Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan Makes His Leading Role Debut as a Real Estate Agent Battling His Hitman Past in Trailer for New Action Comedy "Love Hurts" with Ariana DeBose and Daniel Wu
When former child actor and beloved '80s icon Ke Huy Quan ("Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom," "The Goonies") won a golden trophy for his outstanding supporting role in the Oscar-winning film "Everything Everywhere All at Once," it became one of Hollywood's greatest comeback stories. Now, that story comes full circle as Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan steps into his first major leading role in the upcoming action-comedy "Love Hurts." He'll make you laugh -- and kick some serious butt. Check out the first official trailer for the upcoming film.
In "Love Hurts," Quan stars as Marvin Gable, a seemingly ordinary real estate agent in the Milwaukee suburbs. What his co-workers don't know is that Marvin was once one of the world's most dangerous assassins. He left that life behind long ago, with no intention of returning to his criminal ways. However, his past comes back to haunt him when he discovers that his brother, a ruthless crime lord, has put a hit on him and discovered his hiding place. With no other choice, Marvin must tap into his killer instincts to protect the life he's built. The twist? Marvin's former partner-in-crime, a woman he thought was long dead, suddenly reappears, offering to team up and take down his crime lord brother together. But can she be trusted, or is there another score she wants to settle?
Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose ("West Side Story") co-stars as Rose, Marvin's former partner, while Chinese-American martial artist Daniel Wu ("American Born Chinese," "Westworld," "Into the Badlands") plays his evil crime lord brother, Knuckles. The cast is rounded out by Marshawn Lynch, Mustafa Shakir, Lio Tipton, Rhys Darby, Andre Eriksen, and Sean Astin.
The film marks the directorial debut of stuntman and fight coordinator JoJo Eusebio, known for his work on action films like "The Fall Guy," "Violent Night," "Deadpool 2," and the "John Wick" series.
Produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch under their 87North banner ("The Fall Guy," "Atomic Blonde," "John Wick"), "Love Hurts" is written by Matthew Murray ("Sheltered"), Josh Stoddard ("Warrior"), and Luke Passmore ("Archenemy"). The film hits theaters on February 7th, just in time for a bruised-up Valentine's Day.
