Donald Glover Directs and Stars in New Sci-Fi Adventure Flick "Bando Stone and The New World," Featuring a Soundtrack by Childish Gambino - Watch the Trailer!
Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, has secretly made a sci-fi-tinged adventure movie called "Bando Stone and The New World," which also acts as a companion piece to his upcoming album of the same name -- or perhaps the album itself serves as the original soundtrack to this upcoming movie. Either way, this new album is supposedly the final one to be made under Glover's pseudonym of Childish Gambino.
Directed by Donald Glover himself, working from a screenplay by "Evi Wilder" (which could be a pseudonym), the film sees Glover as Bando Stone, a famous popstar hanging out on a remote tropical island when the world is hit with a strange alien-like phenomenon. The island appears to be abandoned as strange occurrences, like bizarre laser beams and large prehistoric-like animals, become commonplace. With his only skills being singing and making music, Bando finds himself tagging along with a shotgun-toting human survivor (played by Jessica Allain, from Peacock's John Wick prequel miniseries "The Continental") and her child as they try to survive this new dystopian world.
"Bando Stone and The New World," which could be a short film -- details are still being kept under wraps, doesn't have an official release date yet. However, the movie's first official trailer, which you can watch above, was released this past weekend in IMAX in front of "A Quiet Place: Day One." A spot for the movie also debuted during the airing of the BET Awards, where Glover made an appearance.
Meanwhile, the new Childish Gambino song "Lithonia," which plays over the trailer, is slated to be released on July 2nd.
