"I Know What You Did Last Summer" New Trailer: Madelyn Cline and Chase Sui Wonders Face the Hook in Upcoming Legacy Reboot with Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr.
Secrets don't stay buried in this fresh spin on the classic slasher, as a new group of guilty teens get stalked by the infamous Fisherman slasher.
Young people these days—they always think they can get away with everything... like not paying the phone bill, skipping out without saying where they’re going... oh, and yeah, that summer they conveniently forgot to report a death they just so happened to witness. It must’ve slipped their minds.
But there’s one person (with a hook, no less) who won’t let them forget what they did last summer. And he’s back to terrorize a new group of unsuspecting victims who must’ve thought they got away with it—as long as they never told a soul. But secrets don’t stay buried forever. Sometimes it just takes a year to the day… for them to finally face the consequences.
Check out a brand-new trailer for I Know What You Did Last Summer, the upcoming legacy reboot that sees the return of the infamous Fisherman slasher (aka Ben Willis), whose rusty fish hook is sharper than ever, ready to gut people wide open. Mind you, he only goes after those who deserve it: fools dumb enough to think they could cover up a death and walk away clean.
In this case, it’s five friends (played by Outer Banks's Madelyn Cline, The Studio's Chase Sui Wonders, The Little Mermaid's Jonah Hauer-King, Him's Tyriq Withers, and The Wilds's Sarah Pidgeon) who inadvertently cause a deadly car accident, watching in horror as the vehicle screeches past them, crashes into the curve, and tumbles down the side of a cliff.
Now, a person in their right mind would automatically call for help. It’s even easier these days with cell phones in every pocket. These kids didn’t do that. Instead, they screamed in bloody terror and waited for one of them to come up with a plan. That plan was to tell no one about what happened. They were never there.
Fast forward a year later, and a message magically arrives, revealing that someone knows what they did... last summer. Now again, a person in their right mind would call the police and ask for help. After all, it’s their word against someone who is clearly unwell, unhinged, and possibly just playing a twisted prank.
But these fools? Well, they’ve got other plans: to track down two people who might actually know what they’re dealing with... two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997: Julie James (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and Ray Bronson (Freddie Prinze Jr.).
So, what great wisdom did Julie and Ray offer this new group of victims? Kill him before he kills you. Really? That’s it? Oh—and someone in your friend group is a lying sunuvabitch. So… trust no one. Aaahh, that’s better.
Directed and co-written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who previously wrote and directed the Netflix mean-girls dark comedy Do Revenge starring Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke, this contemporary reboot also co-stars Billy Campbell, Gabbriette Bechtel, and Austin Nichols.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is slated to open nationwide on July 18th. Watch the new trailer, above.
Official Synopsis:

As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
