"Gunslingers" Trailer: Nicolas Cage and Stephen Dorff Draw Fast in This Western Shoot-Em-Up with Heather Graham
In a town where everyone’s packing heat, Nicolas Cage plays a grizzled photographer with a deadly past.
There are fans of Western films who are drawn to the sweeping epics of the genre. They love the romanticized vision of the Old West, where rugged pioneers had to be tough enough to survive the harsh and unforgiving terrain of mountainous deserts—where honor was settled in one-on-one duels, face to face. It was a time of great courage and fortitude, where true grit meant something, and a fistful of dollars was how you got paid for an honest day’s work.
And then… there are those Western fans who just like to see people shoot a lot of guns! Yeah, we fall into that camp. And that’s why, no matter how cheesy this new Western shoot-’em-up looks, it basically has everything we need: a whole lot of people shooting at each other. Pew! Pew! Pew!
Just like the film’s title warns us, Gunslingers aims to tap into our most basic primal instincts. And hey! It’s even got another out-there performance from Nicolas Cage, playing an old-timey photographer with one hell of a scratchy voice that could peel the paint right off your walls. And just in case you were wondering, he’s a gunslinger too. Everyone's a gunslinger in this movie! Holy hell!
Here's the trailer for Gunslingers, an indie Western that feels better suited as a late-night digital purchase when you just want to sit on your couch with a tub of ice cream and spend the next two hours watching people acting tough and drawing their pistols faster than you can pull another scoop of ice cream in your mouth.
The film is written and directed by Brian Skiba, a prolific B-movie action filmmaker who makes about two movies a year on average for the past five years—films you’ve likely never heard of: Guns of Redemption, Dead Man's Hand, The 2nd, etc.
Joining Nicolas Cage is a cast of "who's who and where do I know you from," including Stephen Dorff, Heather Graham, Tzi Ma, Costas Mandylor, and Jeremy Kent Jackson.
And oh, Stallone is in this! It's just not the Stallone you're thinking of—it's Sly's daughter, Scarlet Rose Stallone. This would've been her big acting break, if it weren't for the fact Scarlet Rose made her debut in the series Tulsa King, which just so happens to be her father’s show. Go figure!
Gunslingers is heading to theaters and VOD on April 11.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
When the most wanted man in America surfaces in a small Kentucky town, his violent history — and a blood-thirsty mob seeking vengeance and a king’s ransom — soon follow. As brothers face off against one another and bullets tear the town to shreds, this lightning-fast gunslinger makes his enemies pay the ultimate price for their greed. Academy Award Winner Nicolas Cage, Stephen Dorff, and Heather Graham star in an action-packed Western thriller about true justice in the wild west.
