Hey everyone! Welcome to the first test-run episode of TheMovieBox Podcast, the official companion podcast to TheMovieBox.net.
My name is Mike, the guy who’s been running this whole thing from behind the curtain. And for this first episode, I’ve gotten together with my compatriots, Raymond and producer Rich, for a fun conversation about the current movie and TV landscape.
This is basically us kicking the tires on what could become a new movie podcast show. At the moment, it doesn’t even have an official title yet, but hey, every great franchise has to start somewhere. Even if that somewhere is a slightly messy pilot episode with three movie geeks trying to figure out what the hell this thing is supposed to be.
This episode kicks things off with the recent trailer backlash surrounding The Social Reckoning, Aaron Sorkin’s companion piece to The Social Network.
From there, the conversation opens up into a larger discussion about the new wave of YouTube-born filmmakers, the rise of horror as a launchpad for fresh cinematic voices, Gen Z’s renewed love of theaters and physical media, and whether Hollywood’s older masters still hold the same cultural power they once did.
The episode also dives into Raymond’s thoughts on Steven Spielberg’s new UFO/whistleblower thriller Disclosure Day, the disappointing return of Scary Movie, and a quick look at the weekend box office, where horror continues to prove it has serious legs.
So consider this the soft launch… the beta test… the slightly wobbly first step. The title may come later. The format may change. But the movie-geek energy is already here in full force!
Enjoy!
