SYNOPSIS __________
Plot:
Set in contemporary London, "Closer" is
the story of four strangers and their chance meetings, instant
attractions and casual betrayals. Dan (Jude Law) is an aspiring
novelist who earns his living writing obituaries. Larry (Clive
Owen), a handsome, self-assured dermatologist, gets his heart
broken and resolves never to be hurt again. Anna (Julia Roberts)
is a successful photographer and a recent divorcée.
After meeting and flirting with Dan, she marries Larry, all
the while carrying on a secret affair with Dan. Alice (Natalie
Portman) is alone when she comes to London, so she makes up
her entire world, completely re-creating herself. She has
a childlike side in that she's very honest and direct with
her feelings, a trait that distinguishes her from the other
characters. Although she's lying about her persona, she's
the most genuine character in the film.
