Halloween Treats! "Scream 7" First Trailer and "Stranger Things 5" Full Trailer
đ„ đș Halloween treats abound as Neve Campbellâs Sidney Prescott and her daughter face a Ghostface Killer, while the Hawkins crew braces for their final showdown!
đ„ âScream 7â Trailer: Neve Campbell Returns as Sidney Prescott Facing Ghostface Again in Kevin Williamsonâs Franchise Comeback with Courteney Cox, Joel McHale, and Isabel May â Slashing into Theaters February 27, 2026
The Scream franchise recently faced some behind-the-scenes turbulence following the surprising departures of Scream V and VI stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, whoâdepending on which report you readâwere either let go or fired. Some say it was over Barreraâs pro-Palestine stance, while others suggest the franchise was simply shifting toward a new creative direction. Either way, the way it was handled left a bad taste, and fans were left wondering what this meant for the future of the beloved horror series.
But to be fair, it seems all this kind of started with the mishandling of actress Neve Campbell, who claimed there was a major pay dispute with producers Spyglass Media Group over her return in Scream VI. For the uninitiated, Campbell ultimately did not appear in Scream 6, alleging that the salary offered to her was a lowball dealâone she deemed unacceptable for a star who helped build such a successful franchise of this size.
And yes, one could argue that the Scream franchise really boils down to only two figures: Neve Campbellâs Sidney Prescott and the Ghostface killer. Without that dynamic of Sidney versus the mask, the last two installments in the series never quite resonated with certain corners of the fandom. And certainly, diehard fans of the original Scream films never really wanted to stray from Sidneyâs journey to focus on new characters.
And for many, Sidney Prescott is the franchiseâmuch like Laurie Strode is to the Halloween films. Theyâre one and the same. Which is why so many fans were collectively screaming at Spyglass Media to pay up. Pay Neve Campbell her moneyâshe deserves it.
Well, it seems that after the Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega debacle, Spyglass Media was left with no other choice but to make things right with Neve Campbell. The actress confirmed she was offered a âstrongâ deal last year to return for Scream 7, the latest installment set to take the horror franchise back to basicsâand back to centering on Sidneyâs story, which now includes her teenage daughter, Tatum, played by 1883 actress Isabel May.
It also begs the question: is Sidney cursed with a lifetime of bad luck, as it seems Ghostface is once again coming after herâand this time, her offspring too.
Joined once again by Courteney Coxâs sharp-tongued reporter Gale Weathers and the surviving Meeks-Martin twins (again played by Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown), this seventh chapter promises to dig deep into Sidneyâs legacy, her motherhood, and the unrelenting pull of the past. And after more than a decade of blood-curdling phone calls and masked mayhem, Sidney has built a quiet life far away from the trauma thatâs haunted her since Woodsboro. But peace never lasts long in this meta slasher universe. When a new Ghostface emerges in her small hometown, targeting her teenage daughter (Isabel May), Sidney realizes the nightmare isnât overâitâs just gotten more personal than ever.
Kevin Williamson, the original screenwriter and co-creator of the Scream franchise, is also returning to the directorâs chair for the first time since 2011âs Scream 4, directing from a script he co-wrote with horror scribe Guy Busick (Scream 6, Abigail, Final Destination: Bloodlines).
Joel McHale also stars as Sidneyâs cop husband, with Roger L. Jackson once again lending his iconic voice to Ghostfaceâs chilling phone calls.
Scream 7 will be slashing its way into theaters on February 27, 2026. So, expect a few surprises and plenty of jump scaresâand always remember, gunshots arenât always final.
đș âStranger Things 5â Official Trailer: The Hawkins Gang Grows Up and Gears Up for One Final Battle Against Vecna in Netflixâs Three-Part Epic Finale â Premiering November 26th, December 25th, and December 31st
Hereâs a little fun fact: Stranger Things, Netflixâs hit phenomenon, first premiered nine years ago during the summer of 2016, instantly becoming a global sensationâand arguably the series that put the streaming giant on the map. Riding the wave of 1980s nostalgia, it blended supernatural monsters, kids on bikes, Dungeons & Dragons geeks, secret government experiments, and underworldly horror into a perfect pop-culture storm. Sure, thereâs more to it, but the simple reason the series caught fire is that audiences were enamored by its Spielberg-like cinematic flair and Stephen Kingâstyle mysteries involving creatures from the Upside Down and a gang of misfit kids who always seemed to be the only ones who could save the world.
But hereâs the thing: fans havenât seen a new episode since Season 4, which wrapped over the Fourth of July weekend in 2022. That was three long years ago. And by now, the wave of â80s nostalgia has largely run its course, as pop culture shifts its affection toward all things â90s. And that once-unknown cast of baby-faced kids who stole the show back in 2016? Theyâre all grown up now, with thriving careers of their own. So the question hanging in the air is, does Stranger Things still hold the same cultural weight it once did?
Look, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer (aka the Duffer Brothers) had the tremendous task of closing the show on a satisfying note while navigating a string of unforeseeable delaysâfrom the pandemicâs ripple effects to not one but two Hollywood union strikes, including the Writersâ and Actorsâ strikes. Additionally, itâs easy to imagine how difficult it must have been to wrangle a schedule for their massive ensemble cast, many of whom have since gone on to other high-profile projects. Some have even admitted they were ready to move on from the show to pursue new opportunities.
The Duffers themselves have already signed a multi-year deal with Paramount, set to depart Netflix to pursue feature film work rather than diving into another TV series for the streaming company. However, the brothers remain attached as executive producers for the soon-to-be-released Netflix sci-fi series The Boroughs, starring Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, and Bill Pullman. Rumor has it, the forthcoming show will carry that distinct Duffer vibeâblending mystery and supernatural intrigueâthat made them household names in the first place.
It seems Stranger Things 5, the showâs fifth and final season, has been a long time comingâmarking the end of an era, but also the final chance for everyone involved to leave on a high note. And on the fan side of things, Season 5 also symbolizes a journey coming full circle. It could be seen as a nostalgic farewell to the world, characters, and friendships that defined nearly a decade of binge-worthy fun. And while die-hard fans will likely be sad to see it go, we can only appreciate the ride itâs taken us on, but weâre more than ready to see how this one ends.
Promising to be a darker, heavier chapterâone that finds the Hawkins gang grown up, battle-scarred, and facing a final reckoning with Vecna and the horrors of the Upside Downâmuch has changed since we first met the kids of Hawkins. David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, Finn Wolfhard, Joe Keery, and Maya Hawke are now full-blown stars in their own right, but they return once more to the place where it all began.
Matt and Ross Duffer also return to write and direct most of the final season, joined by executive producer Shawn Levy and, in a nice surprise twist, The Shawshank Redemption filmmaker Frank Darabont, who will direct two episodes; his first work in over a decade.
Meanwhile, Terminator icon Linda Hamilton joins the cast this final season to inject the show with a little more â80s nostalgia. Sheâs joined by returning favorites Winona Ryder, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Jamie Campbell Bower, and many more.
Consisting of eight all-new episodes (some extended to feature-length runtimes), Season 5 will unfold in three parts:
- Volume 1 (four episodes) hits Wednesday, November 26th, just in time for Thanksgiving weekend.
- Volume 2 (three episodes) drops on Christmas Day, December 25th, so families can unwrap their gifts with a little Vecna carnage playing in the background.
- And finally, Volume 3, the feature-length finale will arrive December 31st, New Yearâs Eve.
Netflix has also agreed to release the showâs feature-length finale (Vol 3) in select theaters nationwide on the same night. From the looks of it, Stranger Things is saving its biggest fireworks, and maybe a few tears for the end.
