle their way out of this one when these guys bring twice the muscle and zero patience. And to get to the bottom of their father’s death, all of Hawaii is about to feel the fallout.
Joining Momoa and Bautista in the cast are Barry’s Stephen Root as their perpetually frustrated police chief, Spider-Man’s Jacob Batalon, Deadpool’s Morena Baccarin, along with Claes Bang and Temuera Morrison rounding out the ensemble.
Penned by Banshee and Warrior creator Jonathan Tropper, The Wrecking Crew will stream exclusively on Prime Video beginning Wednesday, January 28th.
