"A Working Man" New Trailer: Jason Statham Wrecks Fools in David Ayer’s Brutal New Revenge Thriller
Jason Statham is back in action as a man with a deadly past who’s forced to unleash hell on a ruthless human trafficking ring. Directed by The Beekeeper’s David Ayer!
If you’re going to piss off Jason Statham, you better make sure you don’t have an indoor pool—because there’s a good chance he’ll use it to drown you in it.
Watch Statham get angry at the sight of violence—not his own, mind you, but that of a filthy animal who beat his wife—as he becomes a one-man wrecking crew in the new trailer for A Working Man.
Now, we know what you're thinking—with a title like that, you're probably saying to yourself, "Well, I know this movie already. Statham is likely a blue-collar ‘working man,’ maybe working a construction site, but secretly he has a shady past of being a special ops agent. Then something happens where he must tap back into his killer instincts to right the wrongs of injustice, setting the stage for an unbridled killing spree to rescue an innocent kidnapped woman from the clutches of a ruthless drug kingpin."
Well, the joke’s on you! It’s from the clutches of a ruthless human trafficker. But, yeah, that pretty much sums it up.
It’s a Jason Statham action movie, after all. We’re not here for the script—we’re here to watch Statham kick ass and turn the tables on those who really have it coming.
And as for clever dialogue? All we need is the kind of lines you’ll hear in this new red-band trailer: “You killed your way into this. You’re gonna have to kill your way out of it.” Shakespeare couldn’t have said it better himself.
Statham is once again taking directing notes from Suicide Squad helmer David Ayer. The two previously teamed up for last year’s action-packed, revenge-fueled grindhouse thriller The Beekeeper, which performed surprisingly well enough both commercially and critically.
So, are Statham and Ayer the next actor-director duo we need?
Well, no one’s going to confuse them with legendary pairings like De Niro and Scorsese, Murphy and Nolan, or Jackson and Tarantino. But they just might end up more like Russell and Carpenter—which, honestly, we’re totally down for that.
Despite the way Statham acts or how he looks, A Working Man is not a sequel to The Beekeeper. Though, to be honest, it might as well be. But this film is actually based on the 2014 action-revenge novel Levon's Trade by comic book writer Chuck Dixon. So, totally different characters.
It seems at one point Sylvester Stallone was attached to the project. Stallone himself wrote the screenplay and also gets a producer credit. Nevertheless, David Ayer came onboard to polish the script before directing this bad boy.
Co-starring Michael Peña, David Harbour, Jason Flemyng, Arianna Rivas, Noemi Gonzalez, Eve Mauro, and Emmett J. Scanlan, A Working Man is slated for a theatrical release on March 28th, courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
Levon Cade (Jason Statham) left behind a decorated military career in the black ops to live a simple life working construction. But when his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.
