Josh Hartnett Faces a Plane Full of Killers in Trailer for New John Wick-like Action Flick "Fight or Flight"

If you're telling us that Trap and Oppenheimer were just the beginning of Josh Hartnett's comeback, then you can't imagine how excited we are about that. Anyone who grew up with late '90s and early 2000s cinema knows that Hartnett was the unsung hero of films like The Faculty, Black Hawk Down, and Pearl Harbor. Hell, he was even great in his bit parts in Sin City and The Virgin Suicides. For some reason, Hartnett has been an actor many people have always loved, but only now are they realizing just how much. So, imagine our surprise when we just discovered that Josh Hartnett has made a wild new action movie from the same production company behind the John Wick franchise. One could even be bold enough to say Hartnett is playing a John Wick-like character—if Wick had taken a different path, trying to lay low in an undisclosed Indonesian location, becoming a barfly with a penchant for Hawaiian shirts and stiff drinks. Dare we say, Josh Wick?

Fight or Flight is a darkly comedic action flick where Josh Hartnett plays a fugitive mercenary on the run. After years of living in complete exile, his character becomes fed up with his situation and decides to broker a deal to return home. But first, he must do one thing: board a plane and capture a high-value target alive. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, things are never that easy. He soon discovers that the plane is filled with professional contract killers, and his target is a notorious assassin. What was supposed to be a simple flight turns into a deadly arena, with some of the most dangerous killers in the world trapped onboard. But here's the twist no one saw coming: Hartnett's character might just be the most psychotic person on the flight, and he just got his hands on a chainsaw. Yikes!

James Madigan, a visual effects supervisor who has worked on such films as Iron Man 2 and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, makes his leap into directing. This is his first feature directorial effort, working from a screenplay penned by Brooks McLaren and actor D.J. Cotrona.

Hartnett leads the cast, which includes Katee Sackhoff, Charithra Chandran, Julian Kostov, and Marko Zaror. Produced by Basil Iwanyk, founder of Thunder Road Films, which is behind such hits as Sicario, The Town, Greenland, and aforementioned the John Wick franchise.

Fight or Flight has a UK distribution deal with Sky Cinema and is expected to open in the UK sometime in February. As of yet, there's no official US release date, but you can check out this new international trailer featured above.
