"Ironheart" Trailer: Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) Forges Her Own Path in Marvel’s New Superhero Miniseries with Anthony Ramos
Dominique Thorne returns as Riri Williams, a young tech genius navigating the dangers of her own inventions and the manipulative forces trying to control her in this action-packed Marvel series.
Just being a genius isn’t enough to make something out of yourself in this world. No matter how talented you are, you’re going to need some help if your goal is to build something “iconic.” Success often requires collaboration, vision, and the right team to bring your ideas to life. But what if the person you thought was there to uplift you, be your mentor, and help with your journey had ulterior motives? What if his support wasn’t as selfless as you believed, and his intentions were driven by his own hidden agendas? Well, that realization could ultimately shape your path in ways you never expected.
This is the basic gist behind Ironheart, the new Marvel superhero miniseries centering around Riri Williams, the young engineering genius we first saw in the blockbuster sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Riri is an engineering prodigy from MIT who spends some time in the techno-driven country of Wakanda, learning the ropes from the tech whiz herself, Shuri.
With her incredible intellect and extraordinary ability to invent new technology, Riri is back in America, in Chicago, ready to forge her own path. The challenge now, from what we can tell from the official trailer for the upcoming limited series, is Riri seeking out the right direction for her talents. As she navigates the pressures of being a young prodigy in a world full of complex, often dangerous forces looking to exploit her capabilities, she must decide how best to use her skills.
It’s the age-old question every young, budding superhero must ask themselves: How can I use my powers to make a real difference without falling into the sinister forces that seek to corrupt me?
In this case, it’s Hamilton star Anthony Ramos who plays Parker Robbins, aka The Hood. He’s a dubious activist and benefactor seeking to financially support Riri’s cutting-edge technology, but he has other ideas on how to implement them, putting Riri’s invention—and her future—at risk.
Actress Dominique Thorne returns as Riri Williams, the young tech virtuoso who’s on her way to building her own Iron Man-like suit to become... Ironheart! But first, she’ll have to navigate the dangerous forces that want to control her technology for their own gain.
Others in the cast include Alden Ehrenreich, Lyric Ross, Regan Aliyah, and Manny Montana, alongside Anji White, Matthew Elam, Shakira Barrera, Zoe Terakes, Paul Calderón, Cree Summer, Shea Couleé, and Jim Rash.
Based on the Marvel comic book series by Brian Michael Bendis, and executive produced by filmmaker Ryan Coogler, this new miniseries is spearheaded by head writer Chinaka Hodge (Netflix’s The Midnight Club, TNT’s Snowpiercer).
Ironheart is slated to premiere on Disney+ beginning Tuesday, June 24th. Watch the trailer, above.
